Last time I ordered shipping was almost the same day. I'm hoping that the delay is just because of the holidays or something. I ordered Tuesday, no shipping notice yet, which is weird for Amit. PayPal so I guess if there is a problem I'm covered? Maybe?
I presently have about seven packages on there way to me...but the Christmas period is just dumping larger amounts of shipping onto an already stretched network....Most services have held up well this past year...but Christmas has just knackered everything.....lots not even moving through the system....
I had one package from NinjaRobb leave Siberia....move all the way through the Russian system...only to end up back with him.....:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao: after a month.......such is life...

May I inquire as to where you purchased this from please?
It would appear to be exceptionally on the very low side of affordable, to say the least..
Just curious...but quite understand if you wish not to reveal your source....

Has been very reliable and very fast shipping in the past but maybe wait until the batch that I just ordered comes and I can update you on what their current lot is like.

I think the old trees are still going to be stolen after covid and pushed thru , oils are cheaper from undocumented sources, it’s not really scale that makes the oils cheap it’s theft. I’ve searched high and low and even at scale
( government auctions) wood is to expensive to honestly distill unless it’s plantation and in India even the plantation is pretty expensive.
That being said the available wood I have found so far has all been stolen , a lot gets shipped into Pakistan and then reshiped.
So no matter how much I’m willing to spend I just would never be able to produce quality Indian Sandalwood oil ! Maybe from some other regions just not the good Mysore

I can't be sure the oil that I got from this company last time was Indian. But it smelled more or less correct. There was a certain sweet floral quality to the top note that I have found in certain woods but unlike the wood samples where it's pronounced and kind of irritating it was well balanced in this particular oil. I've also been presented samples that reputable people swore were from Mysore that to me smelled like they were from Vanuatu or papua or blended with these species so now I wonder how many folks who talk about Mysore sandalwood (myself included) actually know what the regional profile truly is.

I know in many cases some of the products we discuss here may not be moving across borders entirely legally. Just thinking of what has been written in 95% of the shipping declarations I have seen... 😉

Indian sandalwood I know is (was?) very limited when it comes to exports, so even legally obtained wood and oil ends up being illegally acquired sometimes when shipped to the US.

Not to mention musk... do you all think if customs knew there was $500 of musk in those "fragrance sample" packages that they would let it fly?

Can't think of the last time I saw CITES documentation for ANY agarwood product... never know how nervous to be there.

I wonder if we could afford any of this stuff if we obtained it through legal channels and paid all of the suitable duties and all that?

The reality of cultivated oud is reassuring. I hope the plantation sandalwood yields something great as well. Now all we need are humane musk farms and all will be good

And the fact that the shipping is the same price as the product is a sign that you are not getting fleeced. At least that's how it was last time. See how the shipping compares to the oil price buying a 10ml sample somewhere else...
I'm not sure how the shipping price is a sign you're not getting fleeced. But as I said, even with shipping, it's a great price. Now to see about quality.

Fair point you raise...Haven seen the documentary on Al Jazeerah....."Scent from heaven".....one can only hope it is all legal and above board.....but then again...about two years ago a major food manufacturing company was caught out putting horse meat into their ready made meals....so, as with most things we buy in good faith, even if we are unsure of the actually market....Duplicity is everywhere nowadays...

Yes it is not easy or cheap and some locations not even possible with cultivated wood to get the cites!! My current distillation has its papers!!

Sometimes these papers are a work of fiction and what’s what is not always what it is and what it is is not always what’s printed on the cites , but what ever has that cites is what it says it is but might not really be that.
Got it?

What I meant was the fact that you're getting 10 mL for about the same price as shipping is a sign that the price of the oil is good, but never mind it's not worth spending this much time on! Yes fingers crossed this is as good as it was a year ago. Bit of a gamble...

it's no surprise you've got your ducks in a row...

Got an update from Amit at essentialoilscompany regarding the sandalwood. All is good it is shipping tomorrow. Will post my thoughts on this batch when I get it.

Grandawood sinensis co2 is in the US and should be here Monday.

just ordered 25 g of cultivated kinam shavings from EJayB which I am going to use to prepare a tincture. As per EJayB's advice I will extract in ice cold ethanol as this can prevent too much wax from getting extracted. I have read that kinam does not make a hard or brittle resin though and tends to make more fluid extracts (article at kyarazen mentions how co2 extracts of sinensis are not hard and solid like other types of agarwood).

I may also do a room temp or heated tincture of some of the shaving just to see what kind of consistence difference there is.

Got an ml of Nha Trang Ultima on the way. Went with it over Guallam no 1 --- hope I made the right decision! Excited!

Also waiting (for what feels like forever) for a bottle of OJIIM from January Scent Project. A beautiful vintage-ingredient perfume centered around a beautiful aged cumin Co2 extraction, some lovely old roses and a bit of oud: "Ojiim is an Eastern rose and cumin perfume. Its top notes are antique citron and bergamot, with middle notes of rose de mai, antique palmarosa, pink pepper, and cumin CO2, and base notes of castoreum accord, Australian sandalwood, treemoss, agarwood, antique styrax resin, and benzoin."

I've worn the sample a bit, very deep, like wine.

Grandawood sinensis co2 will be here Monday. Amit's sandalwood (50 ml!) will be here Thursday. Big ticket inbound item though? Yong heng air compressor on the way... if any of you shoot pcp airguns or paintball that uses HPA you might know what this is. These airguns have to be pre-charged (they have mini scuba type tanks) and i have been stubbornly hand pumping them to 3600 psi for the last 6 months... good for my upper body strength but hard on my wrist joints and tendons. My 100 lb daughter does not weigh enough to push the pump handle down - it's like 110 lbs+ per pump and takes 50-150 pumps to fill a tank. So I finally caved in and ordered a compressor.

the hobbies that keep me (somewhat) sane:

Incense and fragrance
RC fpv drones
Airgun modification and construction, target shooting
Art and musical diversions

I usually have some kind of "inbound" for one of these categories or another...

You certainly have your hands full Mr. P. Lol

Having a 15 year old daughter also staying home full time to avoid Covid adds another layer of busyness. If only she likes the same hobbies as me...

we both like to read, so that is good.

as for being busy, one or more of these always gets pushed to the back burner... kind of comes in waves. I sense an RC drone wave coming soon... been a while and those things need to be flown!

I have a few drone enthusiasts where I am at. I live in a country town and alhamdulillah we have vast open fields. So ideal for drones. I am not into it personally but I enjoy seeing my folks flying them.

bloody hell, I can only imagine! I inflate my bicycle tyres to 90-100PSI and that takes some pumping! Guess it doesn't push out as much pressure as yours though
