Can someone explain to me how green cultivated kynam/kyara wood smell differs from good quality regular agarwood?
If it's at least as good as high grade regular agarwood i might just order regular amount from some seller like 9 regions.
Also do you know any seller of this in EU where i could sample it?

It looks like there are problems now with ordering from the UK or receiving samples, my package from pureoudh is stuck with customs for now. Brexit and all that stuff.

Green and white CK are Aquilaria Sinensis and don't look behave or smell like "regular" agarwood at all to me. Rather, CK in my experience gives off a very light minty floral, refreshing aroma and very dense oil content.

While it smells great and seems to go in forever on the subitism it lacks something intangible in my opinion.

I myself have samples/stashes of wild agarwood from alot of different regions. Malaysian has always been my favorite but also love my green oil Kyara.
That being said I have found that the sources I'm buying my cultivated agarwood from has such wonderful notes that I have completely stopped looking for wild wood. With all the different colors of kinam available which you can mix and match(a sliver of green with a sliver of purple blows my mind) really increase the complexness of the notes and make it very close to agarwood that I have spent $500 or more per gram for.

Of course your experience may vary but I would like to hear if you liked the cultivated?

As for oud oils, I've tried cultivated and wild and I liked them all, as for the wood only cultivated and i liked it.
There was no oud or agarwood wood that I did not like. 🙂

I have not tried wild agarwood wood nor any kinam/kyara yet.

Waiting on some wood from Indonesia, working with a new vendor so it’s a crap shot on grading and wood quality.
Kalimantan and malinau on its way and the sample size was 50 grams of each type as the seller only sells wood in Kg amounts
And it’s very important to have a return policy agreement on big orders. If I don’t like the samples I’ll be stuck with them and that’s ok because it’s just how it goes when buying wood sight unseen . Really looking forward to a few buying trips this year to purchase materials in person

Waiting for around 10 ouds and 6ml of them from pureoudh and pure sacra premium oil. I hope to get samples next week, and the bulk order within 1-2weeks, for the bulk one i prepaid customs vat tax so hopefully it will get quick.

The waiting is killing me.

I would like to try also cultivated green and purple kyara wood and blue lotus absolute, but not sure yet where to purchase genuine samples that won't cost me a leg and an arm.

I remember the days of having so many orders en-route I had to write them all down or I couldn't remember what was coming. Now significantly less affluent :'( I greatly look forward to making an order soon!
If you were to order an oud oil tonight, what would your first choice be?

I’ve been anticipating moving into my new home, which I have finally started after a long negotiation process. I’ve been in and out with family members and cleaners and contractors, but I haven’t had any time by myself in here until today and I am scenting the place with oud as I type. Some shoyeido tenpyo/ peaceful sky and some cultivated kinam on a subitism. Going to get this place smelling good. The house has some features that appeal to my aesthetic - an air exchanger so every room has fresh HEPA filtered air (can clear out the smoke when needed) and all of the water flows down from a famous old “healing” geothermal spring just up the road. I tested the water thoroughly and it’s nice and clean… comes from an ancient deep fault. Only treatment needed is a UV sanitizer to deal with some bacteria. Getting that put in tomorrow. 🙂

Sounds awesome, congrats!

Thanks it comes after the most difficult three years in my life, including separation from my wife, loss of a parent, illness of a child (recovered thank goodness) and living with a borderline narcissistic father. It has been very hard trying to keep a steady course through all of this and this represents the first island of personal retreat I’ve had in a long time.
