I agree. The Bulgarian is reliably good and with Rose, i am reluctant to engage in expensive experiments. Bulgarian / Alteya Organics is really a great deal compared to prices I see elsewhere…. From my experience with Turkish rose oil, vetted by someone who knew what they were doing, I know I am missing out on some really fine oils I just don’t know how to reliable to get my hands on them and I don’t want to spend 5 times the price of Bulgarian.

I have ordered all kinds of samples over the years, and so far the only one that I go back to is the Bulgarian otto and to a lesser degree, absolute.

I’m sure there are fantastic rose oils out there and I will try T’aif for sure at some point.

One great “one off” rose otto was offered by this emerging natural cosmetics company. Package literature said they had a large rose show garden, including all kinds of heirloom, fragrant roses, and the oil was distilled from the harvest of all of the various cultivars in the garden that were flowering at the same time. The oil, which, as far as I know was only sold in tester vials for a very short while was really rich and interesting, and I would love to be able to get more of that. Lush complex multifaceted very appetizing scent at full strength.

The company and becoming main stream, seem to have left that kind of creative work behind.

Totally agree with you about Alteya. As a side note, their prices on Etsy are more reasonable than Amazon🙂

I have found they are very different when it comes to standard grades. Typical Turkish Rose oil has dull generic berry notes that I really don’t like. I have found this note in Turkish Rose oil from completely different sources. It’s a weird berry note that isn’t fresh or appealing and just distracts from the rose scent.

I have smelled some Turkish rose oil, though, that has a very similar profile to top shelf Bulgarian. As I mentioned earlier, this was made by a small producer using traditional copper stills. The Turkish rose otto at av-at is excellent and their rose oil lacks these distracting notes.

I tend to never order Turkish rose oil, though, because I do not need another berry-scented mediocre rose oil in my collection and in my experience, the alteya Bulgarian oil is as good as the finest Turkish that I’ve smelled, and it’s available without having to track down some special producer and pay premium prices for small batch oils.
Al Shareef Oudh - Istanbuli is an excellent representation of small batch, traditional, high quality Turkish Rose otto done properly.
Even though this is the only Turkish Rose otto I own, it instantly recalled his Taif oil; fresh, sparkling, citronella, lemongrass, mint - but ultimately beautiful clean Rose. I get none of that distracting berry aroma or anything overly metallic. It’s very bright & pure.

At $70 for 2.5g you can’t go wrong.

I actually buy directly from www.bulgarianroseotto.com - haven’t seen better prices anywhere. That website is just another path to Alteya.

Excellent, thank you for the link. I’ll be sure to check out their oil. Good quality Bulgarian ottos can be almost as refined as Taifi imo.

I’m in love with Rose otto from most regions. Dabbing Rose oil onto my beard & the collars of my work shirts, is an uplifting start to the day. Full on psychoactive mood boosting effects.

Here’s something funny for you.

alteyaorganics.com and bulgarianroseotto.com are the same company. This is explicitly stated, and evident throughout both websites from logos and branding.

The first one has a very cosmetics oriented website design, with all of the most obvious tropes appealing to vanity, physical beauty, or self-indulgence, etc..

The second as a more basic website with plenty of feminine imagery, but with a more obvious focus on distilled Rose oil itself and less product clutter. I get it that one website is focusing on cosmetics in general based on Rose, whereas the other is just focusing on Rose oil and so they are trying to appeal to a different demographic of customers. I detest what I have seen of the way the cosmetic industry markets things in the United States at least. I’m a grumpy old man, because it pisses me off a bit to see the Bulgarian rose oil site dressed up like a magazine for insecure 16-year-old girls, but also because they sell the same product for different prices.

If you were to buy 4.3 mL of oil from the alteyaorganics, you’re paying about $10 more than if you were buying it from bulgarianroseotto.com

Caveat emptor…

Looking forward to this package.

Just arrived… 🙂

Shoyeido sandalwood squares, King’s Aroma, some fresh ash and a sampler of their “overtones” line and a ball of kneaded incense.

Also - a little over 4ml of organic certified Alteya Bulgarian rose otto.

I took a whiff, but haven’t applied any yet. It smells like a nice juicy batch. I’m excited to try it out.

As for inbound items, the only other thing coming is a nice compact air gun I’ve been eyeballing for a few years. I love target shooting in my yard - It is very calming, a kind of meditation and it doesn’t have all the annoying elements of fire arms, and the power is low enough that you can shoot in your yard without annoying or endangering your neighbors.

Nice bull pup! I've got a nice pellet rifle but no place to plink
I was shooting in my garage for a while there… recently moved to a more rural setting, and I’m enjoying it on several levels. I have friendly and tolerant neighbors, which makes everything better.

I’m waiting on my first test results to come back . I just sent off the one log oil for testing along with another sandalwood oil I made from roots . I am making a mixed oil of different parts of the sandalwood tree .
Everything is Indonesian and it includes a bit of outside shavings a bit of aged roots from previously harvested trees and the heartwood from old trees of more than 70 year old trees. This material is going to be ground and mixed then distilled together.
I had to test all 3 oils separately. I made the roots and heartwood oil here in California my partners made the shavings oil at the distillery in Indonesia. Now I’ll formulate the exact % of each material that will go into the pot. The new standardized artisanal Indonesian sandalwood oil should start to flow soon .
The anticipation is high

I recently saw a video on YouTube on the advancements these airguns/rifles have made, and some of these newer rifles are very capable, I think it was FX or something like that, was doing 200yards

There’s a manufacturer called altaros that make a long range airgun with verified repeatable accuracy at 500m and well beyond.

This one you cannot get in the United States yet, but apparently they are working on it.

FX makes some very nice airguns from what I have read… they are shockingly expensive.

ok so i have two "kyara" oils that just reached Ellas, from the perfumist.

So much controversy here. In being the black sheep most of my life i wanted to see if this guy the perfumist is really a fraud or a black sheep. I have read so much on him here on the forum and also nothing made sense from all i had read on him. some very trusted friends here on the forum including distillers told me im waisting my time, but still i was curious because i trust nothing but my own senses and i am hard headed.

after reaching out countless times on his instagram account and was always turned down when i asked him to sell me tiny samples, he finaly gave me a number to call and so i did and talked to the owner and perfumer cause supposedly the instagram was run by someone else. we talked on the phone for 1hour about kinam and prices of distilled oils and the reason they are so expensive or cheap, why these oils are so cheap that he is selling if they are true kyara etc. the guy seemed to know his stuff as far as kynam goes. he told me he will send me a drop of each of his "wild kyara oils" free. he even shipped them fedex free. to be honnest, i HIGHLY DOUBT that these are distilled kyara like he claims. the prices would be insane and he gifted them. BUT, even if they are attars that have some co2 kyara in them, i will be happy. if they smell right and anything resembling wild kyara or even super high grade cultivated i will be happy. but it will still be messed up to label these things as true kyara oil.

if these are attars that hit the spot i will gladly buy more.

other than that, my Imperial Oud Hainan Kinam oil will be in my hands within 2days i suppose and hope.
