It's a very old stash of CO2 extract from white lotus I don't know if it's any different from any other ambrette out there.

ASO Al Layl

I opened my pkg. from ASO today
and a sample of Al Layl was included.

I have no background information on this oil
and have not inquired about it.

My son says that it reminds him of chocolate.
To me........ I get
Chocolate, coffee, tobacco, roasty bitter oud but not smoke, ambergris, vanilla, musk, florals, and spice.
But more than the notes, I am moved by this oil, it hits me big-time as a hauntingly familiar scent, that takes me to my early days in my oud journey, and on top of that, the floral blend in this oil smells great, I wish I knew what florals they are.
The overall profile screams Eastern not Western,
and I’m trying hard to be critical of the blend,
but it is seamless, so I secede.

I’m impressed and can’t stop sniffing the swipe.
I also feel that this oil deserves an extrait version
for those who like to lavishly spray themselves:Roflmao:

Whoah that sounds nice. ASO has sent me some jaw dropping samples for sure. Both mukhs and ouds.

I am here to write about musk ambrette, the Thai tamer. Some Thai oils are cloying in a way that really turns me off. I can't pin the note - a strange pervasive sour fuzzy tang that catches in my craw. But add a drop of ambrette... somehow it just kills that note and makes it smell like a mellow old Ajmal cambodi. Which may not be what I'm looking for but it's much better than a sour Thai.

How's that Bangladesh sandal??

HAYAA by Swiss Arabian. Smells sweet and floral with a woody amber type backbone. I got a sample pack a few months ago and am slowly working my way through it. Some of them are quite nice.

Once again I must draw your attention to the awesome combination of cheap Thai agarwood plus ambrette. Whips that offensive Thai tang into shape on the double. Leaves a really interesting residue.

Hi, actually to me, I like it as much as older version, I think the difference is very minimal, overall experience still quite the same, I don't have older version to do side comparison.

Yes, the scent is nice. To me, the older is a bit more forceful. But that may be the effect of aging. I miss the pronounced green tea note of the old Parfum but this one is quite beautiful, as well. No complaints on either.

Sotn : soryo no kaori by Agar aura

Just received decant from my good friend tdy, too bad it leaked but the scent is really gorgeous , looking forward Neriko.

A lot of spray mechanisms rely on a little ball that is spring loaded to keep the liquid from leaking.

If an Artisanal blend uses resins, the resins might coat the ball and prevent it from maintaining a good seal.

That’s why I like the idea of Serege Lutens, their bottles ship with a secure twist cap, and they include the pump spray for you to screw on yourself.
.....let’s say you’re traveling and you pack your spray perfume, then it leaks.....now you are flameable😱
and if it was Kinam Attar, then what a waste🙁, but if you had the two caps, you could remove the pump spray and use the safe cap😉

Just received a new package from Sultan Pasha. Chypre Crysanthemum, Irisoir and two bottles of Basmati Rose for my girl(it’s a going away present, since she leaves tomorrow to film a pilot for a TV show, fingers crossed). He threw in some extra goodies and asked for opinions on works in progress. What a joyful day when you get a package from Sultan!

wearing Chypre Crysanthemum. Great three stage classical French composition in attar form.
