I'm working with very small amounts. Wouldn't risk it with any real amount of E. Gazi that I couldn't afford to lose. Thank god I didn't because the result isn't as good as the oud itself.

I think E. Gazi infused with musk would be good, just to enhance the amazing smell that Gazi already has. That's going to be my next experiment. Maybe pure ambergris too because I think the sandalwood imposes in a way I don't like.
Try white or grey ambergris they usually have weaker smell when compared to brown and black. Also if you have perfume testing strips I think it would be better to apply a little of each in different strips and wave them together in the air and see if you like the smell.

I have never used any kind of pure ambergris. Do you know where I can get good quality ambergris of all types?

Areej Le Dore Baikal Gris

I am so happy I got to experience this one. To me this smells exceptionally unconventional. Very comforting scent to me.

Fir balsam, chalky, and a bit oceanic. Sandalwood is apparent and has become more pronounced over the time. I smell nagamotha deep down, which adds a contrast to rather smooth finishes from sandalwood.

I recently purchased some 75 year old Mysore sandalwood heartwood. Just 1gm.
But oh my heavens!!!!
What an absolutely deep creamy woody scent. Seems to last at least 12 hours and still quite potent. Just layered a small dab of Taif' as these two seem to enjoy each others company.

ASO Al Ghaliyah 2

Grandaddy of an attar.

Reminds me a little of Ishraaq tbh albeit a little more simpler with the tobacco note dialled wayyyy back down.I love how the rose provides sweetness to this composition without screaming ROSE.Surprisingly, the musk used in this has no urinous facets as one might expect from the Siberian type, but rather it provides an earthy, chocolate accord that marries so well with everything else inside. The oudh along with the other ingredients has been blended really well making its origins difficult to pinpoint, but there is this nutty-hay like smell smell at the end of each waft that makes me think Hindi/Asian Subcontinent.

Great stuff which I'd love to get a bottle of one day :praying:!

RPP - Tipu Mysore

initially, I thought it smells quite dull because it takes some time to really open up.
and it sits very close to the skin. but the scent is exquisite.
to my nose, it's the sweetest, cleanest sandalwood oil I've ever smelt.
$85 for 1g is quite a hefty price tag in my opinion because I wouldn't use it as a standalone fragrance.
but as a fixative, base note? hell, yes. it'd be fantastic material to do that.

Sultan's Rose by EO:
First, it is, unquestionably, beautiful. Rose with this much depth is amazing!
Second, there is a hint of rose absolute scent in the background. As usual, I used it without reading anything about it. I felt it is either an attar, or at least a blend of rose oil and rose absolute. (Hope some rose connoisseur describes its nature.)
Third,
Third, it didn't congeal or solidify. Again, a rose expert can shed light on nature of Rose oils.
Fourth, if it is used in making some Musk attar, the blend will be crazy gorgeous.

Wearing Creed Aventus in this cold and breezy day. I feel like Napoleon 😅🐎

I know this is forum is for artisanal and ultra-niche perfumery and the like. But just felt like sharing it as Creed Aventus truly is unique and beautiful, so there are many who try to create their interpretation of it by its inspiration. This batch I have a decant of is 17W11, it's very heavy on ambergris and smokey-pineappls goodness. Aging beautifully 👌

I still have plans to dose some of my 18p11 (I think this is the one I have?) With some genuine musk grains. Feel like it would go really well together!

Good morning friends, wish yall a very Happy New Year, its a pleasure being a part of this community . The best part about last year apart from enjoying various incenses, ouds and attars was my first musk and Sandalwood maceration. I carry this with me everyday to work since the day of maceration. The picture I posted is from the first day ( approx a month back) and the second picture is from today. I am hoping to continue this journey with yall in coming years and enjoy this olfactory experience.
Best wishes to all of yall and your family 🙂
