What is crazy is I have many kinams they all almost look very much alike. It is so impressive how extremely different they smell

Even regular AGARWOOD has different notes to the scent from different places in the same tree , depending on location in the tree and level of infection
It’s honestly part of the allure as I enjoy heating wood regularly ( a few times a day) and look forward to any drifts in the scent profile of the wood I’m heating.
If I only owned a gram or two of a certain wood I wouldn’t want to burn it up but would keep it as a reference. And start looking for more 😂🤣
Today I’m heating a juicy piece of Vietnamese wood , ahhhhh

thankfully this caliber pieces are very potent on the heater and even at tiny amounts .005g is an amazing potent kodo session, at .03 the room filles up with the aroma. Its funny you say cause I have not heated my top 3 more than about 5x each and this is not even 5% of the quantity and i have had them for years. Still can't find something as good or even close and my Vietnamese sources nowadays have only 5-9g chunks. Look at this baby my source showed me 2days ago, I almost cried

Hello guys , last night i have an amazing sniff session with other two oudheads in Abu Dhabi , most interesting part is about this chinese from picture .
Most of you might going crazy when see such an amazing piece full of resin and look exactlly like real kinam formation ,amazing full sink crazy resin and some parts look like kinam....lets make it simple ...we all been actually amaze it was fake ,but not in terms of cultivated kinam ,is nit even that ,not even agarwood ,is just a fake wood with almost zero smell ,very weird and very very faint smell at slow heat or burn ,burning eyes etc .The person who own this was ripped off with 1600$ dollar for this piece !!!
Dont ask me how is possible cuz i really dont know ,i m amaze how they create and who create this ,cuz look very very real ,so what is the purpose of this post ? Just be carrefull when spend crazy amount of money for such a high grade wood without you are 100% sure is from trusty vendor !!!

A lot of fake wood in the market these days and it gets crazier looking all the time.
Buying sight unseen from unknown vendors is just something to avoid. The old bait
( first small order with good wood) and switch ( second order that's big but they send bunk wood) is probably the most popular move I see. Got to know your vendors or shop In Person.

I have a kinam pellet in my mouth for 2hours so far, still numbing whatever it touches and I can't stop smelling my breath. I put it under my tongue for quicker absorption as it is also very good for the heart. Soon as it stops being numbing I will bite it in half. I realize some days ago that my name starts with K and my last name starts with Z. That is KZ...pretty cool...K=Kyara and Z= Zen I was born for this Kyara Zen 😆

I've seen this kind of wood being touted as "something special" from Philippines, etc. Glad to know that it's what I thought it was: not even agarwood.

I split a fair amount of firewood and I have seen resin filled heartwood from some evergreens that looks and feels quite a bit like kinam / kyara and the wood in the image. It is even glutinous and pliable and you can squeeze a little oil out. So no surprise there may be other species that look like it or maybe it can be faked with pressure or some other treatment.

Awesome posts - I don’t have the means to engage so deeply with oud, but I admire your adventurous spirit and find your posts inspiring!

I am beyond grateful to have had the chance to meet this forum, the people in it and to have had the ability to experience such kinams. I am also very happy to have shared many woods and also ideas and website sources with a lot of people in this great community. I feel like the journey is still very young and we all have a long way to go still.
