Heating some medium quality sulawesi agarwood. The smell is classic agarwood, sweet flowery, nothing really special. I am not really sure about whether it’s wild or not. The vendor claimed it is

wild.

got it for 1000 $ in kyarashrine. It's a bit overpriced but yeah, it's a risk being an amateur consumer for agarwood. I just an average person that want know how it smells so why there are so many unstrustable vendors. Even @languange scent got ripped off a few times.
You can get these 220v warmers on aliexpress for less than 30 dollars fyi, much cultivated kinam too. Where much of Etsy stuff comes from🙂

Brunei Dar Al Salam King - Al Shareef Oudh.
Dense hard pieces, packed with resin. Beautiful scent, pristine Brunei aroma; minty / camphor, purple floral, mineralic, resinous sweetness of plum / dates / red berries.
I have several batches of various Brunei wood & they all make me swoon, it’s my favourite region to burn at the moment.

how is the pieces in quality brother?
also how oily and notes in specific 😀
Since they are small pieces, they are a mixed lot, I get around five different profiles. Majority of the pieces have a lot of resin and oil, so when heated they are fully covered with the oil and resin and stick to the mica sheet.

Depending on the piece, I get a lot of fruity floral, honey, honey suckle, melon, cooling effect, oud oil like IO Super Hoi An, enough oudiness that lets you know it’s agarwood but not overly oudy, sometimes medicinal or a touch spicy, every now and then orange citrus. Once in a while a hint of kinam, although I don’t get much bitterness, and lastly some have a very slightly muskiness (I love those). Then around 10% are mostly resinous with less oil and less fruity floral.

My last batch from Japan had slightly bigger pieces mixed in, they weren’t as resinous and the aroma was not satisfactory, so now I think only 75% of the pieces are nice.

The nice thing is that most of the pieces look like they were taken from larger pieces that had thick layers of resination. No skins or ant nest type. No glue, no dirt, no paint, no coatings.

I actually heat it everyday, along with the NK Borneo and Shoyeido Matsu square cut wether I post about it or not. They are my daily trio with others mixed in now and then. And since it is my firm belief that everything we inhale gets into our system and will affect us, I feel that my daily trio is compatible with my system, because I never feel any ill effects from them.

Tonights burn is a really old piece of Lanete. Stated at low tempreture with a very rich smell of vanilla, becoming more and more floral as the tempreture increased. At melting point of the resin has a very spicy note.

thanks for informative post!
they look like soil wood seen many red soils and yellow with same looks, aroma would be different or same is another story.
from what i been told by some Chinese sellers not all soil woods called red soil even if they were dig from same place
some of them they call Qinan/chinan skins or melon aloes, small pieces get mixed with small red soils, and big pieces sold separately especially if they are beads grade.
i'll get myself 6gram or more of the NK ones, hopefully its to my liking 😀

Mugwort, sandalwood and patchouli on the wabisabitism burner. Quite nice for a relatively short while before turning into a dried smoking vegetation situation. Just a matter of balancing the wood in the herbs.

Heating some Malinau high quality triple super agarwood. Got 200 gram for 650 US $. Pretty expensive but i can get unique shapes (basically every type of agarwood shape) from char, and nest, chips, beetle hole, etc. It smells very minty, frankincense, clean, and little bit zesty. Almost like it’s not oud, there isn’t any hint of sweetness flowery that every oud has, just little bit sweet there with 0 barnyard note. It’s almost no smell after long period of heating.

This is the most unique oud i’ve ever encountered, almost like a woman’s fragnace. Not my favourite but i learn about agarwood shapes and how minty agarwood can be

Today it was time to burn some wood and learn more about the different profiles.
I have a sample pack from The Attar Store.
I started with the mysore vintage sandalwood. A beautiful classic sandalwood aroma.
Sinking Leyte - this was an amazing experience, a trip!
Started with a floral, earthy and oudy blast. Then some citrussy aspects joined and its like a bakhoor mix 😆 Later its more jungly and earthy.
After that some viet incense - Floral and leathery scent. A bold profile close to what I am used to smell in arab world.
Brunei - I need a round 2 with this. Floral and classic oudy smell. Didnt smell special for me.
Kalinantan - its my favorite for now
Its so complex oceanic, salty, floral a whiff of this and a whiff of that.

Thank you for the experience brother Hamza 😁

That sent profile is very typical of leyte wood. It dose tend to be a very floral smell but changes a lot with different tempretures. Not all philippines wood has a citrus type note, lapnisan tends to start citrus with a very heavy lemon smell, I personally like the citrus over tones.

Thank you for confirming and explaining! 😁

Todays burn is some rather lovely Lapnisan, sinking grade that I swapped here for some ambergrise. It was harvested in Mati further south to other woods I've tried here. Will give a report after I've heated....
At low tempreture has a very forest fresh smell, woody with a hint of lemon, the lemon smell is increasing with the tempreture. Has a very fruity smell with almost a hint of musk. Its not spicey like the local wood here, that may develop with heat.
