Yamadamatsu Kyara (grade unknown, probably mid-grade)

This tiny packet of kyara came with the Koh-do set that I bought. Spent the better part of an hour cutting tiny splinters of this kyara into even smaller pieces for Koh-do and ended up dropping a piece on the floor and finding it after sifting through the dirt on my floor for half an hour. Thankfully, the reward of burning these suitable pieces of kyara was more than worth the effort. I have not until now appreciated how profoundly numbing and bitter the smell of kyara is. Sure, the stereotype behind kyara is vanilla and menthol, but so many other kinds of non-kyara aloeswood can match this superficial profile with ease. The true smell of kyara that distinguishes it from similar aloeswood must be the bitterness.

This morning was some Indonesian wood from a random hunter I bought in a village in Sumatra.
It’s not the best cleaning job yet altogether not bad and probably double super I’d grade it but the smell is otherworldly and amazing beyond wood of a much higher quality.
This is the best daily burn wood I have now and I need more !!! Too bad every batch is different and this guy only had 1 ounce , which they informed me was 100 grams (1/10 kg )in the village weight.

Today it is a bit from a sample of Sri Lankan sandalwood root powder from AlHind Oud.

This is a really nice sandalwood. The aroma is sweet, warm, complex - classic santalum album. Love this sample!
