Brunei Temburong Microcarpa by @Ouddilicious - *really* good!! I put on a decent size chunk when I got home, went upstairs for a few minutes and was greeted with an awesome scent as I walked past my heater after coming downstairs. I really can't put woods into words as I do with oils (not that I do well with that!) but just really good.
Excellent value for money for woods from here, always.
Man it's great having my sense of smell back again.

Al Shareef maroke on the candle burner. I think this is my preferred way to burn this wood - lovely sweet incensy aroma that reminds me of the boxes of Baieido’s “jinko extra” granules I used to buy.

Yamada Matsu SA granules on the tea light burner.

Very nice deep bitter sweet heart filling the living room. The past few days I’ve really been enjoying the heart/base of these heated woods. Top notes are intriguing but that bitter/sweet core is just amazing. That is something that never really comes through in the oil in my experience.

The merauke from Al shareef I burned yesterday just blew my mind - that wood really shone on that little candle burner.

Purple Shin Kyara and sinking Vietnamese.

Kyara and cream. A lovely combination. I don’t know if it’s just me but all the different colored shin kyaras smell the same to me. All wonderful but all the same. Maybe I need to spend some more time with them back to back. Or maybe I’m just terrible at picking out top notes? Who’s to say .

So I got my tea light burner, my candles don't seem to have much heat, fail on the Oud but it does seem to simmer the resin just fine.

Does it have a mesh / screen insert? That is what I use with the woods. Helps if you break the wood up into splinters or small granules. I’ve had really nice burns with everything including cultivated kinam. I’ve not yet dried using the solid bottom cup or foil.

I call mine “the scorcher” because that sucker gets hot and somehow I end up touching something hot when I try to adjust or recharge the oud.

Very similar but subtle differences in the top notes for me and also in the overall aroma. I have green, black, purple, “dark body round leaf” type and all seem pretty much as close as you can be while still being a little bit different. I have no idea if I’d be able to make anything out in a blind smell test but with a little more studying, I think I might be able to. I like the way the dark body round leaf fills the room for example - a sweet scent that is more or less honey like to my nose. I think the black has had a little more spiciness or something in the top note. Still haven’t studied purple and green enough to have identified what sets them apart.
