this morning, a thin slice of Tarakan from @YusaAromatics while I ate breakfast. Fantastic ouddy smell lingering after I came downstairs to grab my bike and leave the house after getting ready upstairs
Looks great! A pick made from sandalwood- good idea? I've only used plastic ones, do wood ones work too? This will be my burn of the day soon! A sample that came along with an order from olefaktory: slice of the old Mysore log that ejayb has been working on cooking up.
I’ve been carrying it around in my hand, a little bit and exudes all the right smells. I might sand this flat and make it into a guitar pick but not before I burn a little bit of it. I’ll report back with results later.View attachment 30132
havent in a little bit. i have had amazing results tincturing in white ambergris that has been tinctured twice, meaning i evaporated the alcohol aftre a year, collected the ambergris and soaked it again in more alcoholLanguagescent are you still messing around with kinam / kyara extractions?
i have a crazy extract made from literally 30 different kinams and it is crazy beautiful extremely deep and long lasting. whats strange is that while it doesnt smell more than 10 cm further from application point when it is hot you can smell it lingering in the air. also it seems that there are different stages in the aroma because some of the constituents evaporate faster than the others while on skin and the aroma changes a couple times. i wish it had crazy potency like perfume power lol but it is like a drydown of an oil in power. still gorgeous and amazing to me. on the heater it is gloriousLanguagescent are you still messing around with kinam / kyara extractions?
I actually had been planning to fry some in low temp lol with a carrier oil I bet the oil will smell amazingIt’s really puzzling to me the difference between the low temp extracts and the smell of gently heated wood. I wonder if there is a way to release that heated wood scent when extracting or distilling?
I saw a Japanese patent for a device that heated kinam in one chamber while a forced air stream blew the smoke into another chamber through a tube where it was forced to bubble through some carrier oil or perhaps alcohol. A little bit like attar creation, but not relying on steam pressure to push stuff into the receiver.
I imagine you could make a potent kinam smoke oil that way.
