Shoyeido Matsu Chunk

I’m almost reluctant to chisel slivers from this resinated nugget, but such is heating oudh…..you gotta do it😄

The aroma was dominated by the resin note.

Everytine I read bro @iori posts on heat of the day I end up heating the things he talks about lol in particular this iron oil! Brother described it perfectly! I’m so grateful to have this 1.65g chunk! It’s crazy with kyara so many pieces take away your attention when you have them and completely forget how other pieces smell then you visit and are blown away again and in love. the iron oil which I thought was a purple but definitely different than other purple I have is to me like a kyara if it was a smelly crystal, has Chinese vibes but also super high grade nha Trang vibes all in the unmistaken kyara backbone!
thats really great piece of kyara, love it dearly...wonder when this obsession with Rikkokugomi will end lol=/
Heating managa from brother Koz, literally feeling cherry in mouth, super awesome wood with nice complexity..
having heating many managas, its really charming wood, differ in many ways but have that connection at the core of them all.
Some Tarakan today … one of my fav regions …
mine too, tarakan and malinau best indo wood imo

True Ouddict
After having a couple of months break from posting on Ouddict it’s great to see all the usual suspects & what woods they’ve been burning.
In a previous order from The Oud Lab I was graciously given a number of free samples by AT. Like all of his oils etc, his woods have been selected with a discerning nose, he provides such a high quality product to his customers.
TOL’s oils / woods have a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’, a meeting point between a the modern & traditional. Incensey, resinous, dense aroma profiles, yet pristine & refined.

Kali Luv was one of the free samples I mentioned before. I believe it’s yet to be released, but I’ll definitely be picking up 10 or 20 grams when it’s listed because this is some very fine sinking Kalimantan wood.
Beautifully resinated, packed full of oil which bubbles at low heat, however most importantly the aroma profile is spot on.
When it first goes on the burner one experiences the green, jungle, minty, floral top notes synonymous with woods from this region. The longer it bubbles away the scent becomes less ‘cool’ / ethereal & begins to display a ‘hotter’ profile with its various spices, dark Oud resin, the touch of leather. Eventually, in the bottom note the profile becomes honeyed & anisic, ending with the refined sweetness of vanilla & coumarin.
I’m probably off the mark, however this rounded mature resinous sweetness indicates to me a high grade of wood. All the best woods in my collection end with similar scent profile after their variation in the top & mid note.
Excellent stuff.

another piece of purple kyara
dense bitternesss, heavey comes slowly to nose but hit hard, the milky and floral in this toned down compare to other ones, also unique sweetness
