Crystal clear notes, unbelievable charm and elegance surround the heart, cooling, fragrance of flowers, sweet fruit soothe the mind and capture the body, its been a while since i heated it the aroma of it stuck on fingers when i was getting shavings of it.
Japanese accurate 100% when the describe it as "Noble"!

Kangiiten - Malaysia Tigerwood
On low heat its a really beautiful, floral, oudy scent. On higher heat it gets more to bold oud and jungle nuances join.
I will give it more time and focus next time

Kangiiten - Shin Kyara (Golden Leaf Kynam)
60°c: rich, floral and creamy, soft cinnamon and milky sweet
80°c: slight green, spicy nuances showing up
120-140°c: more green spicy and cinnamon with the milky sweet texture
After that I heated a different CK just to understand how different it smells in direct comparison and WoW.
The Cultivated kinam from Sulaym started floral and with an obvious green scent that just explodes on higher heat. Pure green spicy piercing aroma that tickles the nose.
The golden leaf is more my style as I love gourmand notes (vanilla, milk and cacao) and on low heat its like I am eating the aroma 😋

Very nice. I wanted some of that Malaysia Tigerwood but didn't manage to grab any. I did get the Golden Leaf however and agree with you on it's perfection. It's a real indulgence this one.

2022 Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India

@RisingPhoenix released quite a lot of oud oils featuring approximate regions to Khasi Hills. and they all exhibited a similar cookie like sweetness.

that pleasant sweetness is in this wood as well. however, saying it just smells like cookie is a bit of understatement considering the many nuances this wood presents.

listening to the wood more closely, I feel it has some vanilla, hazelnut, tobacco, and sugarcane.
making it sing at a low temp for a while made my room smells like a Turkish coffee shop. wonderful stuff.

There's definitely a lot more thin and fragile delicate type wood chips than I remember seeing my first started.

I am guessing straight heartwood from nay agarwood tree, that is, of course, producing resin and oil, is much higher priced too most of the time?
It depends on the seller. I paid less for heartwood from Shoyeido, Yamadamatsu, Kangiiten and KZ than flakes and chars from others. But I guess those other types are technically heartwood also, just not from bead grade formations.

i'm sure it's just a matter of how much you're willing to pay. maybe less on the market?

Here is the one nice heartwood piece i have managed to collect. I've posted this picture here like 20 times already probably ha ha. Very rich heavy bittersweet smoke, honey scent, spicy, slight cinnamon, and lots of bubbling resin on the burner, but this wood is a bit animalic for my tastes so it is rare that I heat any of it.

Brunei K on the heater today.

I see that KZ has Brunei K Tea Grade powder.
It is from the less resinous pieces that have exceptional room temperature fragrance, suggesting to contain more volatile oils than resin. I’m interested, but I prefer the actual wood than powders, unless I grind it myself🤪
Have you ever heated the powder ?

Heating up some ancient wood.

This is an old old piece of wood - from the Edo / Early Meiji Era. 1860’s at latest, given the provenance.

Not positive on the exact origin.
I think it’s Cambodi, based primarily on its scent, but also on its color and grain.

Very strong room temp aroma. Almost animalic smelling - which also makes me think it could be very old Laos.

On the heater - no sourness, but very fruity and Oudy. Smells insanely good. Blissfully happy right now. 🥰
