Been burning Autumn Leave by Baieido all day, managed to finish off my pack of 35 sticks.
Also managed to finish a Goloka Nag Champa, Indian incense - nice to finally use up some of what I've bought.
I went crazy at the start of the year and bought endless amount of incense so it's nice to see some getting used up. I haven't bought any new stuff in 3 months or so 🙂
At this rate (literally burning all day over weekends and time off work) it'll take a year (or more!) to use what I have.

I've been meaning to burn some oud but with the constant incense sticks on the go I figured it'd be a waste so haven't heated any oud

Lit-up the entire Yamadamatsu Shuju series this morning. All 6 of them. However, I am down to two inches of the Kyara. I wish I got a box, but now it is no longer available :Cautious:

I also pay attention to the first waves of the smoke, it reveals the resin, and when the ember is extinguished, I smell the tip right away, it reveals the smell of the agarwood on gentle heat, sure enough, the region shows itself.

Lit a few Vietnamese sticks this morning.

Reflection......🙄
The only Nha Trang-anything I have tried is the KZ stick (not the top grade), and Nha Trang powder from Incense House. Then I have tried about seven different Vietnamese Oudh chips, and several Vietnamese sticks. As for oud, just the Eau Du Vietnam and Kinam Rouge.

But to this day, I am still not confident in knowing the “Nha Trang Profile”, for that matter, I’m not sure about Hoi An either.

I probably smelled them already, but I couldn’t tell you which is which.

When is KZ going to conduct an Incense Master Class here in the US?:Roflmao:

I've just dropped by home for a day or two prior to heading back out to the abyss. Decided to chuck some Brunei Sultan on the Burner, and while the wintergreen, vanilla mint unfolded and smoke wafted outside the living room window...my down-stair neighbor knocked my door to ask me where I got my Oud from. Little does he know 😉

Dr. Incense Traditionally Processed Tarakan
Incense stick.

What does that mean?

(“In order to process the agarwood, we need to break it into small pieces at first, then put it into cotton bags which hung in the pot but do not touch the bottom. Cooked slowly by using honey water for a whole day.”)

The aroma doesn’t seem to be affected by this process, the Tarakan agarwood profile is still strong.

Seijudo Shiragiku

The most Kinam out ouf a stick that supposedly has no kinam in it😕

I don’t know how they do it, but it works!

There are some non-kinan woods that really recall that bitter sweet kyara note when heated properly!

Made a little chipped mixture - aloeswood granules, spikenard toot, patchouli and Borneo camphor from Yamada matsu, plus some nice oily clove bud. Kind of rustic scent reminiscent of some chipped mixtures I have sampled. Spikenard is a hard one to get right - it adds what I experience as a very musk-like quality (in addition to the valerian funk).

Some wood stock added for Ramadhan [emoji7]
