I thought prof incense was KZ himself. Well, formulation and guidance from KZ and kangiiten make it in larger batches by machine. And the name is a knock at doctor incense who was once a biz partner of KZ but different practices and philosophies saw them go separate ways. I’ll keep it at that…

Dr.Incense - Cool Moon

chenpi(aged mandarin peel) is not an ingredient that I'm familiar with.
thinking about mandarin, I expected it to smell zesty, but it's not.
it's very smooth in texture and resembles the nuances of apricot, reminds me of a good quality washed processe Ethiopian coffee. (if you know, you know 😅)

very intriguing blend, indeed.

Has anyone tried these new sticks?

Tennen Dai-Kyara, Green and Purple Kyara
Kyara Enkuu, Green Kyara

From Tennendo?

I assume they are made from cultivated kynam but the price is even still quite high.

Just seems odd they would release a bunch of actual kyara sticks at this point in history.

Price is $6-$9 a stick - which seems absolutely insane if it's just cultivated wood.

not sure why would you assume that without evidence?
those were released because of the 400 years anniversary of the company.
Dai-kyara is green/purple kyara, high end vietnamese, sandal and charcoal
Kyara Enkuu green kyara, high end vietnamese, sandal and charcoal
there is also sandal sticks released with those two b(~ _^)d

Thanks for the info! Have you tried them?

I assumed that primarily because we are in 2023 where many incense houses are getting rid of their kyara sticks due to lack of supply, etc. Plus the massive explosion of cultivated kinam over the last few years. So it just seemed odd that a company would come out with 3 new Kyara based sticks in a time when many incense houses are getting rid of theirs or massively changing their formula.

despite many claims, there is good amount of kyaras...many stop making them or limit the stock of sticks because of price, and weird as it sounds for some...getting real old Rakoku, managa, mannaban way harder than getting kyaras "with its 8+ colors in japan and even special ones which doesn't fall under color system or named pieces"
there is still high end sticks there yet prices is high...like NK Fugaku, some Yamadamatsu specially selected kyaras sticks "cost around 550k yen" also dealing with different houses as i bought many kyaras, rakoku, managa etc haven't seen the proper houses offer me anything cultivated at all, however big issue with some company's getting high end stuff will require some kind of long relation or someone you know might introduce you to them...all thanks to chinese =/

another issue we don't know how much % kyara are in sticks, besides enju having 60%+ and En no sho iirc were around 10-15%
i believe they even had two different high end sticks one is Kyara of rikkokugomi and other high end kyara...
anyway the Tennendo 400 years kyaras sticks and sandal are limited in quantity, not sure how many of them they made.

haven't got my samples yet but hoping to have them by end of month, also one of friend ordered them so i'll let you know when he get them and how they are in comparison to other kyara sticks.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and insight. I am not so well versed in the ways and dealings of these houses so it's good to learn more.

Aden - Al Shareef Oudh. A heavenly Bakhoor, inspired by an ancient Yemeni formula.

Smells absolutely divine on low heat. It’s hard to pin point the exact materials as the blending is superb, forming a beautiful compact aroma in the air.

Musky / Floral / Hojari with a delicious honey / candy sweetness, Oud plays a supporting role, but is definitely present. Magnificent!

OK would you please explain what you mean by the scent of nothing? I am intrigued!
