SULAYM - Walla Pata, hang on...? Sulaym doesn't have incense on his website? No, he doesn't, but I've made some and it's pretty bloody good.

A mega-burn session today! Mind you with a very tiny piece of coal, I went through:

- @An Najwa 's Al Bayt Al Haram - just a pinch and I was set!
- @SULAYM 's Royal Bakhoor - not even a pinch was needed, two tiny slivers filled the whole room, I feel there's some kind of musk used here, a beautiful, ultra clean burning blend
- @AbuTominaga TheOudLab's Naga Ken - the Hindi notes I crave, I burned this after some regrettable commercial bakhoor, and it erased all the headache that mistake caused, and it didn't disappoint, wishing I had a forest of this, and thought about sending some to @Olfactory Nomad for some shockingly hard to find, Hindi incense sticks
- Sulaym's Walla Patta - tiny piece from my sorting when I received a very large order, less than 1% were these tiny pieces and even a smaller amount was powder.
- Sokkat AlTeeb's Cambodi Skins - I promised @Saudalhajri and @Bandar I'd try them again, I wanted to try them after I have the benchmark of some Hindi and Walla Patta during the same session, and still found them very enjoyable. I did find a piece which was mostly white, and it burned as you might have expected, but there were some very resinated pieces which from the middle of the session to the very end emitted pleasant fruity oud notes.

I regretted trying some commercial bakhoor, that was my only mistake during the session. I wish I'd taken more pictures, just to show how small a quantity is needed to enjoy these aromatic woods!

Baieido - Byakudan Koubunboku

I buy these sticks fairly cheap from a grocery-whole foods store here in Melbourne, $16 AUD. Although I’m not an incense connoisseur like many of you, to my nose they smell much more refined & balanced than most of the artisanal ‘hippie’ stuff that I often see available in stores.

For an Indian Sandalwood dominant blend, they display quite an austere serious profile, with the Sandalwood front & centre.
Considering the price, the Sandalwood is surprisingly decent quality; buttery, lactonic, slightly floral. The spicy component of clove, cinnamon, lend a certain darkness & medicinal quality.
A nice budget stick for a little Sandalwood hit & cleaning the air.

Was there any harsh scents with this? Skins / sheets almost always smell like firewood burning to me, like a very low grade chip with little resin.
My apologies for the late reply, both times these haven't smelled at all like burning firewood.

Now if only I could say the same for Dreams of Dali Kingdom 😂 Forgot I even lit a stick it was that faint, perhaps more sessions are before I'll understand this one.

There was one very high end Baieido green kyara stick that I smelled at the very beginning of my oud voyage in 1993 - kyara kokoh i think. That has been my benchmark ever since. My experience is so limited compared to some of the folks who post here but shokaku is the one incense that comes to mind that had the same clear green kyara aroma as the Baieido. To my nose the baieido kyara sticks a step below the kyara kokoh paled in comparison - when I experienced it burning it was like 90% binder smell with 10% kyara smell. I think I have to give credit to Baieido for trying to keep it really simple though and just making it binder and kyara and little else if my memory is correct. It's been a while since I've smelled the Baieidos.
