A unique concept purposefully burying the Agarwood to create this product. I wonder how long it has to be buried for until the heathy wood fibres break down? For it to happen naturally, I assume it to be a long process, but I’m not entirely sure. I’m very curious how KZ executed this project.KyaraZen - Laos Vietnam Soil Agarwood 2 Hour coils - I purchased these in early April of 2024, they weren't around for all that long, but man what a deal they were, I picked up 2 boxes, each for I think 59 USD which for 50 grams of this region and type of agarwood isn't too shabby! Apparently these were buried pieces of Laos and Vietnam woods, which were buried on purpose and then taken out, dried and milled into these coils.
They have an iconic chocolate milk sort of aroma to them even unlit. While burning you get the most pungent blast oudyness, the smoke sticking to your clothes with a matched tenacity. In fact that's what shocked me today, I broke off a 10 minute piece perhaps, and at the end, it was as if I had fumigated my room with woods and charcoal! It was actually too strong even for me. They don't really fall into the soil agarwood profile I've come to expect, but utility wise a brilliant product. I don't know whether to put this into the Laos camp or Vietnam in terms of scent, nor do I know the composition percentages, but I was really happy with these being a new innovation in "creating" soil agarwood, to whatever degree it might have been successful, part of me is very happy with tinkerings which might promise sustainability. While I'd need to burn more before I can compare them, they seem similar to one of my favorite sticks of all time, Aroma Sublime's Gold Seal Premium Aged Agarwood.
Ok! I'm sold! That really is a good deal!A unique concept purposefully burying the Agarwood to create this product. I wonder how long it has to be buried for until the heathy wood fibres break down? Brother, I’m not sure if you’ve got your hands on this already or if you’re in the market for soil Agarwood, but I highly recommend The Oud Lab’s - Filli Fu Sen, I feel as though I should mention this to you as it’s an incredible deal & I want everyone to take advantage while it’s available. $90 for 10g of wild sinking grade Filipino soil Agarwood!!! I purchased 30g & I want another 30 it’s that good.
The chips are very small but they’re full of oil & the aroma is unbelievable. This batch of Cumingiana wood smells like the red incensey core of high grade Cambodi; fruits, caramel, vanilla, hints of Kyara with a spicy-floral-purple aroma of vintage West Malaysian wood.
I’m aware that I sound like a shill for TOL, but I don’t care, it’s the best deal going.
Thanks for the tip, after reading a couple of reviews the sticks sound fantastic. Unfortunately, as suspected from previous research none of these websites ship to Australia. Not Japan Incense, Nippon Kodo, Kikoh Incense, it’s a shame because I’d really like to buy some good incense.I buy my sticks from Japan Incense, but I’ve bought from other places also.
I would recommend Shunkohdo Kyara Houzan before it’s all gone. I don’t see it available at Shunkohdo’s online store.
But that’s just my personal preference.
There are many other fine contenders, depending on what profiles and what types you are looking for.
Awesome! You’ll love it mate. It’s proper soil grade stuff, it’s so soft it breaks down easily. The chips are very small, kinda like Kangiiten’s average size chip. Every chip is full of oil, some of them even have a kinamic like facet👍🏼Ok! I'm sold! That really is a good deal!
Yeah..the no shipping to OZ is a total bummer. I've found a couple of other websites worth perusing however for incense. First is in the UK and they will ship to AU and the second is already here. In Melbourne I think? https://au.zenminded.shop/Thanks for the tip, after reading a couple of reviews the sticks sound fantastic. Perhaps going direct to the source is the answer, hopefully we can get past the language barrier.
Zenminded doesn’t appear to be carrying much very high grade incense, but the home & stationary has piqued my attention 😂 I love all those minimalist Japanese products!Yeah..the no shipping to OZ is a total bummer. Sorry, I see what's going on. Zen Minded is the UK store but after a second of browsing it switches you to an .au for some reason which doesn't have as many products. Sounds good 👍🏼 Is Muhammadi flower dried Damask Rose?View attachment 43591
Another attempt at making incense
10g each of dried Muhammadi flowers and Indonesian sandalwood, both powdered and sifted
5g Indian frankincense also powdered and sifted
Mixed the dry ingredients and added : 5 drops mysore sandalwood, and kept adding Ceylon sandalwood oil until it started sticking (around 6ml or a little less).
Burns very nicely and smells very good, however I feel something is missing in the scent profile, perhaps something a little sweet, and maybe cardamom or tamarind, I’ll go get some benzoin stones tomorrow or today.
I believe so yes. It comes from Iran and looks like this. It’s usually used in tea hlends and sometimes incenseSounds good 👍🏼 Is Muhammadi flower dried Damask Rose?
