Dude! I'm stunned I didn't see those on the website! What, were they available for all of a day or something? I'm forever on the KZ website and totally missed those. Wonderful score.
My apologies for getting to this so late, I checked my old receipts, I ordered it on June 7, 2024, I think it was part of a restock, but yeah it seemed like it wasn't selling but basically a couple were left making it seem that way, and then several days later, none.

I really hesitate to say this, but I'd trade Dreams of Dali Kingdom for more of these coils, which for me, still don't quite hit the spot. Felt a similar way when the Prof. Incense Nha Trang and Fusen Red Soil sticks were repackaged, I purchased a fair bit of them for $69/5 grams and then the price jumped to $169/5 grams (they announced this before the fact on fb) only for the same sticks to be repackaged and sold for $99/10 grams ... Perhaps the material used for these coils will come out as more affordable sticks, that's my hope at least. I mean who's genuinely burning one of these 2 hour coils in a single session 😆

After reading your post, I was inspired to light up a stick of the Fusen Red Soil. I swear every time it’s a different experience, they’re very complex! This time I’m getting caramel musk.

Kyara Zen I can't read Japanese but I believe that these are Musk Ambergris sticks but they smell amazing and deep dark slightly sweet.

All good mate, yeah that is a substantial price hike to then drop back down. Kind of bizarre really. Those coils do sound very nice. @Kabir Attars I have those same ones and I agree, they're delicious.

Just burned a small, and last, piece of Kyara Enju by Seijudo I had left. And you know, it kinda reminds me of a softer, more gentle, Myo-ho.

What does anyone else think about that... observation???

Very beautiful sticks, both of them. I am glad KEnju is still available and not too pricey though. Unlike Myo.-kaku. Which I don't think even has Kyara in it, does it? I'm pretty sure it's just very high end aloeswoods. (With a proprietary, natural, oil like most, if not, all, Shoyeido premiums)

Can't wait to have the budget again to explore the rest of Seijudo premium range sticks.

So with my order from @Oudique I was surprised with a sample of their Tigerwood Cambo sticks. I actually purchased some of their insanely priced Khmer Tiger and Huian Ateeq (I mean this one was the deal of the century, a 21 year old wild Cambodi 🤯) oils, and have fallen in love with Khmer Tiger like no other Cambodi to date, but this is Incense of the Day so back to the sticks.

They're thick, almost Tibetan style, and I've found such sticks to be very difficult to put out, I'm often not a whole stick burner, but that was not an issue at all here! The scent as well was absolutely serene, dense and earthy, a full sort of smoke, but the material used is so resinous that it's not remotely harsh! I used about a centimeter piece to fumigate my clothes, and it was everything I've wanted in an incense stick! Brothers Kani and Faheem have out done themselves with the oils on offer at Oudique, and their commitment to their incense is no less!

In other sticks, Dr. Incense - Processing Sinking Jayapura, a reminder that you can have too much of a good thing ... it's the most infuriating stick ever, stays lit for at most a couple of minutes. I'm done expending butane on it, it'll get heated gently. The aroma on this is quite herbal, and surprisingly doesn't fit the Doc's processed stick profile.

Baieido Kyara Ko Koh
Beautiful sweet incense with wafts of depth and resinous agarwood notes. The sweetest one of the high end kyara incense I tried (Shokaku, Kyara Enju, En No Sho, Gokujo Kyara-koh).
Last time I smelled this was 2001 more or less. I it made quite an impression - a shop owner in the Portland area carried Beieido products and there was a promotion of some kind for the high-end kyara so they had samples to burn and little sets of woods with crumbs of the icky sticky Baieido green kyara. Good times... I'm grateful to that shop for setting the bar high and helping me tune into the good stuff early on. They stopped carrying the incense when the management changed sadly.

Shoyeido Shokaku
I lit about 2 inches in the car while driving, the air smells beautiful, then when I got back to the car after like 20 minutes, I was welcomed with a bitter sweet spicy heavenly arome. From my limited incense sticks expierence this is my top pick.
I might do this again with different incense sticks especially if it's a long ride.

KyaraZen - Dreams of Merauke - Arrived this afternoon and I immediately wanted to burn a stick and gauge where this stood in terms of quality, having burned some Merauke chips the night before. The sticks are plenty in the packaging, easily more than in any other variants, which makes sense, as individually they're a lot thinner. They light easily, and burn quicker than I anticipated but this is to be expected. There's a lot of smoke, but it's thin and easily visible wherever a stick is lit.

My first reaction to the scent was, this is the scent of Merauke chips on charcoal, plain and simple. Not exceptionally high grade grade chips but fairly decent quality, and for me, that's more than I expected. Perhaps this is unique to Merauke woods enjoying the higher than normal temps, I think they work remarkably well as sticks. There's some craft which went into these, the extrusion size is not by mistake and would've needed more makko to maintain shape, but had they been thicker I think the profile wouldn't be as enjoyable. The smoke isn't as easy on the eyes as found in Dreams of An-Nam, Dreams of Hai-Nan and Dreams of Nanban, far from it, but it captures the essence of the wood.

Couldn't be more pleased with these sticks, huge shout out to @Olfactory Nomad for his Kangiiten drop posts which drew my attention to this drop, otherwise I would have completely missed it! The slight caramel like notes sans sweetness mixed with a strange herbal touch are found here, no apparent mint-iness in this stick but there's a depth in Merauke you can almost feel it in your mouth, a sort of delicious, appetizing aroma, and it's very serious (nothing playful in sight)! Perhaps a cereal like notes is also present. As mentioned on the website, this is less bitter than soil Ambon, and I agree, in fact I'd say this is a much easier love at first sniff than I've ever found soil Ambon to be! Easily better than Dreams of Dali Kingdom, especially for the price, I would pick this over that, and even Dreams of Laos, because while that was marginally better, it wasn't memorable. And I'm already on my second stick of this 😂

Reviews don't get better than that. Excited for mine to arrive.😀

Those Jayapura sticks are infuriating, but they smell so good. I found that if you hold the stick upside down it'll stay lit. I was debating buying or making something that will hold them upside down or crushing the sticks into powder for the subitism.
