Got a sample of these with my order from them way back in the day!

I love Redolence they burn so well I get lost in it and have to burn another stick to concentrate on the scent profile lol 😆
Is Redolence a traditional blend, along the lines what what is called Plum Blossom or Smiling Orchid, not in scent profile but naming convention?

Oh you were referring to the conversation earlier, never mind 😂

I love Shoyeido's Misho and probably the best value of their premium line when buying from Japan. Around $20 for 35 sticks. I don't buy Shoyeido from outside of Japan because the prices are so over the top and there are only a handful of things I get from them and all in the premium line. I get Misho, Nankun and Gaho and skip the rest of Shoyeido incenses but for the money Misho may be the best value from the premium line. I like that signature celery-ish note in higher end Shoyeido incense.

Wow, is it really that cheap over there? Misho goes for around $80 here. Crazy!

burned some Kin Objects- Four Masters today and it's so solid of a blend. It may be my favorite from them that they make.
I really enjoy the various sticks from this company. Their Nha Trang is especially impactful for me - I love the milk chocolate note! A Touch of Jupi was another stand-out for me.

And a general question about this thread for anyone - can I post about any incense? I guess I was under the impression it should only be agarwood or oud based incense in theme with the forum.

Any incense is good bro. If you love it then it's good incense worth talking about.

Byakudan kobunboku with a drop of 32 y.o. organic dark patch soaked into it near the end. Very exotic patchouli aroma - patch is a good one to dab on a stick. Anyone else do this?

What's crazy is how good some of those awful dull smelling CO2 oils smell when you smear them on an incense stick - there is something interesting going on there. I just followed up with a dab of that nine regions super cheap ck oil and it is giving off one heck of a good aroma. It's like Baltic amber there's all of this aroma in there but you have to actually burn it or combust it or "crack" it to release it

That’s really interesting I’ll have to try it!

Burning some Baieido Kun Sho Premium that I have had for many years and I like it better now than when fresh. It is less camphory and the sharp spices have come down and it becomes more wood forward. I have noticed it takes at least 3 years for Baieido Premiums to come down from the heavy hit of camphor and even more years to calm the spices in it. This Kun Sho is much more soft and ethereal now. It's become very nice and nothing like when it was new

Nice! Sounds like a wonderful blend especially with the ambergris.

FYI I believe that is Siam benzoin, assuming the specimens that I have seen are typical. However I have not heard of golden Sumatra so this may be a different variety that has not come my way!

Sumatra will generally be a kind of dull grayish color and often comes
in smaller pieces. The smell is different, the Siam is quite pungently sweet and piercing especially when a little bit is burned; the Sumatra is more mild and mineral smelling without the intense super sweet vanilla note.

The benzoin burnt alone has that piercing electrical scent you describe along with sweetness. I think there are grades and types of benzoin just like ambergris and frankincense. I bought this as Sumatran.
My source doesn’t actually sell benzoin but he went out of his way to look around in Indonesia for high quality stuff, I’m not an expert on benzoin so I can’t say 100% the region, only what he told me (Sumatran).

I did a little digging and I see that Mermade magic arts has a golden Sumatra benzoin that looks like yours. I don't know the owner but I know they have a good reputation.

Siam and Sumatra benzoin are actually different species, named after the regions they are associated with but I'll bet you some Siam benzoin grows in Sumatra and vice versa.

The Sumatra resin that I have reminds me a little bit of kunroku / pistacia resin in its aroma. Sweet but not so piercing or vanilla like
