Why did I do this to myself!???
I'm thrilled to hear your feel a similar way about Burmi '79. I thought HM Royal Hindi was the pinnacle of the sort of oud I enjoyed, over several weeks that's all I was wearing, continuously sniffing it from a sample vial and on my wrist. That was until I sniffed Burmi '79. I vividly remember just feeling a sense of calm and other worldliness overtaking me, and I promptly closed the vial. I was afraid of never being able to enjoy my other ouds again 😅

Their No. 2, a Leyte oil is in a similar ballpark, in terms of "wow factor" for me. I put nothing more than a drop and spread it to both wrists and hours later I was getting the unmistakable scent of gently heating Siliani chips. For me this Filipino lies in the realm of crystalline Borneo like Silianis which are my preferred Silianis. Heavy on the powerful, almost industrial chemical like aroma on top, loud, punchy settling down to the scent of a blue-green ocean.

SULAYM No.1 Burma.

Such a lovely, sweet, purple fruity, grapes, grapefruit sweet/sourness, very resinous and beautiful oudiness with beautiful elegant agarwood notes reminding you it's made from this beautiful, amazing wood 🥰. Beautiful.

Mixed with a ton of dried sandalwood on my hand which has made the oud more... profound, stronger... lovely stuff.

What I find interesting about Burmi 79 is that I’m getting some nice dark cacao and cream notes! It’s definitely a lovely oil but if I’m being perfectly honest HM Royal Cambodi is doing for me what Burmi is doing for you. I feel like Royal Cambodi is speaking to my soul right now. I’m wearing them both and they compliment each other so well. It’s nice to see how Royal Cambodi takes on more of a bitter incense heart and Burmi 79 is straight up chocolate, hay and incense.

It’ll be interesting to wear these each on their own and get to know them individually.

I’ll have to sample N°2 now!

Who was the vendor of Al Janah?

The burmi 79 has a really interesting tang to it.
Habzoud! At one point he said Al Janah was the best Hindi he had ever smelled. The OG is arguably the best out of the Al Janah series but AJ2 is my favorite. It doesn’t quite hit some of the complexity of Agar Aura’s clean Hindi distillations but for the price it’s certainly the best Hindi oil under $200/g ever released in modern times. It was something like $180/g on release. Simply stunning. I don’t think you can get oils anymore that smell that good for under $3-400/g now.

AlJanah series were certainly special oils, i'm sure those who have vials can appreciate them more now as they have aged.

The best Hindi Oud i have smelt to date is @Al Shareef Oudh Qandahar 2 followed by Ajmal vintage and then Oud Isa by Ensar aswell as Sasora Jinkoh by Taha.

Ive smelt many Hindi oils over the years, theres just something so unique in Hindi Oud that seperates it from all other reigons.

A wise man once said "all Oud journeys end with Hindi Oud".

At the end you realise nothing beats a fine Hindi oil.

I still stand by my statement that for the price and how it compares to other Hindi oils in the same price range you simply can’t find that quality for under $200/g anymore. Al Janah 2 I pulled out the other day and was mesmerized by how well it’s aged.

I know that there’s other more superior oils that have been distilled especially at much higher price points but if anyone can point me towards an oil for under $200/g that’s better than Al Janah 1 or 2 I’d love to try it out.

Hello Ouddicts 🙂
Hope you are all well ^^

Today I received something special !
Quickly by the way, the package reached my Mountain (4 Days) 💨
It’s long time I wanted to try Al Hind Oud Products

I was very curious about Sandalwood & Cultivated Kinam Codistillation …

I missed the first Version so I had to go in the second … Al hamdulillah

Bilquis 2 🍯🍦🌾🍼🧈🥥🍪🪵🧋🍵🦌
It’s almost hard to explain the taste of Milk 🥛 with Honey 🍯
This is what I felt !!!
It’s too easy to just saying « Take the best part of Sandalwood and CKinam and that is Bilquis »

At Very first inhalation I was thinking «Ok Ck dominating with his Ultra top notes ! » Vanilla, Honey, Cinnamon, Hay… and green Tea bitterness !
But immediately the creamy buttery Musky Sandalwoodish Aura appears and I was confused !!!

It’s like between me the Terps Molecules, there were other molecules and others and others Melted in a wooden Bouquet …
I am amazed by this Result !!
I get also Coconut 🥥
So much time I layered Oud oil swipe with sandalwood swipe and never I felt this before …
I can see clearly how Mohammed taking care of his distillation…
Mashallah bro, Firstly, it’s an amazing idea, and secondly you did it like a master !
I don’t know how was the first batch…But Bilquis 2 is a real Kiss from the two best Aroma´s trees in the Earth 🪵
This is a real SandalOud.
Bilquis remind you why Santal & Oud make us Crazy …
By the way I am now soooo curious to see how would be de result of both Wood distilled Separately ^^
The last Ck I tried to date was IO Hainan Qinan … 🫠
And the last Sandalwood oil I tried to date was CO Santal Sundar 😶‍🌫️

I wish you All a very Gooud swipe ^^

Ahhh makes me want to smell them bad

Imperial Oud - Fragrant Harbor Imperiale
WoW! Pure yellow bliss, delicious honey, yellow bright florals (Jasmine?), addictive milkiness and somehow a faint sweet fruity touch that smells like sweet ananas. Dries down & acquire subtle green nuances & a nice nutty facet is detectable!

Yusa - Fragrant Harbor
Similar beautiful opening & you get similarities for a while with the honey, more wild florals and addictive milkiness. Overall its a tad darker in style, not as ethereal & airy, more dense. Develops to a more green tea & green kinamic oil like you are heating some green Cultivated Kinam on a heater.

Jinkoh Store - Royal Merauke
What a monster! This one screams leather, smoke and burning merauke oud chips. Atypical of the usual Jinkoh Store style! It may sound harsh and aggressive but it isn't somehow. It has nice depth and the leathery and smokey facets interwine and the resinous backbone provide a nice sweetness smoothening out the whole profile. I also noticed playful, fruity wafts in the opening that I couldn't pinpoint

Thankful for these experiences!

Gaharu uno - Habzoud
Sweet, gold, hay, slight earthiness. Perfect oud to wear during the colder temps here
@Olfactory Nomad you mentioned a little while ago that Habz oils have a signature like if crystals have a smell, well I've noticed that now and I agree, although I would say I'm reminded of water if it had a scent
Water is a good word for it. I find this note in all his oils. I'd be surprised now if I didn't smell it. Love it.

Sulaym’s HM Royal Cambodi:

Deep, dark, ultra smooth notes of red berries and marzipan quickly followed by Smokey bitter incense. Absolutely stunning Cambodian oil. Rich musky notes of fermented berries, hay, gentle barn, and leather. When I say barn I mean this very much smells like a barn verse smelling fecal. Old wood, hay, animals, musk etc. All of this is underpinned by red incense. The bitter vein running through Royal Cambodi is subtle.

One aspect I enjoy about this oil is how it seemingly opens up like a classic Pursat aroma but as it dries down it steers into Koh Kong meets Burma/Myanma territory. I’ve noticed a lot of Burmese border oils share similarities with Nagaland Agollacha and I can’t help but feel like there’s an Indian border meets Koh Kong aroma happening here. Think dark rich berries and leather of EO’s Nagaland 3000 mixing with Assamugo Senkoh but it’s wrapped up in a Cambodi frame.

However like I had hoped, Royal Cambodi shares alot of similarities with Jinkoh’s Grand Emperor Koh Kong. However GEKK goes in a much more “green” bitter incense direction and never quite develops the musky, hay driven hindi’esque basenotes of Royal Cambodi.

An interesting feature of this oil is the similarities it shares with Burmi 79’. To say there’s a shared DNA is almost an understatement. If I was smelling this blind I would assume it’s a codistillation. I can see why in the write up the author says they almost weren’t sure which oil they were smelling between this and Burmi 79’ although if I had to pick a favorite it would surely be Royal Cambodi. I’ll admit I don’t have the most experience with classic 1980’s Cambodians so maybe the Hindi like drydown is well observed and I’m simply noticing it for the first time. Most of my experience with this region has been more modern, clean, and pristine.

Tomorrow I’ll do a full write up of Burmi 79’. I want to sleep on the drydown and see what aromas are present when I wake up. So far Burmi 79 has been a musky chocolate affair with rich incense, fermented hay bails, horse and stable (without any fecal or off notes) and the slightest hint of red berries in the top. I’m not picking up on anything purple, floral, or even clean. This is very much a classic oil and reminds me a lot of what The Oud Lab offers.

For now HM Royal Cambodi is a 9.5/10 for me. This is a perfect oil. It strikes a perfect balance between all these different flavors and colors. There’s wonderful transitions and the only reason it’s not a perfect 10 is because the projection seems to be lacking.

Nice review! Both wonderful oils, I find the Burmi '79 to have some pretty outstanding notes and there are some subtle appealing facets and depth to that aged woody tanginess that I haven't encountered in many other oils.

On the opposite end of the age spectrum I wore a little bit of @mesOUD Viet King yesterday. As always I get stuck on the amazing scent of the dried residue on the threads, but I actually applied a swipe yesterday and tried to approach it with caution, as opposed to just burying my nose into it right away. Beautiful sweet kinam and fine crassna wood notes wafting up from the back of my wrist for hours.

Today's swipe of Khao Chin 2016 comes to you from @Al Hashimi

The oil has become molasses in the cooler weather. It doesn't look like this is still available on the website, perhaps in reserve? Not sweet or fruity, it's very silky and elegant oud. As with the other Al Hashimi oud oils I’ve sampled, it opens slowly — those first few minutes are just a glimpse as it develops, like a flower blooming, unfolding and evolving as it wears.

Burmi 79’ my goodness this drydown might be one of the better oudilicious drydowns I’ve smelled. It’s bitter, green, creamy, has a cooked milk aroma with a beautiful tea like finish. My goodness this is incredible.

I swiped my forearm and wore a fleece lined hoodie to bed so I could smell the drydown with a fresh nose. The contrast between how Burmi 79’ opens and how it finishes is so stark in makes you realize just how different old stock, old growth, classically distilled oils are from todays modern oils. Just brilliant stuff.

Wrapping my nose around a yet to be released Malaysian oil from @Habz786. To my eye the oil has TWO colours happening. It's colour reminds me of balsamic vinegar that's been poured into olive oil. Dark in the middle and golden around the edges. Species wise this came from a Rostrata ( same as the stunning Raja Hijau oud ) also by Habzoud. But where that oil smells like the golden sun this is the sister moon. Much darker and mysterious. Now, I also understand "purple" notes, or at the very least beginning to. "Cola" also. Definitely one to keep an eye (and nose), out for.
