I can't see the photo either... any chance of a repost?

Regarding the issues on the forum, we will be migrating the whole forum to another software platform due to these kinds of issues and also because the current arrangement does not give us the flexibility we need for our expansion plans... We will be launching an Oud wiki next week, along with a dedicated Oud review section... but we are saving the best till November/December when we really have a killer feature coming along 😉

all sounds really good, who needs BN after-all. This will become perfect place for oud lovers.

thanks for your hard work to put this site together.

Regarding BN, the Oud thread was undoubtedly good, but it was just a collection of threads and nothing more. Moreover, the restrictions surrounding vendor promotion stifled interaction between members posting and the heavy-handed approach of the BN admin, abruptly closing down the Oud group more than once in the past 5 years, made me decide to launch this as a permanent, open and dedicated forum for Oud lovers....

We did approach Grant from BN recently and asked him his intentions regarding the Oud group and if he did not intend to resurrect it, if we could at least use the old posts and post them here for reference, but we did not receive a reply.

A forum is a place built by its members and while management make the forum possible, its a mutual relationship between those running a forum and their members, which makes a forum a thriving community. I did not see much evidence of that when BN decided all of a sudden to pull the plug on more than one occasion on the Oud threads that many of its members had invested their time and effort in.

There is no guarantee they won't do it again, hence this forum and the wiki and future plans.

You need to cure that indian oil before it starts developing unwanted smells. It looks very cloudy so probably still has moisture in it, not a good thing to have sitting in an oil.

@Ouddict

I feel the frustration every time I have to rewrite things that I had covered previously in the Distillation thread on BN and also there was a detailed discussion regarding wood types on BN which would be priceless to bring here.

I think reverting back to BN would be a an error in judgement, having said that many still would go back because there remains a lot of information there and also there are a few who didnt join this forum due to whatever reason.

As salaamu alaykum Al Shareef, how would you go about curing an oil of this manner?

PEARL

wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah

The simplest way for the consumer is opening the top, taking out the application stick, screwing in tissue some tissue in the inlet then using a table lamp, from about 30cm, ensuring that the temperature of the oil does not rise above 45 C. It will take a few days but it will clear up.

If the oil totally clears up, then do not need to do anything further, if the moisture sinks to the bottom of the bottle forming a droplet of water, then you have a couple of options, draw the clear oil into a new bottle, or continue applying the lamp until the droplets at the bottom disappear.
