After that you're totaly right, maybe next time being clearer on what buyer is going to chose...

I understand this and encourage every seller to be technical on scent profile ...

Once, 😀😀😀 I saw one seller ddescribing a cambodian oil on his page : it was fruity apricot jam classical.

When he saw Koh kong with the famous cherry tobacco, he changed the description of his oil into cherry tobacco 😛😛😛.
It's tricky yes but I'm even not sure this seller was able to discribe his oil accurately.

I had occasion to smell it and it was actualy apricot jam a pretty one at a very very fair price did'nt need that trick to sell it ...
 
@Ammar lol you funny guy did you dial 911? In Adams defense i think its fair to say maybe it was a distillation gone wrong or maybe he was aiming for something unique which turned out very unique. Its hard to say but maybe if there is another Sri Lankan release it will be different. Adam has cooked many oils and i do respect his hands on approach. Was there any mention of smoke in the oils description?

What do you mean by smokiness? Oud Royale No. 1 is smokey and I love that aspect of it. Or do you mean smokey as in burnt wood smokey?

Hmmm.. doesn't sound too good, but without sampling the oil, I don't know for sure. Anyone want to sell me a tiny sample (0.1/0.2g) of this oil? Is the smokiness similar to that of EO Oud Royale 5? I smelled a sample of that and very surprised that I wasn't impressed at all - the first EO oil that I have ever smelled that I thought... what is going on here.

Ammar, I too was really disappointed about Si Lani, but I mostly have channeled it into being more cautious. Maybe I was acquiring new oils recklessly?

There was a description of the oil on Gaharu; it said the oil was the "best" distillation based on several parameters, including successful distillation of "Old School clean smoky type combined with a new generation gently heated Wala Pata aroma" -- but "clean" smoky suggests moderation whereas Si Lani is a smokebomb. Not that I think there was any intention to mislead, I have confidence in Adam's honesty. Anyway, the lesson for me is to proceed with caution on some unreleased oils.

Hey oudict, no, Si Lani's smokiness isn't like OR#5, it isn't like a suggestion of smokiness or like a gentle waft from gently heated wood. It's like the oil is actually infused with smoke, like the oil itself is smoked. I don't know if that's actually how the oil was made -- if it was infused with smoke -- but that's what the scent is like.

Here is the diplomatic review by Ensar of this oil:

“Adam's Si Lani was up next. Smoky smokehouse oudfest effect. Like you're inhaling the burning wood right from the charcoal, and it's not the 'gently heated' kind! Unabashed, brazen and Spartan, this is a category of oud which might not be for everyone, albeit many 'fumigators' would want to have it in their collections. If you liked Aroha Kyaku or Old School Vietnam, you're going to like this a lot. The longevity is stronger than with the ASCs, however at the expense of refinement and 'delectability'. "Some like 'em smoky!" should be the motto for this one!”

Incidentally, Adam just posted @gaharu about his most recent unexpected very low yield from quality wood:

“ALL the oil that came out is around 1 ml…
Very shocking and unexpected yield… ( usually with this type of wood we use to get like 6 ml up in 48 hours )…
So now I am puzzled and probably going to add some SMOKE… just as it happened with WAHID…”

PLEASE NOOOO!...LOL! OK that was fun…

Aside from this, thanks God it was donated wood from close friend and no major loss should be encountered I guess.

Hope the smoke doesn’t fade away from the sample as it arrives, then @Ouddict would start complaining where is the smoke you all were talking about LOL!
 
I remember when Si Lani come out I sent a PM to Adam on FB and I remember his answer...not for you akhy...too much smooky!

I just ask Adam 😉

I still have to send you some samples promised bck in October last year.... I hope you aren't as slow as me 🙄

Been so busy and dealing with 101 things. I've got a few things to send to people... probably this weekend!!! 😵
