No sense in arguing, gentlemen.

We aren’t able to ask the folks from 100+ years ago how they completed their extraction. We can only deduce possible chemical means of change. Oxidation and carbohydrate degradation are the simplest probabilities in the end. Maybe even destructive distillation, which could have brought some carbon over into the final product?

We cannot say, and I am at peace with that. What matters to me is that it smells good, and was at least generally recognized as safe when it was released to market.
I agree! i just find the fact that such a serious artisan as @Al Shareef Oudh brings up contamination to 3 gelcaps i posted that would be impossible to test for but countless products being sold everywhere are not accused of any contamination whats so ever!!! and i am 100% sure that many products possible even from many trusted sellers may be contaminated with glue because it would not be possible for any distiller to sit back and look at 5-10 kilos of wood and have a clue if the wood was tainted with glue or other things or even harmful cancer agents that are used in perfumery. serious artisan goes after the sandalwood oil color but nothing of all i mentioned lol its hilarious

nicely said Arashiin HOWEVER:

There were two conversations going on there: one was about somebody enjoying a product, and other was about the reality of distilled Sandalwood.

I agree let’s keep the threads about our feelings positive. It is great That language scent is enjoying the oil and no one should undermine that. opinion matters in the context of somebody saying “ I like this better than the other sandalwood oils I have had a chance to smell”. The fact that it is brown and the reason why has no relevance to this 100% agree.

But the other conversation is about the reality of sandalwood oil, and what it is actually like and it was filled with inaccurate information. in that case people’s feelings/opinions are irrelevant, the facts are the facts. sandalwood, and other precious oils are often subject to adulteration, substitution, exaggeration, etc.. and one of the values of this place is that information is shared publicly so people can make educated choices.

All of that other stuff aside, and I agree let’s focus on the love: if you want to buy actual steam or hydro distilled Sandalwood oil, do not buy the brown stuff. With the exception of something that has been stored in something like a capsule that might lead to discoloration as is obviously the case here.

If on the other hand you are looking for a sublime whole sandalwood scent, I feel like you have to include some of the CO2 or absolute oils - so i’m not saying essential oil is better or worse in smell just that it isn’t brown.

I suggest creating a separate thread, perhaps just about authentication of sandalwood oil, so as not to frustrate languagescent or others who just want to talk about their personal reactions.

alcohol extracted shoyeido sandalwood oil is deep red
alcohol extracted yamadamatsu sandalwood oil is deep redish brown
sandalwood absolute i have no clue its color
distilled sandalwood depending on root or heart can range from pale yellow, rich yellow or orange

i also believe that 100-125 years of sandalwood capsules with gelatin may or may not be able to contaminate a sandalwood oil. it is all about what was actually in the capsules. the ones you opened up you didnt like them may have been some carrier oil with the sandalwood and maybe that is because it was a distilled sandalwood which wouldnt be good for consumption ad a medicine. but maybe the darker ones are absolutes or just pure oil that didnt have the downside of being changed or going acrid because of gelatin or bad gelatin.

the gelatin can be way better than leather IF it is pure and prepared in a professional way so that the end capsule product is dry and not moist

there are too many factors that we are all ignoring. it is undeniable truth that many kind of sandalwood trees exist, and we do not know exactly what colors they would give. is pure sandalwood pale yellow to rich yellow? YES OF COURSE IT IS. that shouldnt be the base of all of them tho cause as i said many others legit ones on the market are orange.

Also about oils giving you heart palpitations, language, can you explain how you felt? I don't think you had a lot of the oil in the first place, or maybe Kareem was nice enough to give you a lot of it as a sample, but I am asking out of curiosity, what did your heart literally feel like? Real heart palpitations for days can have a wide array of causes, even 10 swipes of oil with harmful solvents (as these harmful solvents would be seriously diluted also by VOC solvents and other oil stuffs) in them are very unlikely to give you heart palpitations (unless ofc, you inject the oil into the subdermal) because the first layer of skin is quite thick. Of course the oil (and thus whatever solvent is in the oil) will reach your blood stream through the skin but you would feel the effects most likely after its dried on your skin, if you feel any effects at all from swipes that are normally used as VOCs and even other solvents (which are what would have caused heart palpitations if present in the oil 10,000%, inhaling turpentine will also do the same thing and make you dizzy and possibly kill you, but getting a swipe of turpentine on your hand wont do this, a lot of turpentine on your hand then after its dried, or even inhaled, then sure, it could, 100%), would have mostly evaporated before entering the sub-dermis and thus into the blood stream. Tiny amounts of these VOCs (which are also solvents) from "clean" oils get into your blood stream, that is not what causes the "feelings" or "effects" (aka psychoactive effects) from ANY oil, it is inhaling them from the skin into your lungs as VOCs are also solvents, so whatever contamination was in Koh Kong 2019 would have had to be a serious strong solvent like turpentine to cause things like this and you would feel it AS SOON as you inhaled the oil, you would have felt like you buzzed gas, literally... I have inhaled turpentine from a big bottle before, as a pre teen out of curiosity as I liked the smell when my father was painting the room next to mine. If it didn't give you a serious real giggly buzz and also heart palpitations and extreme psychoactive dizziness as soon as you smelled it, then I am seriously wondering what other thing would have caused this. Heart palpitations that are going on for days (also did they stop?) that do not stop or go and come back regularly for that length of time is something you should not just go, "oh it was that oil", you should really get an ECG done on your heart, as a friend to another friend 🙂. Just to be safe, homie g. 😂

Also @language scent I have a support worker from Greece, he is half Scottish half Greek. He is mostly Greek though since his accent is Greek but he can speak both languages very well. He had to go back to Greece to do is military stuff you guys do, how did you handle that, out of interest? I would have hated to do that shit for 2 years of my life lol. He is also very sensitive to things like caffeine, but not nicotine. Maybe you guys can be very sensitive in nature to particular substances? Very pure people, Greeks are.

EDIT: Also, he sounds like borat LOL.

Some Malaysian and Indonesian oils will cause heart racing and panicking feelings for some users. The same users may enjoy Indian oils without such issues. Agarwood is a complex psychoactive substance with differences between the species.
Malaysian oils (like HM Malay by SULAYM) definitely causes a mental excitation and physical excitation without being like a "speedy" physical or jittery effect. I like it.

its been 6days now and the first 3days were non stop arythmias bro. felt like my heart was stopping and starting again. it accumulated in my blood and was toxic to my nervous system. i will go to the police with the oil and tell them what happened and if they can take it to a special lab to check for something that can do what it did.

Lol. he cant go back to Greek unless he wants to finish his army, he cut it short so has to do a full 2years again, even though he has done most of it and left early, so he has to go back and do it from the start. Damn 1999? I was born on May 19th, 1999 at, 4:13pm.

Bro, very, very small amounts would have entered your system through the subdermal, even the aroma VOCs enter in very small amounts. If it was caused by the oil having a harmful solvent in it then it would have happened as soon as you smelled the oil on your skin and you would have got high and dizzy like buzzing gas and yes, heart irregularities, but only for around 12-24 hours, solvents dont last long in the body, like 1 unit of alcohol, UK unit, lasts for 1 hour (refer to the big post I posted before @Maunamoku 🙂)

i was smelling my hand non stop and it was piercing my nostrils. there exist some very harmful chemicals you are not aware of.

Oh of course there is harmful chemicals I am not aware of lol, even the thing I studied and still study because it is an extreme fun hobby and interest (pharmacology), you can't know everything, even the highest end doctors dont know everything about the human body. But the effects you are describing are of harmful solvents.
