Got samples of his samba wood and it is really nice, would love to See what an artisanal oil would be like, reckon it would make a great oil!

Very floral, creamy, woody base notes, and dry down will most likely be a dry sandalwood note with florals, alot of people overlook the florality with santlaum. Album oils, IMO anyway. Maybe they just haven't studied alot of sandal? Citrus and frankincnese notes are also nice notes in mainly, Mysore and the florals from mysore are super strong, but soft.

Sri Lankan sandalwood oil is less dry than most other S.A's, especially mysore, and more sweet, with really nice florals. I need to check out what Tea Guru wild Sri Lankan is like soon...

NTT Sandalwood Batch 2 from @mesOUD . Well, all the positive comments about this are true. A truely wonderful oil worthy of sitting next to my older aged oils. I think if I blind tested this I would guess it older. Stunning opening with a zestiness that's new to me with the classic S.Album butter riding those waves of bliss underneath. I will be adding a half gram of musk grains to this one in the future. Cannot wait!

I have been checking out Al Hind mysuru 2. It's funny because on a certain level it is a golden age for retail Sandalwood, and the al hind sandalwoods are a case in point. It took a long time for artisanal sandalwood to show up after artisanal oud became available in the US. I remember being at the transition point and asking on one of the forums why there was no similar diversity of sandalwoods with production notes and back stories like oud.

Anyway now here we are with a dozen different small batch sandalwoods posted here in the last year by the distillers themselves... amazing!

This one is distinctive, and i would not have a problem picking it out of a lineup up the last dozen sandalwoods i have smelled.

First, the opening is complex, smells different at different times and conditions. I don't see any one accessory note dominating. So the floral is gentle, there's no rubberiness or smokiness, no maple or butter standing out to my nose.

There are some delicate floral aspects that are identifying - of a different category than what I think of when I usually think of floral sandalwood. I would say the floral aspect seems especially multi layered but also especially gentle so a little hard to sort out for me.

This hits as a heavy warm somewhat musky sandalwood, low register, smooth, no edges. A deeper stronger whiff pulls up a very intriguing deep woody resinous accord that i have not smelled in many oils. It's not a dominant note but it's some thing that can be accessed by smelling with intent and it's not fleeting it doesn't retreat when you try to smell it so to speak.

This is a unique smooth well balanced oil with some rock solid depths for the connoisseurs.

I completely abuse my sandalwood receptors so I think my perceptions are not as keen as those of you who only smell sandalwood on occasion. this smells different now than it did when I first got it due to my becoming accustomed to something that's in it.

I will add that I just sampled a premium Mysore (wild/plantation mix) from Payan Bertrand and though it is good enough, it can't hold a candle to this oil or the likes i recently smelled from An Najwa, Olefaktory, Mesoud. To me it seems if you are distilling with large volume and batch consistency in mind, this leads to a different outcome.

First impressions - Secret Sandal by RisingPhoenix as a sample with the Vietnamese Oud I got from JK.

I put the tiniest amount on, a couple of dots, and just gently dabbed my hand with my pinky all over until it was settled... oh my, it is so richly creamy, some earthiness to start (but goes away in 5-10 mins), sweet background woodiness, and a build up to this amazing rich, butter and cream notes, that combined into notes of creamy pastry made with a whole lot of nice [expensive] butter... the florals in this too? Yeah, they're serious, they are right up there, very nice florals, a bouquet of flowers al around in a nice gentle, rounded way. This might be my favourite sandalwood to date. I am nearly 4 hours in, and on the dry down, and the base note to dry down is spectacular. The sweet woodiness starts showing more, creaminess and butteriness are still there but slowly go into the background for this lovely, mystifying, powdery, musky, florals... absolutely euphoric all the way through. Amazing job, JK over at @RisingPhoenix. I am buying 3 grams of this soon!!!

It’s an amazing oil! My bottle is almost empty. I got it in early October right before losing my sense of smell for a couple of weeks to Covid and I was so bummed that I couldn’t smell my favorite notes once I got my smell back, but he just sent me a sample along with his Hawaiian sandalwood (which is no slouch either). Happy to say I got my full appreciation of it back. I wore a big swipe the other day and it was just as excellent as I remembered.
For me the creaminess in the Secrets is like a heavily oaked Chardonnay with well steeped slivers of vetiver and Atlas cedar that then explodes into an almost too much nectar sweetness. Like sticking your nose into a day lily. And then a resin/rosin note. Like hot electrical solder, or frankincense tears on an electric heater right at the point before they start to smell burnt. Those three notes just cycle around for me in a spiral. Never quite coming together. Two of them might cross but never really merge. The dry down is a high woody note with a background of resin. As a matter of fact I’d call that whole oil high keyed and buzzy. Hyper diffusive! Almost offensively. I can’t apply it too close to my face and usually dab on the back of my neck rather than behind my ears. I love that the projection cloud seems to be saying one thing while the skin scent says another . If his Dwipa Gold is a bedtime bliss cloud of santalols. This for me is a fizzy, daytime motivator. The sativa to Dwipa Gold’s couch lock indica. ( I might quote myself from here on his website because I never gave it a review). It blows me a way how full of life all his sandalwoods that I’ve tried are. Really up front with various notes but still so purely S. Album. Even the Hawaiian has some classic S.A. Notes.

Yes, amazing!!! This is my first time trying his sandalwood and instead of getting a full 3g bottle of his Vietnam organic oil (I have around 1g anyway that I got on Sunday) on July. I am definitely buying 3g of this oil instead, I didn't know sandalwoods could be so fun!!!

I’m hoping I can afford one of the two pricier ones before they sell out. I wish he sold a full sampler set of the sandalwoods.

The imperial (I think its called) range? I have tried basically something similar that Tea Guru had, sadly he no longer has it in stock. Was Vintage Sumba Sandalwood (Hydro distilled like JKs) Red and Black meat mixed oil. I got 1g for around £40-45 (IIRC it was around the £42-43 mark).

Yes, Imperial. Dwipa Imperial is the one I want most. I’ve had my eye on that Tea Guru oil and am so sad to see it’s gone. I have to tell myself I’d probably enjoy what I have a little less if I could afford everything I wanted. 😩

Today I decided to wear a small drop of this Ancient Mysore Sandalwood oil from @An Najwa
This is a 64 year old oil and has a distinctive colour to view. I purchased 10mls as it is very rare an oil like this pops up.
It is to my nose quite different from all the other sandalwood oils in my collection. All the usual notes are there...cream, buttery, vanillas but in a much more rounded way then recent distillations. There is a delicious note in there that has me almost wanting to take a bite out of my hand, where I have applied it. Nutmeg comes to my mind or walnuts.
I am sure it it the added age that makes this oil so alluring to me. I am very tempted to macerate some Kashmiri musk in a decanted 3ml bottle. But the rest will remain for now in its bottle for my days of luxury.
A wonderful oil and one I am blessed to have gotten my hands on.

I also got myself .5ml of this oil as you're correct it's very rare. Simply stunning oil. I think you would do very well macerating some musk into this. It would make it even more special if that's possible.

Just as an aside to my post from yesterday.
It is now 11:20 here in Dublin and I am still getting hints of this application made yesterday 13:30.
I can assure you I have washed but where I applied high up on my arm I still get this cream/nutmeg notes as well as below my nose. Nearly twenty two hours. I wouldn't say anybody else is getting it. Just me....😇

2016 Golden Bough from Aroma Sublime
Indian sandalwood I received a couple of months ago.
smooth and sweet S. album profile. it has a very nice uplifting quality which I find in Australian sandalwood, but this one doesn't have that piercing lemony scent.
There's a coincidence @Taesik Yun .....I have just been going through a long over due oils tidying up and resegregating into some kind of order as per my not very up todate note keeping on blending and macerations over the last four years or so.
And low and behold I came upon one of my first 3ml maceration of Golden Bough from @Aroma Sublime and the late Tony. I had put some grains of Siberian into it and it had turned a lovely lite ruby colour. It worked really well with time and the Bough has united very pleasently with the grains.
It is one of the few sandalwoods that allows more expression from the musk and in no way drowns it out as some sandalwoods do. Wearing it now and just saw your post.
And rather strangely, I am getting some fruity notes, if that is possible with these two.
But there you go...
