I was gifted this rare treasure, truly fantastical incense unlike anything else I have.
Cant wait to try the Infinity. I tried a small amount of Sho - Kaku and oh my, what a beautiful incense, I didn't want to burn all of it, only small burns at a time, and even more so with Myo-Ho. I will keep the Myo-Ho for tomorrow for a clean, fresh nose to appreciate it, same with most of the others.

I have a couple of bottles of hainan oud coming from nineregions on Aliexpress. A bit of a gamble but I need a budget basic oud so I can add authentic oud notes to perfume without having to charge an arm and a leg. Richard/Wardlab had hooked me up with some good oils for this purpose of different grades, most really reasonable in cost and good smelling for the price. I don't know what his source was so I'm trying to see if nineregions can fill that niche. I will report back with my findings. I was considering some of the oils that grandawood has but haven't really been taken by any of their budget priced offerings.

I mention these instead of the vendors here just because the folks selling here are aiming a fair bit higher in quality and price point, selling oud as perfume as opposed to oud as rough / raw material to blend with. I really struggle with the thought of using any of the oils I enjoy in themselves in perfume just because I don't think I can improve on that kind of beauty.

Interested in your thoughts on the nineregions ouds when you get them. I believe someone else on here has tried one or two but I don't remember who or what. I've been looking at Broadlinks oils and I think what you're after could also be found through them and I get the impression this is part of the market they're aiming for as well as they're making the stuff on an industrial scale. Nothing niche about them that's for sure.

I am gonna get a few 1.5ml from Kaho from Broadlinks, and the ones I like I am gonna get 3 - 5 6gram bottles, and experiment with atleast 1 of them and keep the other ones as an oud I can wear without much guilt, and just use them and intake the nice smell and maybe ponder at the notes while doing something else without taking it too seriously with studying and therefore use them exact opposite as I do with great oils, which I use to basically meditate.

I believe this is exactly what Broadlink are aiming at. Everyday wear for anyone.

I'm curious to see which of their oils has the price/quality ratio. There's very little to go on other than some information on the age and minimal aroma notes

Thanks for sharing I look forward to hear how you get on as I have been curious about there budget oud for the same reason so would definitely be useful and fun to have something worth using as an oud note!

It will be interesting to see where these fall out. I have received a handful of CK and hainan and other plantation sinensis oils with kinamic notes. What I have smelled could be classified into a few broad categories (talking plantation oils only):

1) Sugary/minty
2) floral/cassie/violet
3) petrichor/peppery / (+/-salivary 😩)
4) simple sweet clean
5) dull sweet flat waxy salivary😩

The first four have some common bitter sweet sinensis / kinamish thing going on. Type 4 is utterly unappealing cheap co2 extracts come to mind. Type one is generally the most kinam like throughout its evaporation, type 2 can have very true to kinam dry down. 3 and 4 add some notes from kinam but never really pull them together - they feel like they need a little help like some musk or ambergris or a bit of deeper oud. type five seems beyond redemption I'm not sure why it exists.

Grandawood sells a couple of those at a low price point "Heaven Smoke (double happiness)" and "zen path".

New shaver for the woods, have to test it later trying to cut hard/mid/soft woods.

I've just received my first order from @Al Hashimi . I took advantage of their very generous Eid offer—not only did I receive two bottles of oud at great discounts, but I also got an additional gram of oud and a bottle of Santal X on the house. Now that's a deal!

I've smelled the ouds, and they smelled wonderful. I can't wait to dive in further. But what I've swiped is Santal X. My initial reaction is WOW—I didn't know sandalwood could smell like this. The oil is thick, nearly black, and smells deliciously toasted, nutty, and cinnamon-forward. Thirty minutes later as it is beginning to dry down, the creamy heart of sandalwood is beginning to appear. What a fantastic oil! It is almost "gourmand" all by itself, but without any vanillic overtones.

I'm excited to smell the ouds I received, but this Santal X is something I've never experienced before. Lovely.
