I should be getting two budget priced nineregions "hainan" oils today... tracking with Aliexpress is sketchy at best for me. These would just be for blending I assume and not to appreciate in themselves, unlike the finer stuff...

I want to make oud forward perfume but don't want to destroy the quality specimens by mixing them in other oils so I have to find the cheap stuff at least for now.

Levent - MesOud

OUDOLOGIE - Royal Hindi Gaf Char Oud (ReUp)

Ouddilicous - Wild Super Pontianak (ReUp) etc..

Shoyiedo - agarwood chips jinkou matsu

BUT REALLY in the market for funkadelic multifaceted barnalicous ouds!!
You might find the Sulaym HM Royal Lao to be an eye opener (if you haven't smelled that classic Lao ferment style - not making any assumptions) there's nothing else like it and it seems relatively rare as laos ain't what it used to be oud wise.

Sampling Areej le Dore-Paradise Soil. It's a floral times 10, it has some tasty tuberose in a vintage style. I had Kiehl's musk before and this is giving me similiar vibes. For appearances sake I'd like Paradise Soil a bit more subtle about the florals.
We all do Ersel, we all wish it was subtler on the florals 😅 I routinely wear women's fragrances but I still have a difficult time with it, and ignoring the fact that Jasmine, Musk, and Oud are like my absolute favorite notes of all time!

Getting a package from @mesOUD is always the best part of any day. I had finally received the long awaited Levent! Many days of watching Mehmet grind up wood and staring in awe as the oil drips down his distilling rig. I was watching along the whole time feeling like I was right there in the room with him. Getting a first person look at the birth of a future legendary distillation. We can take for granted sometimes how much access Mehmet gives us into his process, from steps A-Z. No secrets or messing around with marketing tactics, pure top-grade wood distilled with the utmost care. And a big shoutout to @YusaAromatics for getting this crazy sinking wood over to him. Distillations that would be unobtainable for me financially if they were done by many popular distillers, with price tags soaring into the thousands. I have swiped a bit of Levent as soon as I received the package in my hands, and it smells like an oil that is destined for greatness.

On another note, I had purchased a small amount of VietKing a few months ago and it was tragically lost in the mail. I accepted that I would have to wait until his second version to smell this widely praised masterpiece. Mehmet had heard about it, but was unfortunately completely sold out of it, even from his personal stash. Much time has passed, but Mehmet had not forgotten about me. Lo and behold somehow he had gotten some of this beauty back, and I was blessed to be able to acquire it too. Out of all the treasures I have in my collection this will sit atop the throne. I will take my time swiping this one, something incredibly special that I will be swiping with great attention. No words left to express the gratitude I have for my dearest brother Mehmet.

Are the Attar bottles 1g or 2.5?

I’m starting to find out that the more you spend on a attar or oud the less likely it is to be worth the money. I’m also starting to find out that it’s better to purchase a sample size before going for the big bottles… no matter how big the hype is!

You're not happy with those purchases? Al Shareef is pretty much the gold standard.

Levent, distilled by @mesOUD from wood from @YusaAromatics

When I smelled this for the first time on Friday, I instantly smelled leather. Not like a leather wallet, or bag, but my mind instantly made the connection to a small leather pouch I once smelled.

I got this for most of the duration of that first wearing. And once a beautiful and sweet vanilla came out

Today, smelling it again from the vial, I get a smoky, incense, maybe roasted coffee?

It’s wild to experience how fast these new oils change, and I cant wait to see how this develops over the next days, weeks, months, and even years. This is something special!

Ah, gold standard? What do you mean by that? I want to see what I'm missing out since I haven't made much purchases from ASO. I tried samples of few of his oils but didn't like the aesthetics. But it's just me. What clicked with you?
