Anything in there you're particularly excited about?I have orders from Eden Botanicals and Hermitage coming. Starting to build up a collection of materials and get serious about perfumery.
I still have an order from Rising Phoenix from a while ago too. He takes ages to send out packages and my anticipation is boiling.
All of these are amazing. I’ve tried all of them and heard good things about all of them from other people.Al bayt al ateeq II
Yaqoot II
Al Ghaliyah 2 ordered from Al Shareef Oudh.
ofcourse samples of those.
Heard very good about Bayt Al Ateeq 2 fingers crossed.
@Mr.P
Actually Hermitage and Eden have arrived already and I have been enjoying a lot of what I got. Before they arrived I was just excited to get my nose on a bunch of new ingredients. Now that I have them I am enjoying the process of getting to know each ingredient and experimenting with some blends.
I’ve only spent a couple days with tons of ingredients that I ordered, but here are some highlights so far:
Onycha/Mysore from Hermitage is amazing and fascinating and I think it will be an interesting ingredient to work with.
Chinese sambac is hyped up in the Hermitage description and indeed, it's one of the best I’ve smelled. I also got some Auriculatum which is really nice stuff. I love jasmine in general so I’m always looking for the best.
Green Cognac from Eden is really interesting. I like cognac(the liquor) and I was surprised how reminiscent it was.
I have been looking for a good saffron and saffron oleoresin is way better than anything else I have found. If you know of anything else please point me in the right direction.
And aside from that I just got a ton of things so I won't talk about everything, but lots of great stuff and lots of new things that I have never smelled before. I will say that the quality seems to be generally better with Hermitage, but it's hard to say for sure because I got different things from each vendor.
Still waiting on risingphoenix. I got the enfleurage absolutes(all 4 in a set) and I am hoping they are at least nearly worth the price. Really looking forward to that.
I'll have to go ahead and learn to make my own extracts. I love the smell of saffron, but it seems impossible to fit it inside an attar without losing it in the blend because the scent is very shy.Sounds like you have some wonderful things there. As far as saffron goes, I decided just to make my own extracts and don't have a source that I know of.
Exactly. I did get a few duplicates but I still don't have any real comparison of them.I agree it's pretty much impossible to make a comparison of quality between two places unless you're doing side by sides of comparable product or something.
I do feel like Hermitage has more premium pricing so it wouldn't surprise me if they had slightly more select quality specimens of some materials. Eden has some great stuff but there are some things that have not thrilled me like some rose oils. Some of those samples were from a long time ago so I need to broadly sample their rose materials again some day.I'll have to go ahead and learn to make my own extracts. I ordered more than 50 items total between Hermitage and Eden and I received the first one on Wednesday. I have not had nearly enough time to go through them and really get an idea of what they are about. Only a few that I have really worked with at all. For most of them, I have only smelled their top notes from the vial.
I think it's worth trying some of the things they have. I have been very impressed with the ingredients I have worked with.if I lived in Europe I might try Hermitage a little more often - i've only sampled a couple of their items

Great choice on the sample pack from Al Shareef. His perfumes are great.@Phan have you tried the 9 years aged java vetiver from hermitage? it's lovely... also was surprised at how good their mitti attar is
after following dear @Al Shareef Oudh on this forum for ages & benefitting much from their knowledge finally placed a little first order with them... excited to make my way through the perfume sample pack!

Congrats man! It's a exceptional score, and you're someone who'll truly appreciate it, given how much you adore this profile. May the stress free swipes commence! Finally got the cash together to score myself a full 3g bottle of Zamarad 2 - Habzoud.

Speaking of which, I finally caved and purchased a Subitism Burner from @Aroma Sublime they're having a sale for
Tết and while my ceramic burner is alright for longer sessions, the time it takes to heat up really limits its utility. I also wanted to purchase mica plates but since they're included (among several other goodies) I thought why not! I have loads of woods and powders to work through, and the ceramic is sufficient for enjoying them (hence my delay in purchasing another heater) my hope is this'll free me from handling charcoal, at least for short sessions, when waiting for the coal to cool down, both before and after the burn is an overhead!
