I am really in need of a budget oud to use as fixative so I went ahead and ordered the smallest sampler i could get from yuzhi. Mild Ck can work fine as a fixative- there are two types that I am looking for, one is a little bit minty and the other one is a little bit peppery - would be very happy to find a bulk source of either of those.

Unsure of your budget. These guys do bulk oils. https://oudvietnam.com/product-category/pure-oud-agar-oil/Nothing fancy just different grades etc. There's that Chinese company as well. @The Scent Guru sometimes shares their stuff. I sent them an enquiry not long ago regarding sample sets for oils and woods and what they came back to me with was impressive to say the least. Again nothing artisinal but for a couple of hundred dollars you'd end up with more oud than you'd know what to do with.
I do? No, I don't think I've ever dealt with them unless under a different name?

Broadlink is the name. I just remembered. Weren't you talking about them at some stage?
Yes! Broadlink I have reviewed and own a handful of their oils. 🙂

I just bought the last 1g of Sulaym HMSQ Burmi 79, I don't know anything about this oil ither than some of the reviews I've read which is what led me to buy it. I know I'm in a for a treat, can't wait to try my first Burmese oud.

Got my Oudique samples last night!!!
But, tragically of course I have a head cold and can’t smell anything right now. Malay OG, Merauke Qadeem and a surprise free sample of Pailin Aka (Cambodia). The two samples I paid for seem really big. I was able to get minor scent impressions just from smelling the dipsticks, I can tell that I have something to look forward to once my cold goes away. The Pailin really got me, even being sick I could get a good idea of how nice it probably is.

Thanks for those suggestions- I'm guessing I can find the CK profile I'm looking for at broadlink - don't see any practical sample sets from them however. I am hoping one of the yuzhi oils will work but if not, I may well try broadlink.

I ordered 6 grams of HM Royal Viet from Sulaym, which is actually the most of any single oud that I have ever purchased.
I sampled it before but I put some musk in that sample and wrapped it up. I am going to break that open today and see what it’s like, but I am also just excited to be able to swipe this oud again because it’s great and I couldn’t stop swiping the sample when I had it open.
I also got their HM Khus. Not sure what to expect from it.

Just got these! I still have a cold and I’m sure I’m missing some nuances but I can at least smell them. There’s no question which end of the whale these come from! Of the two I like the gold one the most in its raw form. If you’ve ever smelled “oriental poppy resin” it reminds me of that. Floral, grapey, powdery on top of the straight up fecal smell. I think some of the gold is probably going into some Mitti attar because, of the preliminary sniffing I’ve done, that was just such an incredible combo.

Today I have some natural nerolidol, peru balsam "extra", tonka bean absolute, and fresh ginger oil arriving from Perfume Supply House. Nerolidol is strange but I have a use for it - it is basically like an isolated aspect of amyris oil. I think I have glass-stopper perfume bottles and sample vials arriving as well (but the package got delayed and the tracking has been off so who knows).
Also on the way but not arriving today is a set of whatever Yuzhi is offering these days. Looking for the perfect oud fixative for some entry level priced perfumes. That got in the mail a couple of days ago, includes 4 extra samples which is great, I imagine it will be a couple of weeks before I see that

Is PSH any good? I’ve been getting raw natties from Fraterworks, Apothecary’s Garden, Perfumer’s Apprentice, snd Liberty Naturals. Always curious about houses with high grade natty stuff.
