I'm going crazy still waiting for my Oils from Ouddict from that Exclusive and Limited $4000+ Artisanal Oud Oil Offer
He shipped Monday DHL so I hope to get it by Saturday Inshallah. I haven't had new oils in years since I was diagnosed Medically disabled and couldn't work any longer so eagerly waiting.😌

Easy! Just put the mica on your sub & heat the powder on it. Like Olfactory Nomad mentioned, it doesn’t require much heat to get it going, so start very low & work your way up,
Thank you both!
Wasn't asked but wanted to chime in, I can see Grega's interpretation but personally Mousse de Chene's description is on point! If you've ever smelled Siberian Musk grains while they're still fairly moist, there's an almost soil like scent to them. I wouldn't go as far to say petrichor, but in that neighborhood. Sniffing my bottle again as I type this, and from the several times I've worn it, it's this concentrated resin leathery scent, but not sharp leathery. I can also smell the moss facet Mousse described. There's a lightness in the blend from the wild Thai used, but it's not anywhere as airy as something like ASO's A'Meen (which has a concentrated lemon cola note). Musk is for sure a major player here, and the oud kinda smells like a cross between a dark Maroke and a Kelantan oil. There is an airy-ness to the blend, but again as Mousse mentioned before me, it's not camphoric, instead it's more an earthy coolness one would find in the scent of petrichor.

This won't be helpful at all as a description, but the scent of Zumurrud (and Modhesh now that I think of it) reminds me of the scent on my beard after fumigating. Like you've just burned the most regal incense stick, with copious amounts of oud weeping with resin and musk. It's my reference for Siberian musk macerated in Malaysian oud, and it's a very addictive scent. I think wearing it with a jasmine sambac heavy attar or perfume could make it more feminine, if your palate so desires.
Actually, with what you and Mousse de Chene have added, I’m really intrigued! I love Kelantan oud, and austere resins and woods. It sounds amazing. My only question is whether the musk would be too heavy for me, and that’s probably unknowable for you all.

It’s interesting you using “austere”. Last week I was into voluptuous roses roses. This week, austere resins.

That sounds like an amazing order. What kinds of things are you getting?

Samples arrived from @Faizal_p ! Will share my thoughts once I have had a chance. Have sniffed a few of course - everything is smelling delicious!

I’m thinking of a way to describe it & it’s proving to be rather difficult. With all the references to spring, green fields, sunny skies etc - I actually perceive it to be much darker & more moody.
Picture an aged, dark deep resinous, slightly smoky, dry woody incensey Indonesian oil without much camphor or oceanic nuances, blended with a touch of fruity, jammy Thai Crassna. An austere black profile, with a playful fruity-floral light shining through it. Add a significant dose of furry, leathery, slightly fruity Musk to the blend.
It’s one of the more animalic ASO compositions, but there’s a honeyed sweetness + a cooling mossy, wet greenery to keep it from being too dark or dry.
In regards to gender, of course any scent is unisex, but traditionally Zumurrud is masculine. It’s not ‘perfumey’, floral or sweet ambery, it has a serious aroma that is phenolic, dry, woody & animalic with an ethereal yet deep incensey effect of aged Oud.
Yep definitely on the darker side if I take it that dark is like myrrh and light is like frankincense. Its effect is imo more towards myrrh's. But the green fields reference in the description holds for me pretty well (though obviously not essential as different places can be imagined that can be populated with the same notes we are describing). The scent of pastures in a cool spring morning with water nearby (imo a crucial part of the scent is a similarity to wet clay and soil). The sun heating herbs so that they add to the overall scent. Resin on the nearby trees with an animalic scent surrounding them. Wet clay and apples fermenting in the sun nearby.
You are right there is also a slight smokiness to it.

I don't think the musk should be a problem here as it is not like raw musk in its heaviness. It is noticeable but not at all unpleasant. I think it is actually an easy thing to wear not like Hekayat which I find is more challenging to others when I wear it (which is why I do it only at home in my room).

I appreciate this more than I can express Grega (hence the chuckling emoji), I suffer from not being able to detect when animalic notes are too much for those around me, so this is a good reference for me,

When Mousse said

I thought to myself, really? 🤔 I should take that into consideration more now! 😅

Speaking of Kelatan ouds, Malay Kristal, the fourth from the left in Mr. P's photo from Faizal is an absolutely insane oud! Smells like you're standing next to a water fall, in some secluded portion of the jungle, and that cool, misty scent of the water, as it crashes down, has been captured in a oud oil 🤤 An insta-smile worthy oud anytime I catch a whiff!

You're in my duas brother Kabir! May you be granted a complete shif'aa, and be made fragrant in all states, be rewarded for your patience with coffers of aromatics, both in this world and the next 📿

I ordered a full bottle of Yaqoot 2 along with samples of Al Bayt Ateeq 2, Ghaliyah 2, and Zumurrud.

I used to wear a lot of perfumes in the past, but ever since I ventured into oud and attars, I cannot stand those persistent synthetic fragrances anymore. Once you fall in love with oud, its nearly impossible to go back to synthetics.
I feel the same way about regular perfumes. ASO is probably my favorite perfumer, and everything you ordered is great.

I will warn you that Zumurrud and Yaqoot are just oud and musk. They are excellent but if you don't like wearing plain oud then I am not sure those will be up your alley. I hope you enjoy them anyways.

Al Ghaliyah 2 and ABAA 2 are excellent and more potent. I am sure you will love them.

Is Musk prominent in Yaqoot 2 ? From the description of the attar on ASO website it appears that there is more than 40% musk in it and I am really looking forward to having a real musk experience. I actually like the animalic musky smell. I adore it.

@Mousse de Chene @Grega Can either of you describe Zumurrud? I've read the website description and it sounds really interesting. But I can't imagine it. Although I believe most fragrances are unisex, does this one tend masculine? I just placed an order with @Al Shareef Oudh to get a Ghaliyah, sample but I didn't get this. Too uncertain.
It's very masculine.

To my nose it's very dark, deep, heavy oud and the only other ingredient is musk. It has no top notes, brightness, sweetness, or anything of that sort.

Ghaliyah is also very masculine in my opinion, but maybe not as much as Zumurrud. If you are walking around lookig feminine and presenting it that way, then you might be able to pull it off as a feminine or neutral scent. With zumurrud I think that would be impossible.

Did you try Hekayat? How do you describe it. Is it more of sandalwood fragrance or is there that animalic musky smell to it as well?

It's good stuff friend. You will like it.

It's hard to tell where the scent of oud ends and the musk begins, but yes I would say the musk is quite prominent. It's also well blended and this is just a very good use for the musk.

I have tried it and yes it's quite animalic.

With Zumurrud, Yaqoot, and Heykayat, the musk is going to take on the character of whatever it is macerated with. The musk is quite strong in all of them, but musk is a chameleon and it smells different depending on what you put it in. That is just the nature of this material.

If you are interested in this, then I suggest you go to sibermusk/ninjarobb and get some musk grains. Get mongolian and siberian because they are significantly different. Smell them straight and do your own macerations. Keep some of the oil without musk so that you can understand the difference it makes by comparing them. Then you will be able to understand this material.

It's worth doing for it's own sake as well. Musk can significantly elevate an oud oil. I have done it with some of my oils and I was extremely happy with the results.

Thanks a lot for explaining that quite well. I never knew that fact about musk that it takes on the character of its macerating material. Did you try SOROOR from mesOUD? It is a maceration of oud said with musk and ambergris and I can smell some animalic in it and I guess it is musk. There is 15% musk and 10% ambergris in that attar.

> "But I would add that the feeling it gives off is that of late spring herbs in the sun with a cooling middle."

This sounds so beautiful. I guess I need to find an eligible guy and gift it to him 😁
The middle eastern perfumery art has an element where we compose the scent to change shape based on the skin chemistry of the wearer. If feminine lady wears it and a masculine man wears it, it will smell different on each and supplement them perfectly. Hence why in our tradition apart from the loudness or colour of the scent there is no distinction between who can wear them. We will include a sample of Zumurrud for you.
