I have orders from Eden Botanicals and Hermitage coming. Starting to build up a collection of materials and get serious about perfumery.

I still have an order from Rising Phoenix from a while ago too. He takes ages to send out packages and my anticipation is boiling.
He sent out some packages before he went on vacation. If you haven't got yours yet, it's going to be a bit longer. He's in India, from the looks of his Instagram.

Here's what's coming my way from Eden and Perfumers Supply House. Perfume making supplies and samples...

I have a sample of a 2022 Koh Kong oud plus a sample of a 2020 Pehang oud coming. Both from The Tea Guru. Also I have another sample from Bakhoor Store Incense on the way of a Cambodia/Trat oud oil blend. Some day's I really love the thick jammy over-ripe fruit scent of an old school Cambodi etc so I'm on the hunt for a good supply that's not crazy expensive so I can swipe away to my hearts content when the desire overcomes me. The bottles I currently own of these types are woefully small.

Being able to maintain a decent stock of a reasonably good smelling affordable oud is really the goal for me. I love being able to occasionally learn from the really good stuff as well but some of my most precious finds are those decent accessible oils, imperfect though they often are.

There's something magical I'm noticing this winter (I know it's not Winter in Australia), I'm craving these sorts of Crassna oils, be they Thai or Cambodi, almost to the extent of having discovered a new dimension of them. Perhaps it's the excessive heat we need to maintain indoors, or the swipes left on the inside of coat sleeves, or the contrast in temperature when I venture out into the freezing cold, who knows. I've also started seeing them as additions to have incense rituals, now this might be completely in my head, but applying an oil and burning a stick gives the oil an additional nuance I wasn't noticing before, perhaps the smoke on my clothes is fooling me into thinking of this 🤷‍♂️

It's paid dividends for me. Being able to swipe them without worry also means I can wear them more often, they're easier to reach for when I'm just about to run out the door, and don't have time to grab a tiny glass rod and crack open a v-vial. I'm hoping with good storage they'll be available to me for years to come. I also feel less terrified carrying them in my jacket or my pocket.

I tend to enjoy oils I've developed an association with through wearing them for weeks on end, and even while I have them on, sniffing them from the cap, so having a quantity I'm not afraid of running out of, and that's decently complex, and above all enjoyable, I mean what's better than a good deal on an oil that relaxes you after a tough day, can't think of much!

So you're yet to reach this goal? Or I suspect there is no one single goal? Damn, this may be harder than I first thought!

That makes total sense combining oil and smoke. It is something I have also noticed but only by happy accident. I have not intentially sought to combine the two. Maybe I should? I don't know if I will find what I'm looking for in these other oils I have coming. Even more than the jammy over-ripe fruit that I do enjoy is the dry down of these oils (AlHind Oud) they're the vintage thaquil zen oils he has so I suspect what I'm looking for, maybe particular only to these oils or maybe not? As yet, I don't have others to compare them against. It is very hot and humid here in Brisbane right now so they do suit when I'm outside.

I am still looking for that perfect every day carry oud, but I have a few favorites I rotate through, and I'm pretty satisfied with my stash!

I absolutely think the combination would have a tangible effect on the way that oil is perceived because I'm sure there's a kind of enfleurage effect with smoke particles being absorbed by the oil on your skin. Probably the true ultimate way to enjoy oud! Wipe yourself down with oil, stand in the way of billowing clouds of oud. Speaking of which I'm going to take advantage of my recent shift to empty nest mode and I am going to burn a nugget fumigation style

got some santalum spicatum logs inbound from New Mountain, along with some shredded austrocaledonicum! though i have these inbound, im still hunting for Australian heartwood or roots. ive got the itch to make a large batch of copper distilled oil since the last batch came out so beautifully.
