Oh god, a lot, so now I have to stay strong for a few months, I'd actually love to go on a holiday again eventually, which won't work if I keep spending on fragrances.

So yesterday arrived 2.5 grams of white ambergris - already prepared a 10% oil (jojoba), today will start 10% tincture.

Today a 20 year old (apparently) Mysore sandalwood oil should arrive, got it from ebay from a shop with 100% posite reviews (I think seller is called "behonest").

Then I'm waiting for the 10ml ambergris Essential oil from natroil, which in hinsight I think is fake, the price is way to low for 10 ml, reviews are good, but unusual for real ambergris there's not one negative review from some people who expected a proper perfume (Etsy), which is unlikely for real ambergris -so it seems like people are reviewing an ambery perfume. Seller says it is real though and it showing the product with real ambergris pieces - but I'd say - I smell a rat! I still hope it will be a nice scent that I can maybe wear alone.

THEN - the most excited I'm for my new order from Canada based Apothecary's Garden, I don't even remember every single piece I ordered, but here's the most important ones:

10% ambergris tincture, 1ml
Musk rat oil and tincture
Musk root oil (other tincture? don't remember now)
Mastix chios oil
Myrrh absolute
Bushman's candle tincture
Benzyl benzoate
Benzoine absolutely

Don't really know, what to with all that yet - open for any ideas from ya'll.

Blessings
Amberbreens

Mitti gulab - Mesoud

I'm so happy I pulled the trigger because it sold out a few days after I placed my order

Qaf collection - Sulaym

Just read the description of each attar is all I have to say

You'll have @mesOUD's Mitti Gulab before you know it. I ordered it Thursday evening and it made it to the U.S. by Monday night! That is fast work on the part of both Mehmet and UPS. The gulab is beautiful. I also got his Shahvar attar and he sent a sample of Naseem. (I'm saving the two attars till I'm feeling better.)

@SULAYM is equally speedy. I ordered the Qaf collection as soon as it went online. DHL tells me it'll be arriving Thursday.

Excellent service as well as quality perfumes. What more could one ask for?

Funnily enough, mitti gulab came just more than an hour after I made that post. Shahvar is next on my list to get, as well hopefully bigger bottles of al ghalia badee and soroor iA

Luckily for me, I'm in the same country as Sulaym so they always get to me rapidly

SOROOR is a gem! Hands down one of the best musk ambergris maceration in oud. It curls you into serenity.

I've noticed the following place selling some pretty interesting macerations/ enfleurage extracts. I think you will end up with a fixed oil that has been saturated with the aroma. I have no experience with this company

thank you!

super king char, and 4a flat from ThienThanhAgarwoodVN. the char is low on oil, high on super sweet smell. its a treat on the sub because its so well cleaned! the 4a is oily. puts off a really great smell. i might consider running some in the future due to it being lower cost than higher end cultivated stuff. i feel like it would make better oil than ive been told.

I've got a bunch of smaller samples of flat chip from a few sources and it does indeed smell good. However, I am not a fan of how it's produced and I do wonder just how good/bad it might be for us to inhale an oil made in this particular way? I might be totally prejudice, I don't know? They strip all the bark off a mature tree then paint the bare trunk in inoculate. Once it does it's thing they then literally strip those flat sheets off the tree. Barely any cleaning to be done. It's an interesting process.

Yeah that material is sketchy sounding I have to admit. If the inoculant is something like honey and fungus spores then it's all good of course

Well that's the thing though isn't it? You've got no idea as they're not required to tell you much at all about how it's produced. For all we know, a lot of plantation oils may already be made using this kind of wood? When an oud oil is listed as plantation, what do we know about that process other than the fact it's not wild? Does anyone question this at all?

It is worth considering for sure. I have purchased specific plantation oils because they listed non-chemical induction methods- hot poker or "bio" / "organic" and would always make that call given the information

It's a fascinating processing, on the one hand you're not cutting the whole tree down, though I imagine the size of a section needs to be maintained, so as to not shock the entire tree. It's less work for craving the pieces so that also contributes to cheaper price. For me personally, what I've encountered hasn't been at all terrible, and I firmly believe we need to have options at different price points, and honestly I'm never one to forgo a deal. Also the grade I have bubbles so for the uninitiated, that alone would make it desirable, however people have at not so great experiences with it, so there's that angle as well. Though my experience from another region's oud skins has been the same as Goodness Nose's, favorable.

I never considered people would make oils from these woods, my understanding was shavings were so abundant that, those alone kept the boilers fully and cooking. Goes back to that age old question of finding the tradeoff between good resinous wood and good oil producing wood.

There ya go. I haven't come across that bit of information before. Do you remember which company shared that?

That all makes sense. It makes me wonder though at the transparency of big oud/oil producers that pump out hundreds of litres of the stuff as to how they get their supply of wood so quickly? Or is this really not a thing?
