Hi, I am an Oud novice and love Oud. I never liked adulterated perfume I am new to all this and here to learn and continue with my love of Oud. I like EO can't afford it but love it. God I haven't even heard of half of these ouds I feel I have a lot to learn so bring it on! On a journey to learn about Oud and the beauty it holds, all different with their own notes!

Welcome onboard the start of the journey is always the most memorable, you will look back and look at how and why you became a ouddict!!! We hope the forum helps and look foward to you sharing your knowledge and learning 🙂

I guess I should introduce myself, even though I've just posted🙂
I'm Casey, an oud lover. Have been on this road of discovery for a bit now. Just when I think I'm getting comfortable with this wonder-substance, I read/smell something new and I'm reminded again of how juvenile my journey has been.

Welcome aboard the Oud ship! We hope you benefit and share your knowledge with all our international Ouddict's 🙂

Hello, my name is Mohammed , MzM are my initials and my username as well. I grew up in the middle east and lived in Africa for a while before moving to the United states, been living in Illinois and Texas for the last 16 years. My first experience with Oud was in 2012, at an Arabian Oud store when a family friend of mine walked in and wanted to buy some as a gift, the salesman dabbed a stick on my hand as well even though I protested as I was smelling it directly from the stick first. About half an hour later, I got this beautiful whiff of something majestic, a scent that I had never smelled before...and I was looking around to figure out the origin of the scent...and eventually figured it was the dab that the salesman had put on my wrist. I have been hooked ever since...although have found much much better quality than Arabian Oud. Some of the Ouds I own are, Oudimentary, Ensar and Imperial. I like burning Oud chips as well. I also like attars, so far I have only tried Sultan Pasha and some cheap rose ones from ASAQ. I am always interested in learning about the art of scent. I am also interested in Japanese incense and the way of incense ceremonies (koh do), hope to experience that in person soon.

Hello everyone,

Robert, a Scot in Oklahoma here.

I am almost completely new to Oud, only having sampled the pure stuff in the last couple of months but enjoying them immensely on so many levels.

Because of my skin type that does not hold fragrance very well at all, to sometimes generating an entirely different scent profile from almost everyone else's experience I found that I liked to chronicle my testing notes, so I will be making a mammoth first post here under the reviews section just as soon as I am finished writing this as I have it saved as a doc.

I certainly hope to make some good online friends here with as time allows .... I am up so late because two boys needed more liquid in and diapers / nappies changed at 4am!

welcome aboard

Welcome onboard and thanks for joining. We hope the forum is beneficial, il fire away with the first Q are you able to carry out GCMS testing on oud oils? Or help understand results?

Thank you and sorry for completely missing your reply! The answers are maybe and yes 🙂 I can definitely help with interpretation. I have access to LCMS equipment (superior to GCMS) but since I actually have to work, I have limited time to look at other stuff. But once in a while for something interesting I am able to do it.

Would you be willing to do GCMS on KZ1985 how much oil would you need? 😀

Yes. It takes less than a drop. It is debated whether it contains something besides oud right? For MS to be meaningful, it helps to have some idea what you're looking for.

Sorry all I did not see this section.
My name is Farid (Fareed).
I'm 30 and I live in Bordeaux, south west France.
I'm in social housing and temporary housing for homeless people.
I got addicted to natural perfumery and specialy oud 2 years ago.
I try sometimes to create my own attars for personnal use and I'm very curious about distillation and I'd love one day to get a small pot for personnal use also.
