What is "dark damask rose"?
Just a hydro distilled Rosa damascena. The supplier i got them from had a light and a darker version. Not sure what accounts for the variance between the two.
What is "dark damask rose"?
I have my eyes on this one. How is it ?Jinkoh To Byakudan - Agaraura.
I'm also wearing 333 Tsuga Musk Imperial today.Tsuga Musk 2 from Mellifluence. Been a long time since I’ve tried this one. Makes more sense to me now. You kind of have to really apply a good amount to get the right effect. But it’s nice and fresh. Mountain air, check. Musk, just a bit. Nice.
the horses would give you a true measure of quality for sure.Came across a blog post earlier about Aleister Crowleys "signature scent" ahaha...
"The aroma of Aleister Crowley came from the 'sex-appeal' ointment with which he smeared himself. He called this unguent 'Ruthvah: the Perfume of Immortality'. It was made up of one part ambergris, two parts musk, and three parts civet, aphrodisiacs which contributed to his attraction for women; and horses, too, if it is true, as he said, that they whinnied after him when he passed along the street. 'It must be rubbed into the body, ' wrote the Master Therion, 'particularly at the roots of the hair where the skin is not too tightly stretched, so thoroughly that the subtle perfume of the preparation is not detected, or even suspected, by others. The user is thus armed with a most powerful weapon, the more potent for being secret, against the deepest elements in the nature of those whom it is wished to attract. They obey, and they are all the more certainly compelled to obey, because they do not know that they are being commanded."
I personally love all those ingredients on their own so I thought I'd to try to make a similar concoction. I figured the worst case scenario, I could just use it as an animalic accord in other mixes. I toned down the ratio of civet though and upped the amount of ambergris. Also threw in some rose and muskrat tincture for good measure.
The opening smell is extremely fecal/sweaty/animalic and floral. The more egregious animalic facets begin to fade pretty quickly though and it becomes more of a fuzzy/musky rose. It's probably not for everyone but overall, I find it quite intoxicating. I think I will up the ratio of rose to try to cover up that initial blast of animalics though. Curious to see how this develops once it sits for a while and revisit.
P.S. I will also be sure to update you all if I start to notice that horses start whining after me as I pass them along the streets 😂
