For some of us(myself included), agar aura has certain high level ouds that really take time to smell in their fullness. A full week of micro swipes and dee breathing, then put it away for two weeks. Something crazy seems to happen when you put it back out. It’s like a brand new oud. Everything is turned up to the max. Still no guarantee that you’ll enjoy the scent profile. But it does change. Myitkyina 4K is my favorite recent release. Super powerful, brain-bending Spivey-woody-Berry-wine-Kinam is how it comes across to me now.

have you tried Agar Aura ouds that you like or is this one of the first?

what are some of your favorite oils in general?

also— hi!
This is the first one I tried. Well I'm going to order more samples from this house because I can tell he's a great blender and oil maker. I just don't like this scent.

Wearing a blend of what I call CUIR DU MEXIQUE

Hint of Cardamom
Hint of Orange
Coffee Abs.
Mexican Vanilla Abs
Cinnamon
Turkish Rose
Butter Abs
Tonka abs
Frank EO
Resinous/Dark Philipino Oud

I was intending to make this a gourmand(mexican coffee) but this fili oud is so tenacious that it offsets all the sweet aspects with dark leather.

ASO Yaqoot I. Vibes of Malaysian green and chocolatey muskiness. I'm still flabbergasted with the number of grains included in the mixture. Speaks to the generosity of our beloved vendor. Excited to see what Yaqoot II has to offer someday God willing.

Sultan Pasha - Tabacaurum

I've been testing this oil for weeks and still pondering how to describe the scent. the opening reminds me of the chewy cherry snack I liked as a kid. I can detect ingredients but they are blended quite compactly so it's not easy. I appreciate the effort that went into making this complex composition but it's doesn't move me. it feels just chewy orange saffron tobacco jam to my nose.

the words don't come out naturally for this one.

Ahom Oud Naga Tabac.
I don't get this...I've worn this multiple times and each time I've had a different prominent note experience.
Sometimes, all I get is barn.
Sometimes I get tobacco and leathery mixed notes.
Today this is a woody saffron bomb.
Just pulled out my sample and I get a TON of Turkish Rose front and center along with green, sticky tobacco. I’m surprised how much this has changed because at first I struggled with how intensely barn it was but now I’m getting the full picture. So good.

if you don’t want yours shoot me a dm!

He normally offers a sample pack in December that I order every year. Some of his sandalwoods could be mistaken for ouds. This sample pack and Zak's Ramadan special are the two yearly offerings that put a lot of vendors to shame considering price and quality.
His top grade Oud is superb, I mean the one I got. It is Ceylon Royale II to me, and copper scent is more beautiful in it. The other two are of mediocre grade. But super grade is incredibly beautiful.

Sandal oils that I got are of different grades, and two out of five are OMG sandal oil.

Yes, some sandal oils, distilled in a copper still, leads mind to copper distilled artisanal Oud oils.

His A027 was my favorite and puts me in the mind of this top grade ceylon oil that you speak of . It was the most intense green incense that lasted until the next day on skin. Magnificent. He said this one was copper pot as well. Not sure if he just his numbers he labels his oils just keep going up with distillations or not. I have inquired quite a few times but he always says that he hasn’t ran that one again yet.

Tabacaurum (Sultan Pasha): Dry saffron, fruit- and molasses-inflected florals and wet tobacco. Not sure but I do get a gentle oud smoke quality to it. It could also be coming from some kind of aged tobacco absolute and other similar things. It is less showy than Tabac Grande, but more nuanced and has an 'avuncular quality' to it.

I’m maybe more a fan of the opulent Tabac Grande but people seem to like the dry, savory, golden aspects of Tabacaurum. It seems to be the more popular of the two.

So far, I prefer TG too - partly because of it's more oudy profile than that of Tabacaurum. But T is slowly creeping up. I think the generous uses of saffron and honey is responsible for that.

Ward by ASO.

Nice. Very clearly a fresh Taif rose focused composition. I get hints of ambered spicy patchouli and musk but the rose stays high toned and transparent. Thumbs up.

half an hour in and I’m getting more incense, the rose is in harmony but no longer dominant with the big lemony Taif facets... I’m getting a kind of Shamama effect from the spices and ambers. No sandalwood note on my skin... yet. Good stuff.

an hour after the last post, Bulgarian rose is taking over. Much softer than before in terms of profile.

Siberian Musk II attar: Pine, incense, powder, detected jasmine clearly for the 1st time, slightly woody, deer musk (grains, & pod innards). I also get that typical leather and amber facets - common in other ALDs, for e.g., OEII, Antiquity, CdR, Grandenia, etc.

Garden of Pleasures by TRNP:An incredibly evocative scent that was a love at first sniff for me.The white florals here are expertly blended with the oud, amber and mysore sandalwood, which creates such a rich exotic scent that transports you to a mythical garden of Eden. For those who are averse to white floral perfumes, fear not, as this is really well balanced and IMO a true unisex fragrance. A magical concoction from a wonderfully talented perfumer!
