True Ouddict
Purple Haze - TheOudLab - applied about 12 hours ago, through the harsh heating of a long drive, coming back home, being under a jacket etc and at no point did my mind just think meh, this is fine, or there's nothing new here. In fact from the initial application, I was shocked at how different it smelled on skin, immediately blooming in a way I've not experienced before (compared to the scent from the bottle). Three distinct phases were experienced, all unique, yet sharing an airy quality to them, even more shocking since the late dry down still preserved it, in its own unique way. Never overly sweet, nor floral nor typical. The proportions of aromatics aren't distinguishable to my nose, in a balance where occasional whisps surprise you. I genuinely can't emphasis this more, it's not a scent profile I've ever encountered, not in middle eastern scents, nor their western counterparts!
A Tarakan quality is apparent, but in the vein of Borneo X, there's also a collection of roses, and the iconic red oud, in the likeness of Thaqeel S, among even more illustrious peers, perhaps even some Papua 2003. I feel my eyes narrow and focus upon each sniff, instant tranquility, and focus follows. While I can be over zealous in my love of this house, I tried to find faults, trying to judge it harshly, yet I couldn't find any shortcoming or aspect of this scent I don't intensely adore. It was a love at first sniff ages ago, and I'm happy to have bottle!
