I was nervous for you as well. Aren't they the strangest density? They look quite solid and should be heavy but feel like they're almost hollow instead?ASO - Merauke Qadeem - After a very nervous wait for these chips having sat with customs for an age - the wait was worth it. Beautiful woody sweetness filling the room. The chips are so light - I never imagined they would smell so good. 🙂

I'm heating one of my own now in celebration for you.Like Balsa Wood, little spongy nuggets of joy.
Heating some of this now on ceramic and am pleasantly surprised by it. Very interesting profile and something novel for me. I stuck a few scraps on at an arbitrary 170°, and it was pretty mute for the first 10-15 minutes. I’ve sort-of learned not to get my hopes up too much with new Kangiiten woods, but this really started to sing after a quarter-hour, and I ended up cranking it closer to 190°.Kangiiten - Wild Nusantara (Kalimantan). This has notes I've not come across before, or certainly rarely. Everytime I push it up by degrees I get hit with very deep saliva/salty notes. Very raw almost unpleasant. This is followed quickly though by sharp fresh green apple and vanilla. Really interesting stuff.
I love the woods that teach you new things. I used to find it a bit frustrating until the woods taught me to slow down.Heating some of this now on ceramic and am pleasantly surprised by it. I’m pretty much in alignment with @Olfactory Nomad on the profile…it has a dirty, slightly saline, quite tart fruitiness to it. I can see why green apple would come to mind. I’m not getting any saliva, though. As the sourness fades, a gentler note of vanilla does indeed come to predominate. Glad I got this one.
That's a pretty large nugget on the burner there!Check out this nugget of Merauke I've got on the heater. Man it is good. Sourced from Oudtopia on Etsy.
