Bought the first plants for my garden. A huge 2.4m moringa, two 80cm jasmine sambac and a small jasmine gardenia. They’re all very hardy and can handle the sun and heat here
Good start!! I'm half kidding here but may I suggest a grandiflorum vine or two? they thrive in the heat in Sicily and grow like weeds there, might do well? Pretty much my favorite plant...

It has been SUPER interesting harvesting the cannabis plants I grew this year! First time in my life i have experimented with the genetics of fragrant plants and it is just so cool to experience: i planted some siblings from cross-pollinated hybrids, knowing that it would mean all kinds of trait combinations in the offspring. The most fascinating aspect are the aromatic differences among the sibs. One smells just like concord grapes (a trait absent in its parents). Another has a lot in common with lavender to the point where the whole time I was trimming the plant I kept thinking I was smelling it. Another had about 10x the odor intensity of the others - cloying and almost nauseatingly strong, like stepping in dogshit. Yet another is just that pure heavenly "dank" scent with no accessory notes. It's totally expected that there would be this kind of variation but it's still fascinating to see it.

I don't think I would ever grow a bunch of clones or somebody's predefined strain at this point because the genetic recombination of aroma is so fascinating.
Ancestry is white widow, peanut butter breath, mandarin cookies. For better or worse i pollinated this year with alien mints (the seed was from a very high thc batch so my hopes are to intoduce that high potency DNA).

Unfortunately I forgot to transfer them to new bigger pots with different new soil.
The jasmines handled it well but the moringa’s leaves have gone crispy and yellow, even after I transferred it to a new big pot with well draining soil and a little compost and watered it.
I hope it can be saved

Wow, that one plant is growing like a weed.

I planted several, let them take on their natural forms, planted them in rich alluvial soil (rich because my entire yard was covered with about 4 inches of swamp bottom muck due to a flood in June of '23). They grew like crazy, basically small trees

Sorry to hear it. Caring for and maintaining plants can be quite a project.

The forums have always had issues, that's just fine, just the cost of having a forum, but coming back to the basenotes DIY after about five+ years of paying little attention was like coming back to what was once a beautiful town with lots of independent businesses and discovering it has been taken over by McDonald's, 7-Eleven, Dunkin' Donuts and the Dollar Store. Bleak

Some plants just don't tolerate moving even if out of the growing season. They can be quite sensitive to any root disturbance. Hopefully it is just temporary shock and it will recover.

Oh well that’s a relief. I guess plants never expect being lifted and transported 20km away 😂. I hope it’ll become healthy again.
Today it’s still yellow and there’s tons of dry leaves on the ground, I gave it some water yesterday and it’s getting sunlight every day

Leave it be for now. Just check the twigs or branches that they too are not going crispy. Don't over water for now but monitor. If leafs are falling off then the plant wont like the extra water. I have a small olive tree in doors and if it is moved even a few feet from a window, it sheds all its leafs. Very sensitive.... insha'allah, it will be OK.

Yes, Daphne being a prime suspect here. It’s one of the most temperamental plants, especially in regard to placement transferral. Plus, some just die randomly without warning!
Regardless, they’re one of my favourite flowering plants, the fragrance they emit on a winter morning is stunning, an elegant fruity, white floral scent, without any indole.

Daphne is absolutely wonderful. Did you know it's in the same plant family as aloeswood? Every time I smell it I find myself looking for little connections to some of the florality of kinam / kyara.

Yes they both belong to the Thymelaeaceae family, I was amazed when I first learnt of this fact!. Have you found any connection? Personally I haven’t as of yet.

Mimosa, or fragrant Wattle here in Australia, shares a similarity to Kyara in my personal opinion. Smelling it fresh in the air, very much reminds me of a part of the Kyara profile. It’s amazing.

Are you going to presoak or just go straight to distilling them?....🙂
I gave most of the peppers away to people.
I dried the Cayenne peppers.Sun and air.
I then broke a bunch of them up and placed them in an open storage container.
The seeds are warm.
Note for everyone.
Don't shake around a container with hot Cayenne peppers crushed up inside,
and put your nose down in it to take a smell. Bad idea.
I froze a number of Habaneros and Calorlina Reapers.
They don't seem to dry like the Cayennes.
I don't know about soaking or distilling.

Yum. I've never tried the reapers so I'm not so sure if the "yum" extends to them or not. There's something so freaking delicious about habaneros though. It's so much more than just the heat 😍
I haven't tried the reapers yet, but yes to the habaneros.
Very good.
