Kaden Kobunboku and about to put some Tensei by Tennendo on. For Kaden, I usually put around 2-4 sticks on, lately 2 has been sufficient. For Tensei, though, my nose is still getting into the swing of it so 4 is what I need, when I was new to Tensei I needed 6 sticks to get the scent down. I honestly think Japanese sticks like this (daily ones, not ones you sit on your bed, or table top and waft into your face, you know, the very expensive premium sticks) have a soul and the more you burn them and the more you get involved with them on a deep level of maybe... spirituality? They start to reveal themselves more and more, you start off needing a lot of sticks then they get "stronger" and reveal themselves and you end up only needing 2.

These are the more premium daily sticks I mean, but Shoyeido's Daily Range hits instantly, you put 2 of them on and its like meeting an ol' buddy.

I just finished with the 4 sticks, I think I need to go back to 6 sticks for a while again or not use them for atleast 3 days as I think I may have used them too much? Is this possible? If you use an stick incense alot it will be less fragrant to your nose? Kinda like half nose blind lol.

Anyway I have 2.5ml of Ruh Khus Vetiver from India and it is a roll on, I shook the bottle up and down and put tons on head upper hands... ugh, beautiful. Nature is amazing!!!

Does this stick have synthetic or natural oils? NK is known for using synthetic chemicals quite a lot. I only have tried their morning star lavender, and it is very potent and perfumey, but I still dig it.

Is this the one you have? https://lotuszenincense.co.uk/produ...PoZoO74gYipaVUYAC3z-3ZvrtFyYjurwaAvd4EALw_wcB
These are the three I have. Tokusen Kyara Kayou, Kyara Asuka, and Kyara Heian. They are from the superior line, not the premium line.
I don’t know if there are synthetics in these sticks. They are not very strong in scent when unlit, but really shine when lit, I wonder if that suggests natural ingredients??

I agree that a heavy fragrance when not burned is a potential sign of aromachemicals or at least natural isolates. The exception being the aroma of borneo camphor which is very pungent.

Whatever shoyeido is doing is great but their sticks have to have some kind of additives - I suspect they use natural isolates, and perhaps some essential oils or resinoids. Baieido’s traditional sticks can give a sense of what un-augmented incense would smell like.

They actually admit to all of the above as well as utilizing synthetics in some of the cheaper sticks.

Glad to hear it. I believe i have smelled muscone or something similar in their cheaper sticks

I could believe they were all natural isolates if it weren’t for the musk. I don’t recall which stick, but it was one of the ones you commonly see in health food stores in the United States, like moss garden, autumn wind, daigen koh

Hmm. I would guess that means they are natural too if the scent before burn isnt too strong. But I have fully natural sticks that have a lot of smell pre burn as well. With the Japanese artisan incense you can never really know, they like to keep a lot of things secret lol, but some Japanese sticks that use oils dont use like petroleum based oils they use natural oils like we put on our hands and neck and stuff, not that nasty perfume stuff.

These Tensei sticks I have by Tennendo I think have just natural essential oils of the aloeswoods they are using, since it is a mix of different aloeswoods and I do think they use the essential oils of the basic aloeswoods they use, just to prop up the fragrance a bit and give it a wet impression, but I dont even think they use a lot because I need a good few sticks to smell them while doing stuff on my PC and the stick table is right next to me lol... they are daily incense, I call daily incense not something you use daily but sticks that arent too pricey and can be used while doing every day stuff and not on their own with a little ritual going on like you would with burning agarwood. I can actually say for 99% that they dont use petrol based perfumes, these are too nice for that.

I love whatever shoyeido does… i’m not repeating myself am i??

What cheaper stuff? I ordered Genroku in the Horin range by Shoyeido, they are 2.7inch sticks with AGED premium aloeswood and 20 sticks costs £17, do these have oils?
I think most of their sticks have essential oils/absolutes in them but the synthetics are reserved for their lower lines. The Horin range is a step below premium I believe so there’s no synthetics in those.
