I think most of their sticks have essential oils/absolutes in them but the synthetics are reserved for their lower lines. The Horin range is a step below premium I believe so there’s no synthetics in those.
Thank you. I just got the Horin and the Shoyeido Five Hills and White Clouds in and used 2 Horin in a session, they stay around for quite some time in the room and have a lovely earthy and creamy aloeswood scent with a lot of complexity.

I also went out to my local shop round the corner from me and bought a bunch of Satya sticks lol.. I love going back to basics sometimes and Satya, is my guilty pleasure. I got 7 boxes for £10. I have a Sandalwood one on the know and its great lol, but my favourite by Satya has to be their Musk and Nag Champa.

Yi-Xin Craft Incense: Devadaru - "Tiger In The Celestial Forest"
Once again, Ken's frankincense smells ultra fresh and sits front and centre here.
The cedar rescued from the fallen Stanford tree makes a nice pairing. A nice interplay spiralling with the hojari that fooled me for a second into thinking that there was sandalwood in this as well.

I think my nose is a bit off today because in a previous burn the Tigerwood was much more prominent than experienced here. It's adding a little support in the background, but maybe that spectrum of my sniffer is asleep today.

Regardless, enjoying the winter sun, this stick, and a small pot of an early first flush Jungpana from this year 😄

Jing Redsoil this morning.

Here is an interesting example of a 3,000 year old Japanese incense burner from the Jōmon culture. It is often repeated that Japan did not have awareness of incense before 538/595 CE.

Currently got some Shoyeido's White Clouds incense on the go. This was one of my first Japanese incense back when I was introduced to incense earlier in the year, and didn't really like it all that much, now that I have progressed quite a lot (like lightening speed lol since all my time is free time) I love this Daily Incense stick by Shoyeido. Now I can see why it is 14.95 a box instead of the normal 4.99 - 8.99. It also has aloeswood, but my guess would be a low quality, more white wood (but somehow the Japanese can make white wood smell amazing in a stick).

Was also burning some Five Hills from the Daily Range as well, which is the 2nd most expensive because it uses real Mysore Sandalwood (quality unknown).

First Incense of the day I went with Kotonoha Sandalwood by Seijudo, I go through multiple sticks a day usually. If anyoen can confirm what range the Kotonoha is in? That would be great. I think it is their basic, daily range, they also have an aloeswood stick in this range, under £40 on both of the boxes for 130 sticks. I quite like this sandalwood by them, it is quite a dry, basic, non Mysore Sandalwood, but it is an Indian Sandalwood. The dryness to me makes me sure it has no oils on it (even though natural oils are used even in Japanese sticks, they are natural oils like good essentials which isn't a bad thing, sometimes it can be a great thing, giving a wet, sexy impression on the stick, instead of actual synthetics or that nasty petroleum based stuff that is just perfume dipped). I know that synthetic essential oils are used in the entry level Indian sticks, "Satya", those are my guilty pleasure haha. With my favourite being Musk and Nag Champa, and tbh, while (ofc) one dimensional, I kinda like Satya's "Oodh".

I also had Seijudo today from Kikoh.

Seijudo Kyara Enju. Delicate smoke, but full of kynamic electricity.
Ohh, I wish LotusZenIncnese had these!!! Kikoh don't deliver to the UK 🙁 But I am awaiting on Tenpyo, Peaceful Sky, Horin range by Shoyeido, 2.76 inch sticks costing £34 with 20 of those sticks. I also ordered a batch of 6 sticks made with an unknown amount of old stock wild Kyara for £60. They come in tubes, and they are long and skinny like Japanese sticks (by the looks of it by picture) and the seller told me to break them up into quarters or halves, I am gonna break 3 into quarters and 3 into halves. Can not wait!!!

Echoing what Renton said, I'd love to check these out, is there anyway to contact the artisan outside of Instagram ?
