dehnal oudh hindi tripura - @mesOUD
The opening starts naturally with a almost neutral smell of wood.
Very quickly sweet notes emerge, at first it was not clear for me where it is going.
Then the scent of wood with tropical fruit nuances reveals itself.
The drydown stays sweet with hints of tropical fruit nuances.
The drydown reminds me a bit of Nagaland oudh that i have.
I think this is a nice Hindi to have in your collection, if you like to have some oudhs from different regions.
The price is also very affordable comparing to other places.

I’m wearing a smidge of CK alcohol extract paste I made a while back. Very close scent but very very pleasant. Would be great as part of an oud mixture or blend or if you enjoy the type of scent CK agarwood chips / beads / malas give off. Very paradoxical because it is so mild on the skin, but so intense when a dab is heated on the subitism.

Today I’ve swiped Ceylon Sapphire by Tabeer Oud I received this oil very generously with an order of Ruh Khus oil.

The scent is a nice, warm, and leathery. I get sugary fresh baked bread and a wonderful birch tar tanned leather with some sour fruits and also as strange as it sounds cinnamon I guess that’s from the fact it’s from Sri Lanka lol but yeah I get a light hint of Ceylon cinnamon.

Lovely stuff.

Maunamoku Balayong

It has a texture that reminds me of a Borneo or Clean Hindi oil, a bit fuzzy or staticky. It smells like kaffir lime leaves in the opening. There is a subtle tropical fruit note that shows up after a few minutes as the lime leaves settle down. There's a resinous base that smells Malaysian. I am looking forward to exploring this one more.

Puruk Caho Wild - @mesOUD

Opens mysteriously spicy and leathery.
This opening stays for a long time.
The opening have for me some similarities with the Sumbawa black.
A sweet, spicy,amber-like dry-down
Yes MashaAllah you noticed well dear brother
Puruk caho
Both sumbawas

Checking out a Kalimantan berou sample from Mesoud today. This are my second impressions as I wore it once before.

First this is another oil that features a certain note that to me is the archetypal oud scent. A certain bitter sweetness which reminds me of chips on a subitism when the wood starts to darken after the top notes fades. I love this aspect of oud.

The opening is quite nice and has some notes that are new to me. I can’t think of how to describe this unique top note… echoes of frankincense or zdravets - not a syrupy top note - kind of vibrant/ herbal/ salty note and something that brings an old Sumatra oil of mine to mind. There is also a bit of sweetness in the topnote that I have encountered in crassna oils.

Still learning regional profiles - but I think i would have guessed Borneo or Sumatra if I was asked to guess. Has elements of my oils from both regions, but that bittersweet hot wood note really seems consistent with kalimantan.

This is an oil i would want to collect given the opportunity. Seems like the kind to age well.

I’d be really interested to hear other peoples’ impressions who may have smelled this oil, and how it’s profile relates to other oils in your collection.

Also a swipe of bulungan N kalimantan- top note reminds me of opium poppy sap! More on this one later…

Wow just reading the latest posts, I need step up my game! Great job describing these oils!

@Mr.P i recently swiped the Berou myself and was immediately impressed myself. I didn't write down my thoughts yet but recall a very positive response while my focus was on my studies. I'll have to spend time and focus on it next.
Hi
I sent Berau to several friends as sample, still didn't release it and this is really a very special oil

Today I’ve swiped Viet Trang by ASO.

Lovely cultivated Vietnamese oil.

I get ripe fruits and sweet resins with a slightly damp green facet much like green leaves and right at the dry down sweet incense and peppercorns.

Beautiful simply beautiful.

Thank you @Al Shareef Oudh for the samples 🙂.
I received a couple of mystery samples with my recent ASO purchase. Two vials labeled “ONE” and “TWO”. I swiped “ONE”…..
It reminds me of Ensar’s Encens D’Angkor and Oud Mostafa 5, we’re talking vintage scent, succulent Cambodi, nothing over ripe or new generation. I like this style.

And @Maunamoku got this sample as well, all three are the same oil. Viet Trang, amazing oil, bang for your buck.

Yes I received it. Thank you

Very hard to describe! Salty. A little piercing. Smells also a bit like frankincense and wood on the heater. There’s a hint of leather in the background.

I just wrote a short review of this on oud of the day and it my reaction was quite similar… I get the salt, I can see why frankincense comes to mind. Have to smell it again - I like this one for sure.

I can't even imagine what salt smells like. I have never understood the 'salty' note in any fragrance that is supposed to have it.

Maunamoku - Ceylon Pinnacle

Nothing super special or surprising about it, but it's good Silani oil.

Ensar Oud - Kyara Ketone

Also a Silani oil, but very unique. I wouldn't even recognize it as Silani oil if Ensar didn't tell me where is came from. Smells like the price.
