EO - Satori fusho
This is a special thai organic oud. It starts transparent, clear, sweet and slightly bitter (the tea aspect). It gets more clear but also more of the typical thai sweetness with a green hint. I fell asleep and couldnt follow till drydown but it smelled amazing when I woke up. I have to try it again.

@Faizal_p - Borneo Bliss

This oil is very addictive. It has the creamy woody smell similar to Mysore sandalwood that is present in lots of Malinau oils, and it's probably the best I have smelled in this way. Very thick and satisfying. It isn't a perfumey ethereal scent like many Borneo oils are, but there is a sort of incense smoke scent underneath the creaminess. It was distilled only a month or two ago, so I am waiting to see how it ages over the next few months to a year.

I can't recommend this one enough. It's one of the few oils that I bought 3g of.
Based on my IO experience I am not at all surprised to see more evidence that Faisal is an oud sommelier extraordinaire.

Ensar Oud - Port Moresby

Very interesting and engaging. It seems very complex, like there is a lot to discover. Notes keep floating in and out of my perception in a way that seems impossible. It’s hardly green to my nose, but there is some here. To me, it feels like several shades of blue grounded by an earthy core. The most persistent and noticeable note is a greyish powdery blue tied to the earth, with an oceanic breeze and a sharp sapphire blue that show up occasionally.

It’s good.

"WAZIR ALGHABA" (2017)

Not a "branded" oil.
wild Aquilaria agallocha AND malaccensis.
Regions: Burma & Jayapura (kinam wood)
Honestly a really weird and rare mix.

The agallocha shines much more through but the kinamic kick of the Jayapura is definitely more in the opening present and underlines the oil with earthy notes. Dark. woody. dry fruits. moss.... a stuffy FOREST with moisture and diversity.
Great oil.

I’m in the drydown now and it is still revealing more layers. I smelled it indoors at comfortable room temp and it smelled a lot like OG Oud Royale from Ensar. Then I got into a hot car and it turned into a smoky resinous scent like some vintage oils have.

Sproaty it's that time of year.. put your heating on!
It's consistently like that TBH. I'll put a pic up later.
And, no! I put my heating on once last year after I thought my boiler was broken but I'd accidentally turned it off 😂 That cost me £80 in a call-out charge. I only pay £35/month for gas and electric 🙂

Do you find it to be particularly green and cooling in profile ?
I think there’s a little bit of cooling effect, and some green also. Not as much as some other Siem Reap oils I’ve had from Ensar.

I wasn’t looking for it and I didn’t really think about it, so I’m just going off memory. There might be more than I remember if I swipe it again with that in mind.

To me, the stand-out notes were more mineralic and a tad bitter. Some vanilla like primal said.

If you’re in the US, I can send you my free sample. I already don’t plan to buy it. It will only cost me a dollar or two to ship.

Thank you for the detailed description James! I think I'll pass on this one, I was basing my interesting on the description on the website, and upon hearing what Pr1mal thought I just had to ask. I feel like descriptions occasionally highlight extremely nuanced aspects of the profile, but then again, it's not easy describing scents to oneself, let alone others!

It’s impossible to capture a scent in words. You have to smell for yourself. People looking for words to describe Indian fermented oud make it sound much worse than it is.

But yeah, I’d say it’s a solid benchmark wild Cambodian oud for a good price. It sounds like Ensar will have similar oils in the future from the same region. As he mentions in the description, he has a distillery there dedicated to northern Cambodi oils. He released one some months ago simply called “Siem Reap” and it was way better in my opinion. If he releases another iteration of Siem Reap then I would recommend getting some. It’s probably closer to what you had in mind for Siemmarat.

Today I wore Cambodi Exquisite by Faizal, and Cambodi Vintage (2002) from Imperial Oud. Wow, 2 different oils here. The vintage in dark and dense. I applied this over 14hrs ago and can still smell it, it's super thick and left a huge oily patch on the back of my hand. The Exquisite....well, I dunno. After a few hours its scent was gone. Wasn;t the usual yellowed fruit 'bodi though. Will need to wear again (this was my 2nd time) - I guess both times I've been quite underwhelmed by it.

I'll edit this post now with pictures of the Viet Zephyr as mentioned above. I called it 'jellied' - which is what US folk tend to call 'jam' (same with our crisps/chips!)
