Thai Khiao by SULAYM. Amazing plantation oud oil. Starts off with a really camphor, minty, green, vegetated, herbal, rainforest note that the camphor makes it feel quite damp and rainy, as that is what is pictured in my head, a rainforest that is, of course, rainy and damp. Camphor notes and mintiness sticks around for a while, as it unveils agarwood and agarwood burning notes here and there, with a bitter-sweet scent, almost sour semi-sweetness too. The closer you get to the 2 hour mark the more agarwoody it gets, and smokey it gets. After 2 or so hours it becomes fully agarwood note as if you a burning some on your hand and the camphor makes some impressions here and there as if the camphor note never truly went away, but the minty sharpness has, as well as the green jungle notes/feel. Then you are left with an agarwood note and agarwood, oudy, smokey note. I have had this on 5 hours it is still potent, nice and sweet now instead of bitterness (with some bitterness remaining, but more sweet) and a wood note like cedarwood, and agarwood and agarwood smokiness as if you are burning some as incense.

Absolutely well done oil by @SULAYM !!!

It is linear, but I didn't understand it the first few times I used it, I am starting to be able to understand this oil more and more, and loving it the more I try it!!!

Oriscent Oud Royale 2
Oriscent Royal Kinam 1.

RK1 reminds me of Nha Trang LTD. The opening of NTLTD to be precise. That medicinal bitter opening. Only that it lasts much longer in RK. Has a sweet brown sugar facet to it. Not overly complex but very good. Like most old EO/Oriscent oils, it has that depth and trademark I've never smelled with other oils.
OR2 is one I need to wear more to get a better understanding of it. Has a nice aquamarine, green, floral lightness about it, and yet feels so deep, like a black hole. Both these oils are full-bodied, they feel heavy yet smell light. A contrast that perplexes me. Strong performers as well.
I need to get some Pinoy LTD as well to compare with OR 2 and to further educate my nose on the Philippino/cumingiana profile.

purple cola / berries / jell-o

if you told me this was a tree before i started sniffing things i woulda been scratching my head... smells like a fruit or a flower of some kind. its got just a tad of citrus bite too that makes this dark dark (nearly black) oil so bright 🌞

Prachinburi, 21' Thai Crassna
My fav thai profile and an oil for everyone and any time of day

So far the prachin oils i have seen have been dark like this. Is this due to local production methods or something in crassna grown there?

Prachinburi and chantaburi
Both are different than general crassnas
They have a tobacco, slight leathery and touch of sour berries profile different than rest of thai crassnas

Dab of Mesoud Vietking. Short review: spicy! Interesting! Intense! Sometimes I think Mesoud you are a little bit crazy to sell these so quickly after distillation. I feel like this has improved just over the time that I’ve had it (or else I have learned to tune into its scent a little better). And when you apply this stuff, it just keeps getting better and better over time as it evaporates.

OK, maybe not such a short review… I have more to say

This oil is so deceptive, because on the one hand it has that intense pungent note that I often see with fresh crassna oils, and that really grabs your attention… but if I sniff delicately and just light whiffs i get this “screaming with potential” intuitive hit that I don’t get with any other crassnas I have smelled. The balance of soft kinamic (?) minty confectionery notes and scintillating burbling cambodian smoke type notes is lovely… really unique. And as it develops on the skin, that pungency fades and transforms and begins to be perceived differently- goes into the “bleached white wood vanillin burbling resiny cambodi” zone pretty quickly, and that is just so f#%king unbelievably pleasant that I feel like an expletive is needed. I think the path it will take is it matures is pretty evident when you sniff it.

So I have a few drops of this… on one hand what I really want to do is mix it with my nicest cultivated kinam oil and stash that away to smell a few years down the line; I feel like a small amount of this mixed in with a mild minty CK oil would just be mind blowing and make the ck smell somehow more like ck.(?). I feel like I could take a 1/4tola bottle of CK and make it into this amazing fragrance with just a little bit of this.

on the other, I know the right thing to do is let this sit in pure form for five years and see how it ages on its own. This is the path I will take because I can learn some thing about oud in general by watching this mature. I’m not sure how often opportunities like this present themselves because it is not really possible for me to purchase oils or full samples on this tier given my finances.

Mesoud, thanks for chance to sniff this beauty.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
İ totaly agree with being crazy Mr.P
Let me tell
İ am selling chips (which i distilled Vietking) at my store to 9$/gr means 9.000$/kg
And if i ask 4$ or 5$ for same wood, today in same second can sell to any vendor or wholesaler.
But what i did is:İ distilled it(about 30 days) took risks, paid too much effort etc and in the end of the day i offered 650$/ gram for this oil which is equal to 3500-4000$/ kg wood price
İ only asked wood price, normally if i think as a professional,650$/gram is onşy wood cost of this oil+ may be about 150-200$/ gr labor, gas, etc etc i spent for it,its cost can be 800-900$/gr
And sure need some profit.
Also must be crazy for selling this oil, when it is young, because as you said,6 months later it will be very very different than current situation.
BUT:This is an art my friend and i want people whom trust to my art and buying a young oil too, because of it,i am offering with this price, because i think people whom trust to my art and potential of works, They deserve this gesture. So i am not only crazy, iam also looking for crazy people to buy from me 🤣🤣🤣😂🤣
Also a man with a fat wallet, whom only looking for feeling himself special or royal, cant buy my oils with his money.
This is why i offer my special works firstly to this community with special discounted prices
And this is why i like and see it as a honor to share my distillations with people, whom really has a taste but cant afford

Well, more advice that you don’t need, but hey advice is easy to give… and you are probably way ahead of me here, you likely do something along these lines already : I really think it makes sense to stash a tola or a half tola or a gram even of the oils you yourself distill along with a specimen of wood large enough to learn from (a few grams I guess). Put them in a little cardboard jewelry box write the date and name on it (and any details on a little paper slip inside) and stick it in a vault or cabinet.

The value of an archive like that is huge (I don’t mean financially, but of course, it would have great monetary value as well). You can relive them and learn from them yourself, there’s also a huge instructional value in case anyone you come to know or anyone in your family develop a love. Depending on how your collection grows, it might be possible to offer small decants of the matured oil, at a market price, and get compensation for all of that time and energy you invested.

I’ve got a little box like that… not my own creations if course, just those ouds that I consider to more or less be heirlooms. I’m sure many/most here have their treasure boxes and can relate to the wonderful scent that fills and saturates the wood of the box. I keep things pretty tightly sealed up, of course, but I don’t generally wash the cap threads with alcohol etc..

In your (extensive) experience, does Vietnamese wild crassna' have more of a sweet berry note? Most crassna I have interacted with have been a red berry and malaccensis is can either be dark or light purple, and sometimes red, but different from crassna berry. Vietnam crassna red berry is more semi-sweet.

EDIT: When I say semi-sweet, I mean sweet/sour, but I have also gotten sweet/sour, "semi - sweetness" from some malaccensis. This wild Pahang oil from @Habz786, "Zamarad 2", is very complex to me and very non linear and when I was wearing it today I was getting some of that semi-sweetness, but also full sweetness as well.
