Just curious, do you experience your skin getting a bit flaky after applying too much oud? I would love to apply a tiny dot where you applied it, but I'm afraid of the 'flaky skin after effect'. :Roflmao: (My wrists are suffering from this, which prevents me from applying oud year round)
Maybe u can try applying some scentless moisturizer? It may help.

Anyone tried to put a tiny dot of oud just beneath their nose tip and above the upper lip? Well, I don't smell anything so I guess my nose went "hell noooo". I can smell it on the back of my hand, but only if I sniff it up close. I went too far. A wasted dot of Kannan Koh before bed😔.
I tried couple days ago and that was not the first time for me. I was able to smell it for a short time compared to the nape area where I enjoy the most. The wrist and nape generally last longer and if you are using some high end oils, upper lip area is surely a no go.

No. Never had that issue. I find the best way to apply it around the neck are to enjoy going out is on the jaw bone line, right underneath it. It doesn't overwhelm my nose. But most of the time I apply it on my wrists and sniff it up close.
I use the jawbone area for attars. It’s a lovely spot for getting that incidental whiff of heaven.

I guess we get desensitized quickly when the scent is up close , that’s why it’s best to apply away from the nose. I found the Complex/high quality ouds are the ones I get quickly desensitized after application , no matter where I apply them. AA oils are notorious for this.

Cambodia classic by MesOUD - cultivated aq crassna distillation 2021
It opens up sweet woody and slightly zesty, zero animalic barnyard, very slight fermented balsamic. Quickly transitions to a sweet profile, think of a red berry jam. The dry down keeps the sweetness that gives way to slight hints of sweet hay. A great oud that can be enjoyed daily without putting a hole in your wallet

I've tried swiping around my face before going on a bike ride, only problem is my helmet's straps lay across the ideal places to actually swipe (under chin, under ears)
I always wear it on the back of my hands but I wear gloves because if I crash I don't wanna wreck my hands, plus it's cold!
I'll be going for a spin soon, I'll experiment with a dab of oud below my lip. I figure above the lip is probably too close to my nose and would get overwhelmed with having the smell so close and always "accessible"

I used to spray fragrance on my neck but I always go under my shirt now for the same principle.

For my bike ride I wore Assam Imperial by An Najwa on one side of my chin and on the other was Hindi 2007 by The Oud Lab
There was one brief moment where I could smell them but they weren't wafting up to my nose as I expected. I was riding pretty fast and it was brutally windy (a road cyclist's no. 1 enemy, well...except cars, maybe).
AI is a new-gen style Indian oil, and the Hindi is much more traditional, except not overly barny and I was curious to see how these would 'blend' in the air together.
The thing about applying to where I did is that if you can't smell it then you can't do anything about it - on your hands your can bring them to your nose
booo. Lesson learned, I guess

it was a gift to all of the creatures that happened to wander into your path…

Al Hareer by HabzOud - I am starting to actually love this oil. I used to never like the opening/top notes, and even some of these notes carrying onto the heart, but the "desi butter" or "ghee" note I have started to appreciate it being a pungent sweetness, a buttery, somewhat creamy pungent agarwood sweetness that I am starting to really like and appreciate. The more it develops it becomes sweeter and sweeter, and some powderiness to it too. There is some notes of really nice tobacco, and even some nice quality cigar notes, with sometimes having a subtle smokiness to it. Eventually the note you smell the most (I am 3 hours into this now), for me anyway, is a slight sweetness of the remaining desi, with a bright smell of Nagaland wood and its resin and some balsamic notes. I have experienced good quality Nagaland wood and it smells very similar, it even has notes of the resin coming out of that particular wood. I know it is also made with another Indian region of wood, Meghalaya, but I haven't smelled that raw in wood form so it may be there, but I cant exactly pick it out?

Overall, this oil is growing on me, and I am starting to love it.
and yes the notes are very silky, like cashmere.

Kalimantan Berau from MesOud - Aquilaria Malaccensis - Indonesia from sampler pack
At initial swipe this greets you with earthy aroma of aged, creamy, very slight spicy wood. As the fragrance settles a pleasant mustiness reminiscent of a traditional bathhouse, the water heated by crackling wood outside, emerges, which makes this oud so comforting and intriguing. The smell fills the room quiet quickly, just applying it to the wrist and I am getting whiffs.

I tried this oud for the third time within 2 month period before writing anything and my notes remain pretty much the same. The first time I tried it in my notes I wrote some citrusy zest, which I was not able to get on my second and third try. After 10 hours I was still getting gentle whiffs, and after showering I can still smell it the next day, though only when I put my nose to my skin.

I realized I have special preference for Aq. Malaccensis, Filaria, and Microcarpa. I am not sure what it is that is so alluring or if they have lots of molecules in common. This one is definitely a bottle worthy for me. @mesOUD I don't know how your stock is on this one. I did tell myself no buying for some time but you are making it difficult not to.

I share your preferences as far as species go, and also had a little bit of this oil at one point and it was quite nice. Like you i find it’s a little bit challenging to see all the good things folks keep offering here because I am trying very hard to curtail extra spending right now.

trat classic is sweet and sour and fruity and delightful. like if aquilaria crassna had a "best of" album this would be one of the first three tracks

Wore HM Purple Malay for a Vivaldi Quattro Stagioni Concerto this evening. It really, really hit the spot. Still getting to know this oil. I noticed it has some of that medicinal, resinous, cocoa flavored quality Tigerwood Royale has, without the musky, smoky, gauze facets. More poised and with that powdery violet bouquet. Such a great oil.
