I need to wear seven hills from Mesoud a few more times to be able to write A review but for me it is a really complex oil which can pull you in lots of different directions of smells, that’s what I actually love about it! I can understand being not sure about it until you have had a chance to pay attention to it As I at this stage of this oil i feel you have too be able to pay attention which would be very difficult at work! I love the uniqueness of it for me definitely a one of a kind oil! Can’t imagine it is possible to reproduce this one! when I spent the day with it I really saw and was quite excited about the potential of. What this oil will become!
Yes i think that is the right approach, give yourself the time to experience an oil and enjoy the moment.
It happened more then ones to me, that I did not immediately have a connection with an oil or perfume, but later it became my favorite.
Scent is emotion, perhaps your emotional state at that moment (unconsciously) favors a certain scent more and you therefore unconsciously do not embrace a beautiful oil at that moment.

this is a warm mix. like golden straw and leather, but then theres a blast of lactic fruit that really makes this fun because it showcases some really good qualities of two different oudhs

i really like blends
I find this mix very pleasant as it incorporates the notes from various Hindi oils. It has that perfumey top not at the beginning (if I remember correct that was the Tripura oil) mixed with some animalic to balance it, then with a wonderful sweet hay dry down. Unfortunately for me Hindi oils are not for everyone, I can only enjoy them when alone otherwise the complaints start 😔

Bulungan from MesOud - (Wild from North Kalimantan Indonesia - Aquilaria Malaccensis 2023)
An absolute gem that straight from the bottle opens with clean wet soil and quickly gives into citrusy sweet tones with slight cola. When you think it was already smelling amazing, after 2 hours it gets even better with some wood notes that balance out the citrus. The citrus makes me think of the smell you would get from a cold glass of sprite, but so natural, I can keep smelling it and it is never overpowering and I can't get enough. Not overpowering is an important description for this oud, it is long lasting but the whiffs you get are always gentle.

Received Faizal's package with the SQ Purple Malay while at the office. Couldn't resist and put a tiny drop inside my surgical mask.
Firstly, wow, I just discovered a new way to enjoy oud oils. The tiniest drop at the level of my lips inside the mask gives me a cloud of aroma to indulge in without bothering the patient. Pretty much having my own oud bubble. I will try this again with other oils. Wish I knew this during the COVID era🤦🏻‍♂️.
Second, I am so glad I purchased 6 grams of this. It is indeed a lovely oil. Super clean, smooth, velvety almost with a vivid purple hue and slightly green nuances. Not very sweet or honeyed, more like violet floral sweet. Like smelling a bouquet of violets. Soft and delicate. I would say in the aesthetic of Oud Sultani but not as resinous, honey sweet and golden, also not as loud or majestic. More restrained, with the volume turned down. For the money, this is an exceptional oil, no doubt.

I'm giving up on describing oils by means of comparison/association. I often lack the verbiage and it annoys me not being able to express myself how I want to. (yes, so not even trying is the right way to fix that, right Sproat? [yes I'm talking to myself right now])

Al Hind Oud - Firdous. Stunning Sri Lankan, and it's still young! This will become absolutely amazing no doubt. Comparable to Imperial Oud's Ceylone Royale which is my benchmark SL oil

Mesoud - 7 hills. Wearing it at home now and spending more time smelling it. It's good! Weirdly doesn't actually come across as "oudy". I can't pick out any region's profile jumping out, it's merged into just this smooth smell that I can't compare to anything. Not sweet, not fruity, no colours come to mind.

I might take a 1-2 week break from any sort of fragrance or incense shortly. I wear a spray fragrance daily and usually 1-2 ouds at the least, and have been often burning at least one incense a day
I could do with giving myself a "reset" - it's something that I've done previously but from memory it didn't actually make any difference to my smell perception, so it may be pointless 🤣

SULAYM - Thai Khiao.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day

An amazing cultivated oil, IMO. Opening notes of a dark, jungle that is damp, wet and rainy, camphor and menthol notes that made the scent crystal clear (even after the noticeability of it was... almost gone), with a very woody note, and some sour, almost quite pungent bitter notes. Vegetation all around, quite herbal. After around an hour the camphor quietened down quite a bit, as well as the menthol notes, but they were still quite heavy, not too long (under an hour later) the menthol-ness was a soft, round(ed) mintiness, with agarwood notes, mixed berries, namely black berry, with a good bit of blueberry and a hint (but still quite strong when it came out) of soft, well rounded red and purple berry notes. Sweet (or perhaps, "semi-sweet") fruitiness as well that cut through the bitterness of the jungle, the bitterness was also pleasurable (so please dont think I said that note in a bad or off putting way). Cola and fizzy cola notes were also present every time I took fast short inhales one after another as well as a core agarwood base (something I didn't mention is that when I did this at the start I got slight notes of cheese, kind of like the HM Royal Malay, but in a less noticeable way, and for both of those oils, cheese isn't exactly a bang on word for it, and that "cheese" note turned into a cola note, I think it was actually a very strong camphor note that mimicked the cheese-like smell). The cola notes started to become quite prominent but not as prominent as a pure Malaysian oil, like Zamarad 2, but were definitely there in amongst the jungle semi sweet bitter notes of the jungle and fruits. After 3 hours I am onto the last base note into the dry down, the more I smell it at this point the less I am able to perceive it, but if I leave it for like 30-45 mins I will most likely be able to smell the dry down, but from what I can smell is the cola note is quite prominent along side a SWEET note with just some pure agarwood note base.

Its quite cool how this oil (from my perspective) goes from greenery, camphoric, super sharp menthol bitterness, into a slight greenery, sweet/semi-sweet mixed berry, fruity notes at the mid to end.

Lovely oil, and even though it is described as linear, it is actually more non-linear than you would think. Or maybe I am just picking up more notes as I use it.

Oh, and forgot to put in, that there was some leather notes way in the distant.

I need to put my nose to it.

Anyone tried to put a tiny dot of oud just beneath their nose tip and above the upper lip? Well, I don't smell anything so I guess my nose went "hell noooo". I can smell it on the back of my hand, but only if I sniff it up close. I went too far. A wasted dot of Kannan Koh before bed😔.
I prefer the tip of the nose, it is less overwhelming

Just curious, do you experience your skin getting a bit flaky after applying too much oud? I would love to apply a tiny dot where you applied it, but I'm afraid of the 'flaky skin after effect'. :Roflmao: (My wrists are suffering from this, which prevents me from applying oud year round)

No. Never had that issue. I find the best way to apply it around the neck are to enjoy going out is on the jaw bone line, right underneath it. It doesn't overwhelm my nose. But most of the time I apply it on my wrists and sniff it up close.
