Ko chang @mesOUD

Opens sweet, mixed with the scent of dry leaves, yet juicy at the same time.
Then gradually sweeter with hints that remind me of a sweet/ (light)sour green apple.
Drydown is sweet and slightly resinous, but at the background.
A fairly unique Thai oil that everyone should try at least once because of its distinctive character.
It has incorporated the tropical characteristics of the island where it comes from.

[Ouddict.com] Oud of the Day
Thaqeel S -The oud lab
A very nice Thai oil.

Oriscent Borneo 3000 to compare with Jinkoh Store Emperor Maluku. Indeed, very similar. Both are beautiful.

Mes Oud Vietking I feel this oil needs more time. It's a bit stuffy like it's hiding its notes from me. Needs more time to come together. It's a good Viet oil. Solid. I like that it has a nice woody aroma, is clean, a bit powdery in the opening, not overly sweet or bitter, and has this red fruit and spice facet to it. Then I read it was Crassna and not Sinensis and it made sense. Compared to the other Viet oils that I own, it's not as vaporous, bitter, and heavy-bodied as the Oriscents, not as high vibrancy and crystal clear as Taha's VSK and KKN, nor as complex and clear as Nha Trang U. Yet it's a great oil, and will satisfy anyone looking for a good Viet in today's market.

Jinkoh Store Brunei Qi , just love this one. Now that Spring is here I find myself having more skin to swipe on, meaning more oils per day lol.

You mean the OG borneo 3000?

Pursat Batch 2 - Rising Phoenix

On my latest order with RPP, JK included a sample of this. A pleasant surprise… for a very competitive price you can get a really awesome full-spectrum oud with a vaporous quality that radiates a fresh herbal/spicy/minty above a dark oudy and fruity classic Pursat .

The opening greets you with some sour fermented notes and grape-skin notes that quickly burn off to reveal a sweetness. Notes of wine gums, some spicy clove-like notes bridge the gap between the tart and terpinic opening and the exceptional crassna drydown. If I was looking for a “daily oud” this would be a strong contender.

very difficult to describe - but imagine a clear sky - not blue or grey - just clear with absolute nothingness and all of a sudden you see purple birds above you head flying in straight lines towards a central point and you fear they will collide - they do and it suddenly starts raining. you are not getting water droplets but it's some soft of soft vanillin globules which are warm and have purple hues through and through. Are they flower petals curled up ? No. But they smell slightly floral with subtle sweetness.
Somehow from the get go, there is a subtle smokiness like a very low burning of wood which gels up every nuance perfectly.
Purple Kinam oud write up, by Albert Hoffman:

" my first oud swipe on LSD"

I recently tried ASO's Modhesh and it turned anything I thought knew about the region (Borneo) and the subregion (Malinau), on its head!

The first wearing I got clean, black leather treated with pine resin. I have some resins I collected from a pine in my backyard, they have this aggressiveness to them, not citrus like or minty but with a hint of burnt brown sugar.

During my next wearing I started noticing an inverted scent pyramid, something I also encountered in A'meen. Again I was getting the black resin treated leather, but as if sitting right underneath that I was getting a sweet citrus like aroma coupled with the scent of freshly cut bamboo, green but not juicy, more stem like, but only discernable upon application, not from the applicator. Then I started getting a labdanum like incense-y, slightly vanillic nuance to the scent. And all of this was coming out within successive sniffs, and often at different inhalation levels of the same sniff!

How it was applied drastically changed the scent's development, applying tiny dots and letting them spread out naturally, to dabbing them altered the progression of the scent, evening bring certain notes out in varying degrees. The dry down felt like my arm had a built-in bakhoor burner, this incredibly intoxicating incense was wafting to me as I moved my arms, I was lost wearing it. Try it for post Fajr dhikr, trust me you'll not regret it!

Highly recommend anyone who's interested in the region to check Modhesh out, @Mousse de Chene recommended it to me, and not only was I not displeased, it shattered even the highest expectations I had! All through the wearings I couldn't help but think "How did ASO pack so much depth into a single oud oil ?"
I’m very pleased to hear you enjoy Modhesh brother! I recommended it to you because I know you enjoy these special old school oils with lots of resinous oomph!
In recent times, I’ve reached for it over mostly every other Oud oil in my collection, it’s a very comfortable daily oil while also being refined & complex.

I loved reading your description, I also sense the clean black leather & a fresh green camphor jungle element, but there’s also a pleasant underlying vanilla-berry sweetness. Anise-Liquorice. The part about having an in built Bakhoor burner in your arm made me laugh at the image, but it’s true. The most divine wafts of Royal incense!

When I wear Modhesh I imagine this is how VIPs in the GCC smelt of in times of old.

Emperor of Pursat - Jinkoh Store.

A pristine sparkling wild Cambodi distilled via the Jinkoh store aesthetic. The sheerness of new gen oils aren’t usually my preferred style, but when Crassna woods are processed in this manner they reveal the true beauty of the Oud resin/oil.

Signature Crassna fruits, cherry, almond-marzipan, florals, honey, aniseed. Sweet, yet juxtaposed by a beautiful kinamic Sinensis-like bitterness. I don’t perceive the concept of ‘mind buzz’ but if I did this oil would surely affect me as such. One of my very favourites.

Sadly I don’t have 3 arms, because I want to swipe them all together!
Thank you Yusa for these generous samples!

Naphung Khao Yai - what a lovely oil! I think this one will be wearable even among non-oud lovers. It is also really syrupy, allowing me to cover my wrist in a nice blob of this oil.
I can’t find this oil anywhere on @YusaAromatics site, so I’m wondering if this is a new oil?

Huian ko - This is something else. I had to double check whether this is truly a Cambodian, as I have never smelled anything like this. I do get the GREEN apple/watermelon rind, freshness, but it’s not just that. I think I need lots of time to understand this one.
