Kinabalu Gold 1 - Sabah. I think aging made it more superior. Since morning I sniffed it not less than 100 times on my wrist.

I can relate to that ha ha

Rising Phoenix Perfumery - Naharani Seufi

A pure oud oil from RPP. This is a Hindi-style oud made with Seufi chips which is a certain type of agarwood formation which occurs in the branches of aquilaria trees.

Moments after applying you get the strong umami kick of fermentation. This subsides after a minute or two and leaves notes of leather, a bitter clove bite and salted caramel.

a few hours I get quite a pure resiney sweetness with milky black tea, notes of tobacco and tilled earth. I wore this while drinking some tea and the two really played off of each other. I could also see blending this with a sandalwood or patchouli (as it has an earthy aroma that can also be found in patchouli)

After around 4 hours (and well into my 7th hour of wear now) I get notes of ambergris, cocoa powder, warm cream and myrrh.

This is an oil that I think would be amazing for layering. Not because it’s not amazing on its own but just because of the inspiration I had while drinking tea and wearing this oil. Only negative I’d have to point out about these Hindis from JK is that you just have to try them all to figure out which ones you like the most… and I guess the good news is that, if you like the Hindi profile, you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Purple Malay - a very smooth and pristine oil. It feels like a purple crystal to me. Gives me summery vibes in the opening and then gradually takes me to winter evening. Top quality stuff.

Ps - I kept getting wafts which reminded me of OR1 and sometimes Dokusan. Maybe, I mean maybe Dokusan and this was distilled in the same space.

Maroke Qadeem - Habzoud

More like scent of the week, I’ve been swiping it at least once a day for the past week.

One oil I'll always regret not pulling the trigger on.

There is definitely overlap with OR1. Purple Malay has the same resinous base just more purple and bright

HM Sultan Qaboos Burmese from @SULAYM

This oil feels like it's from another age. Not sure what species this would be... crassna? it is old and dignified, not a trace of spazzy youthful notes or unsettled pungency. Smells like it was distilled by the same outfit as the "early release hm oud" Royale oriscent got their hands on in the 00's (or if not from the same distiller, hand picked by somebody with a similar aesthetic).

Smells sooo good and I would love to know what combination of factors go into producing oil with this kind of presence. Maybe it's just high quality stuff and lots of time. Mesoud (along with the rest of you all doing / commissioning these insane distillations of lifetimes' worth of incense grade wood) no doubt are working it out as i type this

Currently my favourite oud from the HM collection. Deep, resinous incense. Leaves a trail of oud wherever you go. I reserve it for Friday prayers. Probably the best opening of any oud I have come across with notes of purple fermented blackcurrant (I like blackcurrant) drying down to a deep wood, hay and henna base.

Part of me tells me that OR1 was maybe a co distillation of the Malay wood used for Purple Malay with Burmi or high quality Maroke found in the Sultans atelier. When I first tried Purple Malay I remember checking my OR1 from @Faizal_p to see the similarities. It’s the crystalline note that triggered it.

This is nha trang pure satisfaction for those who are looking for a slightly traditional nha trang oud oil. On application you get the traditional soaking aroma but it is not animalic and pretty smooth, which is always a good combination (Usually comes from aging or a high quality wood that was soaked from my small experience). It has the beautiful sweet bitter nha trang interplay and dark resinous and fruity touches. It zooms into the red color spectrum after the opening with these resinous fruits that arent as sweet as in a cambodi oil. Whenever there is a facet I enjoy, my nose focuses on it and it kinda blends out the green zesty facets present too.
From 1st sniff I could not tell it is a cultivated oil & I read the description and story only after I applied and enjoyed it for a while. Really good nha trang cultivated oil & a bargain for the price. I smelled a (wild) Nha Trang oil from almost every vendor on this forum and outside (Nha trang ltd/Ultima/GENT/Vintage Viet Royale/King K Nam) and this may not go to this kinamic/kyara style but I see myself swiping it daily or on special occasions 😋

This one is a special one too. Pure sinensis smell on application, nutty and honey facets with rich orange aroma. It also possess the minty, spicy and vaporous aroma of Cultivated Kinam (I tried a bunch of Ck wood and oils/CO2 extractions but I am not experienced in wild kyara to comment about similarities). It is for sure more rich, deep and complex than any ck oil.
If Oranges would have a kinam quality version, it would smell like this oil 🍊 On deep inhalation it goes up to your brain, call it mindbuzz 🧠⚡️

@Al Shareef Oudh Was ck part of the distillation? This is what I understood from the text and would explain the overlaying facets

Sulaym - SQ Burmi 1979

First wear today. Will make a proper review after a few wears.

Also, have an first impressions video here showing my latest order from Sulaym.

Excited to talk about all of this stuff over the next few weeks. I will say if you’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on the Ghaliya that it is at least worth sampling. I’m not going to say whether it’s worth blind-buying a full gram until I’ve given it a full day’s wear.

The original malek al ceeni was a very pleasant surprise for me for a couple of reasons - the memory is fading but there was something to the "envelope" of the scent that reminded me of this one oud gem i had missed the chance to buy back in the 00's but had nursed a tiny sample of for way too long. I had pretty much given up hope of encountering that specific profile again so it was a big surprise for sure
