Well being from Kuwait and growing up with Burmi oud of all grades i beg to differ with you View attachment 42184
Absolutely you can. That's purpose of the this forum i believe.

I can also show my oud collection which is quite nice. I just expressed my opinion based on my experience. There are many reasons why oud oils may differ if they are from the same region but i will leave that to the oud experts.

However, for example, when an oud oil gives you that top fermented wood note and you cannot go beneath that top note that's when in my opinion something is a miss. With all honesty when i also sampled kabaah 1990, I immediately remembered the stuff they use to sell outside the Mosk.

Again, please enjoy your ouds and fragrance as that's what matters.
Regards to All

Fair enough. It’s your opinion and review and you paid money for the oils and entitled to your opinion. Welcome to the forum!
I honestly don't mean to promote or demote any brand, I wanted to share my opinion and experience. As I have mentioned, i have tried many types and vendors and due to my prior experience i gave MY thoughts.
Regards to All

We (at least I) entertain opinions, not claims (without proof)

I am referring to his personal preferences. If he doesn’t like the oils, then fair enough. I’m just preoccupied at the moment and went through the thread again and noticed a possible insinuation that the origins of the oils are dubious. Here I agree that the reviewer has overstepped as he needs to have proof of that. I know for a fact that those oils are sourced from the Royal Household in Oman and I also know where other vendors such as Ensar have got their SQ oils from. Al Hashimi had access to these oils last year but we chose not to stock them for other reasons not related to this discussion. There ARE many vendors who do claim to have SQ oils and the oils turn out not to be genuine. This isn’t the case here with Sulaym.

That’s not a miss, that simply means, you lack the means to appreciate (understand) traditional Oud
That could be one reason.

Another would be i live in the uae and I have been experiencing oud oils for the last 10 years and you get to appreciate some ouds more than others and you experience quality or more accurately the mass ouds vs artisanal ones.

Regards

Well that first post looked like an attack rather than a review to be honest.
Sorry not my intention. My review is that in my opinion i couldnt associate the description or names/ regions with the actual experience of the product. That's what i meant.
Regards

What’s your favorite 3 oils right now?
That would be a hard one as there are many that i enjoy. I do worry if i mention names, it would imply I am promoting those names. But I can safely say that aga raura, al sharef oudh and ensar have artisanal craftsmanship ouds. I also tried mesoud and the guy has some really good ones. This is just what comes immediately to my mind.

Glad you didn’t fall for the obvious set up.

All of us would agree I’m sure

For how long are we going to entertain people (unknown) overstep in the name of freedom of speech through their masked opinions?
This is what makes freedom of speech (I’ll say what I want) evil & undesirable & it’s not just about this forum.
A mouth that sings spits as well. So have them spit within 4 walls!

Hello @Oud Fan, welcome to ouddict!
from your posts I feel that (and hope I'm not wrong) you are an oud lover with no hidden agenda who like oud like all of us.

Please share what you want as this is an open forum, but if your 1st post is attacking a vendor, that can be a little suspicious, and the counterattack can be justified from other members who enjoy that vendor products.

Fermentation in oud is well known, and you can even find more expensive oud oils with more sour fermented note, so fermentation in oud oil doesn't mean this oud oil is inferior or not genuine.

I hope to read more reviews from you about different oud oils very soon.

Regards

My experience with sulaym products they are very generic low quality with inaccurate descriptions and references. If you try any genuine oud oils, you'll you will immediately notice the genric fermented smell. After my first order of a couple of samples, the first thing that came to mind was the stuff they sold outside the mosk on the stands. Again maybe i had high expectations or i been around the likes of agaraura ensar areej le dore....

Sulaym's

How so? Generic and inaccurate, I feel like this is far from the truth. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however, they provide beautiful oils from the likes of Sultan Qaboos. Far from generic. Also, the taifi rose recently release is seriously potent stuff. I understand you may have had high expectations, but I beg to differ.

These statements cannot be attributed as a reaction to an opinion about an oud oil! The statements and the lack thereof can only reflect on who they are.

My only agenda is to give an opinion on my experience. But the reactions i am receiving makes wonder what's going on. Very rarely have I encountered extreme reactions because i didnt like or didnt appreciate a product from a vendor. Most fragrance lovers post a reaction and enjoy their fragrance Regardless of what ine person says. I must have touched something. Anways, i do not wish to continue this conversation if this is what entails from score cards and what not. But my opinion doesn't change. And i will withdraw from the forum as not to disturb the staus quo .

Not liking an oil is something and accusing somebody of selling fake sq oils is another thing

I totally agree with this Faris, it was Oud Fan's comparison of Sulaym's products to what could be procured at Mosque stands that left me scratching my head! There's no way what's being offered there could compare to anything apart from a mere resemblance to what I've smelled from the likes of Sephora or Nordstrom's let alone from Sulaym! That clearly can't have been a review, a review can't lack that much credibility! Also such a comparison can't be easily brushed under the rug!

Comparing an artisan vendor, who's been vetted by the team here, as well been endorsed by veterans in the oud game, requires the person come up with something more specific than what's been shared. What's absolutely annoying is how people with very little presence in the oud community, can come in an bash anyone they feel like!

That's okay though, one dissenting pseduo-review won't affect how a reputable brand is perceived, because plain and simple, I've purchased tolas of oil from Sulaym and will continue to purchase tolas more! They've earned my admirable and respect, through each transaction I've been blown away by what I've received, just means more wonderful oils and aromatics for the rest of us 🤷‍♂️

Exactly. A pretty interesting way to introduce yourself to a community.
