Digging through all of my sad little vials that have a fraction of a drop stuck to the bottom. Came across one from imperial oud labeled "Pursat Imperiale". What a shocker that one was to open. When I got that years ago, I believe I failed to appreciate what it was. Beautiful bright complex top note absolutely delicious projecting tang almost like from a good distilled sinensis. Deep oudy and syrupy heart... Never smelled anything quite this complex from Pursat. To me this oil just seems over the top, made more so by how old is sample is and how little is left in the vial. Typically these last residues become bland as they oxidize and harden but this one is clearly something special. Standing out from the old samples like a gold nugget in a bed of gravel - pretty wild actually.

Still geeking on the pursat imperiale - that one is something special. Smells like sinensis in many ways - unexpected! Very lively

As the discussion is about cambodian oud oils, I want to say it is very hard to have a good cambodian oil and the best I've tried till now is unfamous oil called Song of Som by Agar Aura.
I've tried Kambodi 1976 by EO and didn't grab my attention, many Qadeem oils that have the fermented note that I don't like, but SoS is very nice and the drydown is super kinamic, opposite to other oils the kinamic note usually appear at the opening.
Oud Salahuddin should be next on my list.

HabzOud's Sultan Hijau - First impression. So, wont go into real detail as I havent 100% really gotten to understand this oil yet, as it is somewhat complex, I believe anyway. Once it is released I will buy some and see if I can get any more detailed nuanced notes out of this oil.

Strong piercing real green minty note, with a sweet and subtle bitter clean forest-like greenery notes with some slight musky tones to the forest notes, the mintiness slowly goes away, you get left with a slight undertone of mint for a while till it fully dissipates, lovely candied sweet purple juicy berries intertwined with this tame, and outstanding cola note. Dark purple resinous warmth, combined with a creamy and (very slight) buttery Malay aloeswood note with some incense notes with strong purple berries that are soft. Spices. Powdery, clean, fresh, absolutely beautiful white florals and some purple florals. Fresh oceanic breezes, and sometimes I felt I was smelling a breeze on top of a small mountain cliff where there is already fresh air but with an ocean under neath and I was getting hit with 2 types of freshness, the oceanic breezes with some minerals and a nice airy, cooling note on top of the mountain. And plenty of this purple aloeswood notes, with and without a resinous note, and sweet purple candies.

First impressions are great, it is a very airy and delicate oil after the top notes though, so it requires attention, thats why I think its somewhat complex, and I swiped a tiny bit more to boost it a little after having the first swipes on for hours, it also definitely has psychoactive-like effects in some way.

EO archipelago
I am pretty surprised how close the smell gets to tigerwood royale.
Archipelago could be the small brother of TWR 😂
The malaysian part definitly dominates the bornean and papuan one.
I recall the original release under that name. Kind of a mixed Indonesian gaharu blend with a little bit of cat spit in the residue. At the time it was a big step up for what he was selling... I wonder how similar the new one is to the old one?

I know there was a second edition as well.

I think the old one had a bit of the "green papua" oil as part of the mix. It's been a long time...
No its not a new one 😂
Its the old version
Have you smelled v.2?

I have swiped Sulaym No 2 a few times, and the last time was a few minutes ago. It's a very unique and interesting oil.

I immediately smelled this and thought that the closest thing I have smelled is a vintage Thai oil from Ensar. I can't remember the name for sure, but I think it was called Pattani SQ or something like that. I will say that this smells much better but it has similar notes which hit my nose like vapor and smell something like a very old book.

I smelled deeper and I started to realize that this has aspects similar to other Fili oils I have smelled. I have always considered Fili oud to be a wild card because I have never smelled any similarity between any two oils, but I actually notice that this oil shares certain notes with Abu Yog and Pinoy from Ensar, which is nice to see because it isolates the notes from their context.

To be more specific, the vaporized library scent is related to some note that is in Pinoy, and it shares a bit of the funk from Abu Yog.

I like this oil and I might continue to like it more. I feel like there is a lot to discover. My biggest complaint is that is has an exciting smell in the beginning but it loses something important very quickly and I find myself not really enjoying the scent after less than a half hour. It's interesting because I can't really describe the difference. It's like there's something I am unconsciously smelling that makes me like the oil and it leaves quickly but after that I would still describe the oil as smelling the same. Maybe it's the novelty wearing off or something.
My experience with sulaym products they are very generic low quality with inaccurate descriptions and references. If you try any genuine oud oils, you'll you will immediately notice the genric fermented smell. After my first order of a couple of samples, the first thing that came to mind was the stuff they sold outside the mosk on the stands. Again maybe i had high expectations or i been around the likes of agaraura ensar areej le dore....
