This brings back memories, it’s the scent we grew up here in the gulf, the “old oud” Hindi scent, medium barnyard on the start, dark smokey resinous and slightly rubbery with a little chocolate sweetness in the end. you can tell this is a very traditional oil. Got 3ml for the upcoming winter, and tried their ruh gulab and turkish rose oil, the gulab is a little expensive but nice, the Turkish rose is sweeter than expected and smoother.

A wee dab of the old Oriscent Royal Kinam. Nice rich oud, this time i get a bitter soapy hit I get with quality oud from a number of regions - I think this soapiness is less of a specific scent and more a kind of saturation / olfactory glare effect in undiluted high quality oud. The main scent association I get in the top notes is like a toothy carrot-seed / cypriol accord with a slight sense of sour or tart; this oil leans in the topnote direction, with lively cut wood and sinensis facets more prominent than the heavy sweet kinam base scent. Nice clean profile, no funk, and blasphemous though it sounds, this is a oil that has a lot to offer once it is diluted (as far as what my nose tells me). A drop of this in a sample vial filled with alcohol and allowed to age for a while is a treat. 🙂

Oud Altamash by Tabeer Oud
Malay Moattaq by Tabeer Oud

Both vintage, and both emanate fragrant energy. Greeting notes testify their being aged and aged.

Malay Moattaq is at par with any high end Merauke by the first five artisans (pioneers). It's being replete with multi shades is divine. Oud Altamash is aged Hindi. Traditional Hindi, but vintage! Hence, its Oudy barn is the most sought after profile, but for a Hindi Oud veteran can appreciate it.
Loved both oils, esp their being genuinely aged.

« Anas », @mesOUD.

Were there any others which you found smelled nostalgic or noteworthy while you were there?

Was there more than one Altamash that was released? The one I have is a Malay and it’s more new Gen than anything.

Oops I just realized you put Tabeer. I was thinking of Habzoud’s Altamash. Sorry!

This one is a hidden gem, underrated secret.

It is, but oddly enough I didn’t really enjoy it mixed with ruh gulab. The first time I mixed it I got a very weird engine lube kind of scent , but after a day it kind of settled and started smelling better. I did 20% rose and 80% of the oud which I know is a lot but hey it’s good to be adventurous.
I also started a few dilutions to experiment more freely with.
