Interested in a review. After Koh Kood, and now Mardelong, I am a fan of wild Thai oud.
I havn't tried Mardelong, but Koh Kood is more Cambodian to me and also 777 from Trat which is on the border with Cambodia. I cant add too much more to the website description. 777 is a thick and rich oil , it opens quite dark and sharp with an almost smoky quality with what smells like burnt cherries to me before mellowing and displaying a mix of dark red fruits and :Poop:-free barn, it feels like a hindi to me. Overall a very enjoyable strong and long lasting oud, also interesting that this came from a single tree and so it has a feel of being a complete experience.:Geek:

I benefited a lot from this review.

I recently received a few more EO samples, of which Oud Shibli was one. I'm still quite new to the Oud scene, so excuse my ignorance, but I thought Manipur ouds were generally done in the Hindi style. I was expecting the classic barnyard and animalic notes from this, instead I get airy, oceanic, clean green incense.
I reread the notes on the website, but I get cool mint, not warm pineapple pie. No smoke, at least not like I'd expect from an Occidental smoky perfume like Patchouli 24 or Lonesome Rider.
I will wear this again tommorow, with a larger dose. If anyone here has some experience to guide me along I would welcome it.

Today, just like 20 minutes ago I spilled a droplet of Sweet Trat oud on my leather slippers shoe.
I pulled the cap with the dipstick too rapidly from the vial, and this is what happened!
The tiny drop dripped down from the dipstick and fell on my slipper.

Well well, my slipper smells wonderful now, in fact I smell this beautiful oud all around me in my whole room. 😱

Sounds like a new way to apply oud 😛

perfume like Patchouli 24.

If you ever get the acrid smoke and tar of Patchouli 24 in an oud, I recommend you drop it in the rubbish 😛
In my opinion that kind of smoke is completely extrinsic to oud oil, but if it is your thing, there are a few oud oils that are smokier than most.

And when this happened, the stick swiped accidentally on my left finger top side, applying something I would consider super extra large swipe. So I did not apply more of course, but massaged what was on my finger in, around my forearms. So now I’m experiencing oud in very large dosage. I must say it’s not that overwhelming because this oud although it has quite nice projection and longevity, it has also gentle, very elegant and pleasurable notes.

I’m wondering how others, non-ouddict people would perceive it and react if they were to enter my room and sit next to me.
Myself I have quite sensitive nose, I smell what other average people can’t. That’s why I’m wondering if such strong aroma would be very intense for them as well.

EO Oud Shibli again. I applied a larger patch this morning. Today I registered a hint of warmth and barn. I was not in the barn, but like someone else came into the house after being in the barn. Smelling it on their clothes, subtle but there. Perhaps I was distracted yesterday morning and missed this phase. 50 minutes in it went green, though not the cool oceanic green I experienced yesterday. Fresh cut twigs instead. Perhaps dosage does matter...
This is quite pleasant, but as I've mentioned before, I prefer a more challenging scent. I have a few more samples to try, but I'm gravitating toward the damp dark swamp, not the sweet sunny fruit. Perhaps Papuamantan tomorrow.

ASO Jannah

Since I’ve been lighting a lot of Japanese incense lately....... I’m focusing on Jannah’s incense behavior.

It’s like beautiful liquid incense with oriental overtones.

Thinking outside the box, to me, Jannah is what I imagine Chinese oud should smell like, but of course the reality is otherwise. In reality it is indeed Papuan in profile.

I won’t be able to experience the drydown because it’s time for me to catch some Zeeees
:Sleep::Sleep:
