Last evening, a Sri Lankan from Azman Oudh - my 1st SL oil experience - thanks a lot Hosen. It starts with intense green (oakmoss abs on sterioid 😛), spiciness, and lots of fruits. After a few minutes I can smell something airy, reminding me of Sri Lankan and Indonesian sandalwood's top notes. It then becomes a combo of Cambdoian, Thai and Malaysian to my nose. During the last stage it gives off a beautiful smell I get when I burn oud chips at higher temperature. :handok: I'll enjoy breaking it down. 🙂

Today I’m rocking Royal Lao again to get a better understanding.

Mardelong is the only Thai oil I’ve ever really enjoyed. Very incensy, like a piece of wood on a white coal. Impressed.

Liquid Incense

EO Aroha Kyaku 2011-12 on the left

AA Inderapura Encens on the right

I’m knocked-out:handfist::handfist::handfist:😕

I started with IE, a grand opening, Pencerahan vibe, then when I swiped AK11-12, dayyuumm!, what a beast😱, a super cloud of Thai and Cambodi profiles, age has toned down the smoke, thus revealing more of the oud, I can’t believe how strong it is, I’m getting ringing in my ears.

Night Swipe : ASQ Kyara
Night Burn : Pride of Kyoto - Shoyeido

ASQ Kyara though not Artisanal is not bad

not even close to what Kyara smells like but it's a very clean Hindi smelling Oud...

Not worth the money I spent but this was one of my ignorant Oud Buys

In short - it's an overpaid expensive quite decent smelling Oud

Al Hashimi - Caliph sample

A VERY beautiful and balanced Malay oil. instant love (and purchase)
This shall go straight to my special pile to be treasured when my order arrives. In the meantime... I shall cherish what’s left of my sample...

When I first tried it, I was like this is just like EO Tigerwood - then I did a side by side comparison... no it’s not!

I enjoyed EO’s Tigerwood (both of them) - this one feels similar, but with a little more depth and sits much higher in terms of the comfort and complexity scale.

These days I just stalk this forum, given I don’t have much new to say... but Caliph... stellar oil.

I have been refraining from buying new oils, my new year resolution hahaha - unless it really is unique, extremely well distilled, smells like incense/oud on low heat and/or has a prominent kinam/Kyara note to it.

I think it’s my favorite from Al Hashimi so far. (Amira is really good too but this one is more enjoyable to my nose and soul - I just have a thing for Malay oil).

My first oil for this year and I am glad it was this one ! (My last oil of 2018 was LMK’s Sumatran oil, a great way to end the year) considering how crazy I got last year - I think I am making good progress [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
